Incest games have been a boom area for Ero devs for the last couple of years, I think everyone on here who doesn’t live under a rock knows that, we’ve had a huge variety of games, however we do see lots of the same, rehashes of certain tropes and settings, that’s fine we love them for the most part, we must do to keep paying for them. I was thinking however now we’ve had the metaphorical buffet, what parts did you enjoy?, what parts worked what didn’t and what do you think we are missing?.

Just a note, this is specifically in the case of son/brother MC incest games, not father centric ones, though there is a lot of stuff that both types have in common and if you think its relevant, post away.

What I’d like to hear is:

What concepts you think would/does work well in an incest game, what doesn’t and why, I’m interested in setting, tropes and general styles, though I’m not that worried by Sandbox vs visual novel.

What body types, physical appearances and similar you’d like to see or like seeing and what you don’t like and why

What types of character you like or would like to see in terms of personality and character progression, perhaps combine this with the above, e.g.: “a pale freckled redhead, relatively flat and athletic, most likely as a “daddy’s girl” younger sister type or childhood friend or my ideal Aunt character would be …

Basically if you’ve got a suggestion for the lists then put them down, I want the reasons why and/or where you think they fit(or could fit) into the whole incest game scene.

What I really don’t want: extended rants on NTR, Daz sucks(no explanation attached), many pages of “Eric needs to die in a fire”, these have threads of their own, plenty in fact.

Here is a rough list of stuff that I’ve either come across or thought could work:

MC, the son

Concepts

These are more general ideas and tropes, some I like some I don’t, they al lhave their place however and bring different things to the table, the trick is to make the most of the ones you use and tailor them to fit the style of game your going for. For example harems fit a sandbox, they can be “recruited” in the order the player likes and content unlocks as you go, VN’s lend themselves to more romantic relationships since they are heavier on dialogue, though of course you can do both romance and harem in either format, I just feel that this way round works better, hell you could do both if you wanted.

Thanks for reading that, it got a little out of hand in terms of post size, hence the spoilers.

Oh boy, my English writing skills are to limited to answer or explain everything from my POV. So, would an audio conversation be an option?

But first at all: Your open-mindedness regards character build, story, kinks, etc. is worthwhile and speaks for a developer with experience. (y)

Ask yourself what is the main reason, why you want to make a game:
- Is it for the money, like some devs doing it or
- Passion, a hobby to create something - regardless if you earn $100 or $50,000 a month.

If money is your motivation, then stick to the generic 08/15-incest-game:
- Have a hot milf with nice boobies as Mom, and an older tsundere sister and a brocon younger sister. MC is the only one who fucks all female characters in the game. Other male characters are not needed. As long your characters are looking nice, your renders are top quality and you have plenty sex scenes in every possible position in every available place t- he DAZ-Shop has to offer -, you don't have to worry about the story.
- let your high-tier patrons decide what they want in the game and don't care about the community here on F95.
- monthly updates at least
- dull personalities for all characters, because MC is the only smart person in the game.
- no grind
- no rpgm, and better not Unity, because an old PCs can't keep up with high-quality renders etc. Stick to Ren'py.

I'm tired already...

@cold_arctus I'm really flattered but i should have said, i'm not a dev, sure i've got some ideas floating around around that may get to be games eventually but i'm mainly just asking out of interest, sort of trying to get an idea of what the collective "best of" sort of incest game would have.

Ah! ok, no problem at all... so this thread is kind of a round-table to discuss "how our perfect incest game" would look like?!

for me until now there is no game influenced me to make me say this game is special
but what i don't like in incest game when you make all the family in incestuous relationship
EX: there is a game called [sister,sister,sister]...if you play it you will find that
1- your twin sisters want to have sex with you
2- your third sister want to have sex with you too
3- your mother having sex with her sister
4- your sister want you to have sex with your mother
(this is really turn off and delete the game for me) are you kidding me is this even a story
0% realistic
so for me when i want to play incest game i want it to be believable (not just for fap)

What body types, physical appearances and similar you’d like to see or like seeing and what you don’t like and why
here i say i like every type of bodies except thin body with small tits
but for the mother i prefer her to be milf specially if she has more than one kid
that's for realistic

of course you mentioned NTR !! i really don't like this tag and to be understandable
when you make a romance game that focus on romance the player 100% don't want to see any cuckold or cheating on him

personally this tag made me block more than 10 game threads in this site so no for me

Exactly that, just throwing ideas around, seeing what we all think, that sort of thing

@kimoo your favourite game list in the footer told me a lot about your preferences, I agree on the story over pure fap material as well, if your making a VN give it a damn story.

