What made milfy city so successful and why

A combination of a bunch of factors amigo.
Including, but definitely not limited to -
- High quality renders and animations
- Developer with a proven track record (4(?) Games prior to releasing Milfy City)
- Crowd pleasing scenario/genre - harem/incest is generally a safe bet for a lot of people
- Fairly consistent updates/community engagement (at least in the first year or so)
It's also worth remembering that the western adult games industry was a little less saturated 3-4 years ago, and Big Brother's development falling apart left a bit of a power vacuum in the 3DCG space which put Milfy City in a good position to make it big.
Including, but definitely not limited to -

Deffo the models play a big part when you pull in new interested players. The eye candy was obvious from the get-go that it was good, and coupled with some predictable yet engaging personas it was a done deal. Also what Xelloss69 wrote. Proportions. They looked more like a genuine article rather than the overproportioned models used in many other games in the same genre.
I think one to add is that the game was animated in a period before that was more common place- it’s increased a lot over time, but back then that still felt new, at least for me. We’re seeing a similar rise in animation on the Japanese side, which is a bit of a surprise to me.

I dunno, I played and finished the game at a certain update point, but I never felt the need to download the newest update, it just wasn't for me, but then again my tastes are hardly what you would define as something that everyone would like, which is what is required to make a game successful - make it as good for as many people as possible rather than caring about niches.
That being said, it's a bit f*cked up that incest is so popular, not just in porn games, but also on Pornhub...etc. even though nobody would actually do it. I mean it hasn't stopped me from fapping, so who am I to judge ?

ICSTOR Was one of the first popular developers of the incest genre in the past 6 years, he completed multiple projects and gained multiple followers in the process.
His last game that started being developed in 2018 sadly ended up being affected by the patreon model, which works best for games that are never completed. So the longer it takes to complete the game the more eyes it will get, this keeps promoting the game into oblivion which results in more people knowing about the game. He probably saw that this was working in his favor so he just kept doing it, all his other games barely reached the 1m mark in number of views here, but milfy city got over 37m.
It's like they say, there is no bad publicity, even if he gains haters in the process new people are going to find the game, find it interesting and donate.
In other words, he was a decent developer that saw the benefits of gaming the system, so why not right?

Beautiful renders and good story with Cecilia and gloryhole.
Its still one of most waited game for update.
..oh and it has many bad sides too like
very bad and unintuitive navigation, poorly made map,
sfx and music from open source so you can hear them like in every second vn game,
and worst of them is small updates like once a year or so.

Simple answer: There wasn't any competition. "It was before it's time" to people when it debuted.
Now this is just my opinion. Celia there is manipulation and blackmail. Linda(mom) on the other hand is the one chasing MC. Even in the beginning of her chase of him. The MC is shocked and confused but doesn't run from it like some beta boy (as in some games). In time MC becomes more comfortable with it but still doesn't understand why (DAMN ICSTOR for leaving us hanging! On that question among many others). Carolina the MC is chasing her. But he isn't pushing and he is being very supportive to her. MC is allowing her to come to terms with their relationship in her own time.
Basically there is a natural build up of each of the relationships. Even with Celia being manipulated/blackmailed there wasn't "Here I have this evidence bend the fuck over your desk so I can fuck you". It built up each time MC saw her. Now MC and LInda's relationship did stall a bit but that one was understandable due to their situation. The problem with most games is MC and love interest goes from first kiss to banging her in the bed. No build up at all. Or they are flirting and 7-8 updates later they are still flirting the same as they did in the demo. Games need a step by step build up to be good. Each time they see each other and are alone there should be an advancement in their relationship.
Also if you think about it. MC did some creepy things ( which in my opinion some could have been left out. Peeking and the sleep sex). But for the most part (not including Celia) it was the girls that advanced the relationships not MC. Linda kissing MC. Carolina who decided to give MC a hand. Sara who was trying to get a picture of MC naked while he was asleep.

It just had really good Renders and a somewhat believable plot. I never was into "Moms" in these types of Games but the Mom in Milfy City was really nice.
And most importantly it was not one of these stupid Games where the Girls around you are horny for no reason.

Interesting/intense story, plus it was different with every character.
I played the game 2 times and was reading everything, it was almost like a movie.
Not to mention the good variety of girls for every taste.
I could say I love Caroline and I really like Celia too.
THe game also had the extra content cards which were hot, and the world was interesting.

I don't understand it, the game humiliates you and makes you play an unbeatable minigame at the start of Delilah's storyline where you can't use the gym to prepare until AFTER you lose and get humiliated more. The whole story starts with you being called a loser by basically everyone and I don't see how that is enjoyable.
