I realize this gonna get buried and probably very little attention, but I wanted to share my Idea what would make a good porn game.
To me there are two things that make a game really fun and enjoyable in terms of game design (art and graphics are even more subjective):
1. A simple, engaging combat system that orients itself closely to turn based rpg’s like Final Fantasy 7 (the Original and just an example)
2. A well written and rewarding dialogue system that models dating
I think these two aspects allow a game to present its content in a sensible manner, combat acting as a pace maker and challenge, while not taking massive amounts of resources or balance. Action combat, deck builder combat or hybrid approaches just always feel like they fall short or they slow down development a lot.
Even if it’s probably forgotten at this point, I remember Sensual Realms to be a good example such an approach, although of course most RPG maker games could be considered as such, since those games obviously fall into a specific niche.
The second point is just as important, too often games present their sex scenes randomly or create a lot of “lose combat for sex” scenarios. But the gaming aspect of romance content is vital, let your characters show personality in how they react to you, reward players for picking a consistent approach, vary it up by presenting sex encounters without requirements. Basically what I am saying is, you are garnering an audience by making a porn game, make the romance and sex engaging and fun, because otherwise you are just a shitty indie game with some nudity.
Dialogue trees are hard, reactivity on even a moderate scale even more so, I get that. Rogue-Like Evolution would be an example of a promising romance game, but even that becomes grindy and non-sensical potentially.
And finally I would ask you if you have ideas for games or know of any games that in your opinion nail the aspects I talked about. Thanks for reading and stay safe ^^