Some questions to ask when developing an incest game:
1. Who is the Main Character--son, father, daughter or mother?
2. How old is the Main Character--note, while all MCs are "officially" at least 18, some are "18"--if a son/daughter, are they early to mid adolescent(middle school/junior high/high school freshman, mid to late adolescent(high school sophomore to graduating senior), late adolescent to young adult(college or post-college); if mother/father, are they youngish(30ish) or older(middle aged, typically 40ish)?
3. What is the family situation--nuclear(mom, dad, siblings all together), broken(one parent dead or living apart, remaining parent has issues and so do the siblings), extended(you have step parents,e.g.), really broken(foster family)?
4. What is driving the MC towards incest?
5. What is driving the other characters towards incest(aside from the machinations and efforts of the MC)?
6. Are there going to be meaningful choices or options for the MC?
7. Is the setup a "daily routine" scenario where the MC works steadily towards their goals and the general setup doesn't change much, or is it driven by external events and the MC's actions in response to them?
8. Is there an element of jeopardy? That is, is there a threat of failure or loss of some kind?
9. If there's a harem element in the game, is it an open harem(where the women are fully aware of each other) or a largely compartmentalized one(where the MC is concealing their seduction from each other, all the way through or perhaps only open at the endgame stage)? What drives the MC to pursue a harem and what drives the members to accept or embrace it?
10. What level of seriousness/realism/tone is present? Is this a somber, Dual Family type tone, a ludicrously over the top Urban Demons type tone, or somewhere in between?

I'll give my thoughts on what I'd like to see a bit later, but in terms of designing a game, I think these are all important things for a dev to work out at the outset.

New attempt.

I have to agree with @kimoo, there is not a single game here, that I consider special. Neither story-wise games nor fap games. But the same applies for real porn and novels.

Let me start with the most controversial issue here on F95: NTR

Having said this, it is easier to understand what I like or miss in porn games. First of all: I never place myself in the position of the protagonist or the villain. My viewpoint is always the one of an (invisible) observer [like in Half-Life and Duke Nukem 3D with invisibility and flying cheat enabled ].
- Clearly the lack or option to decide with whom the females can have sex or not... I consider them as human beings with their own emotions and minds. And not as a simple dull sex doll.
- Absents of the father or other male model-roles. Why isn't there a game where you can play a 18 year old son and your father helps you to fuck your mom and sisters without him being cuckold? Who feels jealousy for a fictional character?
- Max's Life (the HS one) has an nice setup for Max and his friend to share their Moms ... but nothing!
- I don't care about skin color, but tattoos are kind of a turn-off for me, even in real porn. I praise JAV for that but hate them for censorship
- big or small boobies? Who cares? If her personalty doesn't fit her body, the character becomes irrelevant to me. [yeah it is nice to play with them, but an A cup nipple taste the same as a D-Cup. And non of them taste like honey or anything else]
- lists goes on....

What body types, physical appearances and similar you’d like to see or like seeing and what you don’t like and why
Milf and sexy mature style. I mostly don't care about the sisters, because I don't have a Siscon kink (mostly because I don't watch hentai or teen porn). Having seen your best friends mom (a milf) naked in your teens can cause something like that .

For example: I liked Marcus's Mom in Dream of Desire, but she barely had any content in the VN. The same as Tom's Mom in Incest Story 1 + 2. In my opinion the sex scene between Tom's Mom an MC in IS 2 was the best.. ("Can you pls have sex with me, like you have sex with your Mom?") [Of course you need do know the background story of hers - but this is, what you have to find out for yourself by playing it (available as ren'py version)]

Option 1 – the “horny virgin” - just 18, no experience at all, effectively he is naive and sex obsessed, naturally he has an oversized dick and magic everlasting hard-on, because porn logic, goes after everything that moves, so long as it’s female. a blank slate character to project onto, that is defined by his interaction with the women he chooses, effectively an everyman that matches the requirements for the girl and scene, willing to go to almost any lengths to get sex.

