Hello all,

We are AcinexGames, two friends who want to create a game for adults together. We want to use the medium to share with you our passion for storytelling, experiencing stories, and playing games. With Tell me your Secret, we want to offer you an exciting story full of secrets in which you are in the middle of the action.
That's why we decided to bring our skills together (3D graphic design and software development) and create an interactive visual novel for you.
When we discussed how we wanted to present the story, it quickly became clear that a RenPy graphic novel is not far enough for us, as we want to bring you INTO the game. So we decided to give you a "live visual novel" using Unreal Engine 4.

To keep you updated, we created this thread where we will post updates about the project. We look forward to sharing this journey with you and welcome any feedback you may have.

Project goal:
Not only do we want you to experience an incredible story, we also want to push the Unreal Engine to its limits. We are always looking at the latest features and combining them with the existing content to give you the best experience we can.

We've been working hard on the tools and the basic content of the game over the last year.

Newest feature: LipSync
We've developed and implemented a tool that allows us to have the Unreal Engine automatically translate text into lip movements.
(Also watch out for the hair, we created some hairstyles in Mayas XGen and found good settings that work perfectly with Unreal Groom).

Here is a little teaser video about it:

The light is still in the development state, which basically means it's not pretty at the moment.

For a long time we thought about how we want the player to interact with the characters and finally came to the conclusion that we need to mimic human interaction. A pure subtitle dialog (like in RenPy games) won't be enough to give an "in the middle" feeling in a live engine which is why we hope to soon find voice actors for the game to dub our dialogs, so we can integrate them into the game.

Game:
We are currently still in the alpha version and are working every day in our spare time to get more content into the game. We have created almost everything in the backend and are adding new content to the game every day. Currently we are working on the daily routines of the NPCs so that they have an exciting daily routine that you can participate in (and even influence).

There are currently:
about 80 animation sequences in the game (and we add more on a daily basis)
three female NPCs (fully rigged)
20 clothing items (getting more every day)
4 hairstyles

We have the story 100% done for the release version (Episode 1). There are 87 pages of dialog written and we have drawn the storyboards for all cutscenes (yes we are planning cutscenes in the game for the story elements). As I said we are working hard to implement everything into the game.

You can help to speed up the development by becoming a Patreon and by helping us spread the word about the project.

Hi, we're just putting in the daily flows for our NPCs and it's going really well. This will be followed by the cutscenes, for which we also have to create special animations, so unfortunately I can't estimate how much work will be needed there.

Nevertheless, we have the goal to have a roughly playable version (first alpha) ready sometime in October.