Option 2 – The “hound-dog”, similarly likely to screw with any women he crosses paths with but is crucially more experienced, a little older and more openly playing the field, people know he’s something of a womanizer and react to that appropriately, he is older than the virgin but doesn’t need to be much older, he is effectively a more refined horny virgin, likely to be less desperate and has more of a personal character since he’s had time to discover what he does and doesn’t like, which is likely to be a little column A a little column B, because he’s still likely to adapt to the girl rather than dominate a scene.
These two roll nicely into "The Creeper". A result of the character mostly being a blank slate and the developer not having a better way to give lewd content early on, these characters tend to dominate the sandbox game incest games.

Option 3 – The “nice guy” – highly likely not to be a virgin, probably a romantic, generally lends himself to a story driven game, he gets into situations by being too nice, that’s not to say he wouldn’t sleep around, just that he’s feel bad about it later, likely he’d feel guilty about incest to begin with as well. Probably adapts to the girl in the scene more than dominating the scene, though this is case specific due to the likelihood of being involved with more classically romantic girls that won’t intrinsically be the dominant partner in the scene as often.
I've only ever seen one who is a "nice guy" trope, and he was definitely a virgin. You might be able to put the MC from Sisterly Lust in this category, but considering he has the option to blackmail Bella, I'd say he's closer to a hound dog, just happens to be a better person than most.

Option 4 - the “predator” – Imagine a horny virgin that didn’t mature nicely into a hound-dog, this guy is willing to manipulate, steal, cajole, blackmail and perhaps rape his way to whatever woman he fixates on, likely unaware of their mental state and almost always self-justifying it, not a nice guy but lends himself to a male-dom centred game. The rapey nature of the MC means that he does dictate the scene and is unlikely to be having fully consensual sex very often.
This one has almost never been done correctly, and is just a creeper on steroids. More on this one later.

Option 2 – “ew boys” likely to be apathetic or antagonistic to her brother, likely to evolve into another option given time since this is fundamentally unfulfilling as a long term stance in a sex game. Be it due to repressing her feelings, perhaps out of innate lesbian tendencies or simply out of shyness she has little to do with boys, we all know she’s going to end up wanting the D in the end, though she is less likely to dictate a scene’s style or content than other character types.
I think it would be better to say Tsundere here, just for convenience, I haven't seen a lot of this trope specifically, but the vibe the author was going for is in the larger Tsundere category. A Tsundere is someone who is confrontational and usually loud in their protest against the character, but is either hiding or ends up realizing she's loved him all along. Anime fans usually know this character as it's pretty common, but they exist in the west too. Princess Leia is a perfect example.

What concepts you think would/does work well in an incest game, what doesn’t and why, I’m interested in setting, tropes and general styles, though I’m not that worried by Sandbox vs visual novel.
Now, onto my thoughts. Personally, I'm tired of the "my family is my harem" games.

Ah, @DarthSeduction you are such a Siscon ! :giggle: (without prejudice)

I had kind of the same idea as you describe about Eromanga Sensei (did not watch anime). The basic story would be like; the son plays VN (incest) games and starts to develop his own, but gets bad reviews for his first game... For the main plot: the father would found out about his son's hobby and use it for his fantasy: Introducing his son into the world of Moms (Milfs). Gaining sexual experience by (virtual) real-life experience makes the son a better game developer with better reviews and income (for college or anything else).

Incest still be considered a taboo, but an open-minded taboo what needs to be explored by every character in this world. With that.. the father would plant the idea about his son having sex with his mom (or any other mom) into his wife/mom leading to a family harem with sharing (expandable to friends, neighbors. etc.)

In erotic novels it is kind of normal to read about female sharing with friends and other people without calling it NTR (seriously, even reading all definitions about NTR; I still don't know what it means... doesn't matter if it calls natori? or netari? or what else.). Those novels are mostly story driven and and each story use their specific setting. A good writer will introduce you to the story, so basically you know "Gotham City is a city of criminals, where everything can happen" . There are now surprises like "oh, a wild black dude or an old guy appear and starts to rape my / any girl... and I can't do anything, but I get a hard-on.".

This is a dangerous simplification, but I'm gonna make it anyway.

NTR requires that character A have a relationship with a bond of trust involved between themselves and character B. A third party, character C, comes in and steals character B's affection from A, breaking the bond of trust between them.

If the story is told from the perspective of C it is Netori. If the story focuses on the perspective of B it is NTR or Netorare. When the story is from A's perspective it is Netorase.

NTR is not cheating, it is not sharing, it is not swinging, it is not polyamory, it is not adultery. NTR is the destruction of an established relationship due to the introduction of a Netori and the corruption of B's Netorare. The relationship doesn't have to be romantic, however there has to be a bond of trust, and that bond is what has to be broken. If your platonic best friend starts dating your other platonic friend, it's not NTR, but if said friend starts dating your bully, or some abusive authority figure, be he your father or a teacher or whatever, then it is NTR, because your friend should care about your well being more than their lust.

If your non incestuous mother gets a new boyfriend and he's abusive to you and she doesn't act to stop him and continues that relationship, it is NTR. If your mother has sex with her boyfriend and he's a good guy and she still acts as a mother should, providing for her family, keeping the house clean, making food, ensuring your homework is done, you know parental duties it's not NTR. If she gets that same boyfriend but is all o the sudden never home, not providing for the family, possibly actively pushing you away, you have NTR. The relationship between you being maternal, in both of the proposed NTR versions, she's abandoned the behavior of a mother for her lust, or weakness, and betrayed you.

When it is a romantic relationship it's a lot easier to do, there's a lot less destruction neccesary to destroy that relationship. All that has to happen is for B to admit to themselves or to C that C is all they want anymore, acknowledging their final betrayal of A. Many NTR stories leave it at that with A blussfully unaware that B has chosen C over them. When A does find out he either leaves or gets forcefully cucked. Sometime C gets off on that, he'll impregnate B and then have B fuck A for the first time in forever so that she can convince him it's his kid, or he'll drug A as he initially did with C to force him to watch as she willingly fucks him in front of A. Remember though, when this is happening A isn't the focus of the story, B usually is, though it might be C.

Western games have abused the definition of NTR, essentially making it "cuckoldry" in a broad sense. Any time the MC's love interest has sex with someone who isn't the MC it's called NTR. This is not the meaning of NTR.

Cast thoughts:
Overall most characters are boring. I'm not the one who wants every character to be an award-winning, deep and complex figure, but man, use a few tropes to make them interesting. Arson, Murder and Jaywalking - the first trope, the main trope and the quirk. You can literally scroll at random at TVtropes and pick them at random, but come one. Big-boob-slut 1, Small-boob-hidden-slut 1 and Bitch-model-slut 1 are boring as hell. Twist them a little!

Also never, ever, ever, ever make a character as some form of political commentary. Actually - don't even try to comment on politics. Thanks.

The Setting

You know, while there have been attempts at shaking up things a bit, I'm bored.
Best setting to pull an incest game in? Post-apocalypse! Use it. Slap a simple survival game on top of it. Now you have the setting, where society is gone, all the societal norms are dead and we can build new ones. It also explains, why there are so few people in the world.
Ok, ok, ok, you have a thing for school-girls or their uniforms. OK! Twist it a little bit. I'm 30, high-school struggles are boring and pathetic to me. I'm also not from the USA - joks, nerds, whatever are a thing I cant relate to.
Magical school? Cool, as long as you don't copy Harry Potter.
Military academy would be interesting.
Come on, you are making an incest porn game - shape the setting so that you can use it. Maybe it's not post-apocalyptic, but we are in the middle of nowhere (would make some sense why we have to always help the little one with her homework).
Historical setting? Yes, Rome could work, not only because of the almost modern (at times) sexual mores, but because of the whole Villa culture in high society, the seclusion some families lived in... man, that has options.
Sci-fy! Maybe we are on a seed ship and someone (maybe the MC) just killed off all the men. Or something like that.
Shake it up.
Cyberpunk... well, I don't think that would really work - it's not a genre, that puts much of an emphasis on family. But who knows?
All in all, the usual is boring. Shake it up a bit. Steal a concept - nobody can stop you from using a similar setting as another game. Do some world building, make some interesting characters and the game and the story will write themselves.

Themes.

I actually like "one cock to rule them all". Mainly, because there is rarely a likable male character in sight! It's fun, but I feel games should make us work more for it. Make us struggle with the balancing of so many relationships. It's a tool as any trope, but it's so rarely used at it's full potential...

Aside from that I agree with most of what is said in the OP. No need to copy-paste it. I'm bored by every MILF making cow heards jealous, dicks that seem taken from horses, asses that would make Nicki Minaj seem flat and every girl being bisexual. Now, some of those are personal preferences (I really hate enormous bobs and asses), some are not and can be justified, some can be funny (tho people will bitch and moan if you use stereotypes)... still, it's often times boring to see yet another mom in incest games, that would probably never be able to tie her shoes because of her breast size or wipe her ass, since she can't possibly reach there. I like realistic proportions of any type. But some games overdo it so badly it's not even funny.

Blank state MC and why it doesn't work.
A lot of the MCs in incest games are written as a blank state as seen in literature. It doesn't work! You are writing interactive fiction! Ether characterize the MC or let me choose what he will be. Give enough variety of choices to make it. The don't have to all matter (see Our Fate for how to do it well), but let me build his character up. You write another Bella from Twilight in a chick-flick - you set yourself up to let a bunch of people identify with her. You do it in a game - I'm wandering why can't I choose differently.

Player agency is one of the most important things in a game. It's why so few games pull any form of NTR/sharing/cheating well. It's why Acting Lessons creates so much drama in the thread (and sucks as a GAME). It's why Mass Effect ending is a staple for how not to do shit in a game. It's why Dreams of Desire is so frustrating without a guide. When you take the agency of the player to make informed decisions you achieve nothing but frustration. Players will eat the Russian grind, they will play your boring, frustrating mini-games, they will even forgive your boring characters, stupid story or horrid renders (well, not all at once). But aside from a very, very small minority, that loves masochistic gameplay, where you waste hours to figure out what of the illogical choices leads to victory - the player base will tell you to fuck up if you become the Sadist GM. Or if you pull "none of your choices matter, no get that cacti ass plug in yours". You can pull a lot of shit to the players and I admit deceiving a lot of them, that you made a "good" story is not hard, but there are limits.
Keep your genre. Keep your style. Be consistent. Don't let a blind choice decide an ending. Let them earn a happy ending.

Keep player agency high and your game will be decent. Even if your story is stupider than a B-movie action flick, all the models are stolen from another game and there is an hour of grind for a sex scene.

Thank you for taking your time to explaining it, but honestly NTR is Japanese bullshit - at least for me; created by their insecure (male) society.

The BIG drama - cuckoldry/sharing/polyamory (or NTR as most people call it).

I honestly care not about the right term, unlike @DarthSeduction. It's used here as any situation where a girl the MC can/does fuck doing anything sexual with another guy. It's a really, really, really inflamatory topic. Call it the "Politics" topic in adult games.
Personally I don't care one way or another. Write it well and I think most people will survive it. Make a romantic rival someone who doesn't strip the agency of the player (known as give the player a fighting chance) or give us a good story and challenge and tools to deal with them. Especially in games with morally corrupt MC I have never seen why the raping bastard won't just grab a knife and kill the rival. Or set somebody up to do it.
Or just make those routes so obviously optional, that only a complete idiot would miss them (as in the Babysitter). I actually think NTR is a good mechanic as a fail-state, when a game tries to create solid characters as love (romantic) interests. You don't take care of your girl, somebody is going to steal her from you. It must be synchronized with the story well (since there are as much if not more cases, where NTR as a fail state doesn't make sense), but it can be pulled off.
In any case, unless one is making a NTR focused game - keep it optional or drop it. If you can't write it well as an option - drop it. If you can't write it well as a fail-state - DROP it.
Honestly, it's easier to drop it. More people dislike it and even those like me who don't care that much don't like it if it's not well written.
I honestly think more sharing and polyamory options should exist - they don't strip player agency (as cuckoldry does) and can create interesting stories.

Thank you for taking your time to explaining it, but honestly NTR is Japanese bullshit - at least for me; created by their insecure (male) society.
But that's wrong.

As I said, NTR takes the perspective of B, the one betraying A for C. The western use of NTR has often been more in the cuckoldry category, and does happen to be what you describe, but that's not what NTR is.

NTR is corruption. It is a wife or girlfriend, a mom or close female friend, a sister, a cousin, someone who has a bond of trust with their son, husband, boyfriend, best friend, brother, or cousin and betrays that bond of trust due to a building lust. Lots of NTR have C come in and drug B. B doesn't participate in the NTR willingly, at first. Gradually, however, over time C corrupts B so much that B no longer needs to be drugged, that B chooses C on her own.

But remember this is from B's perspective. A is only there to add drama to the story. You aren't supposed to necessarily relate to A just as you aren't supposed to necessarily relate to C, if you do, that's you inserting yourself, not the intent of the writer.

Personally, I have an NTR game that I want to write, and I guarantee you'd probably be interested in playing it, because the game I'm planning A is the girlfriend B is the male MC and C is the male MC's little sister (what can I say, I'm a siscon). You'll play as a dude who always had an affectionate relationship with his sister but got out of the home and found himself a great girlfriend, she likes all the same things he likes, she's a hot goth/punk with short cropped purple hair (raven anyone?) and she actually loves you. However, due to the fact that MC is hard on his luck he'll have to move back in with his mom for a while, as he tries to do his own thing (becoming a game designer). Meanwhile little sis, who has lived with dad until now, is finally escaping the clutches of his religious household now that she's turned 18, and also moves in with mom. Now, it will be up to you what you choose to do, but if you fall to the temptation that your little sister brings in, the story will be about the corruption of your MC in his lust for his little sister, he'll gradually choose her over the girlfriend.

That is what NTR is. It's the drama at the center, it's a Love Triangle on steroids. It isn't about the cuckoldry, it isn't about the cheating, it's about the ultimate betrayal of A by B for C. You can cheat without betraying A for C, A can be cucked by C without B choosing C over A. But once B chooses C, it's NTR.

Call it the "Politics" topic in adult games.
it's a Love Triangle on steroids
I personally don't have a problem with all of that.. Just the overall use of NTR as buzzword is annoying... Call it what ever you want: Corruption, bad cheat, Triangle on steroids etc... but at least use an English term/word.. no one has time to learn Japanese.

F95 tells people to use English only but offers Japanese tags like NTR *facepalm*. A few days ago someone requested an "inseki" tag for "in-law relationship". *facepalm*

I honestly think more sharing and polyamory options should exist - they don't strip player agency (as cuckoldry does) and can create interesting stories.
For this reason forbid NTR as tag!

Another reason why I prefer novels over vn, because the content is not limited to one MC...

The word Fetish is French. Are we supposed to go without a word that describes a kink for a particular object or body part simply because the word isn't naturally English?

English is not a language built from the ground up with no need for input from the outside. It's a Germanic language which takes a lot of cues from Latin, and the romance languages which are the languages the English interacted with often. We have lots of words we've adopted from other cultures to define complex concepts that we don't have an accurate word for. Love Triangle on Steroids is almost a sentence. Corruption is not specific enough. Bad cheat? What's a good cheat?

You don't have to learn Japanese to accept the definition of a single word. Netorare has a very specific definition. The problem is that it's being used broadly. If you want to lobby against that, go for it. But lobbying against the use of the word at all because too many people use it to the point where it has no meaning? That's just bullshit.

Also, as someone writing a game with NTR where you play both the Male and the Female character and have all the choices in your hands to make it happen or not, I can say, definitively, a VN doesn't need to follow a single character.

I got the lesson. :censored:

As a German I'm well aware about words and their missing accurate English translation (Poltergeist, Kindergarten, Weltall, Rucksack, etc.)

Just for me personally I decided not to use NTR anymore and use more specific words to describe the content.

Lol don't worry, I wasn't holding a grudge, I'm just not the type to let sleeping dogs lie. I prefer everyone to be on the same page rather than seething alone in darkness.
