Did he really sacrifice adult content for music licences? In AVN? I mean, damn!:LUL:
He might be a "businessman", yet Im out of here:HideThePain:
You would be surprised how many people here love SG music, I dare to say even is one of the favorites things for most people here.

I´m not one of those, i´m attracted more to other things but i understand perfectly why people love SG music, the list is good.

A lot of it (just like with WIAB) is that it perfectly fits the scene. So it's not just the music itself, but it how lends itself and increases the emotion of a scene. Something imo, Ocean is quite unparalleled at.

Unlike most VN's with crappy, pointless and incredibly non-relevant background music (akin to 70's porn in a department store elevator), Ocean isn't just making a VN, he's making an experience. Why so many of us stick with it. Ocean's VN's are the only ones (along with KG) where I actually leave it on...every other BN I turn all sounds off as they are godamn awful.

Of course, a scene without the music wouldn´t be the same, just as if music had no scenes.

Like all machinery, it is necessary all the gears work, that include music, artistic scenes, renders quality...

Sometimes an AVN doesn´t need good quality renders, but with good plot, characters and music it can be saved.

For the excellence it usually required all of those things, and i think SG is accomplishing that.

Only game I keep the music on all the time

Oh! I always play with the music on, no matter what game :)

yeah I would look up SG music when I played a game without any. tho I haven't done that in awhile and just use ambient music as I did get tired of hearing the same music after awhile ( im not a music person rarely listen to any on purpose). But to me this will always be one of the best game when it comes to it's music. I even found alot of the time putting the music on auto play had a good chance of matching a scene in other AVN's

It's okay, you don't have to stay here. :KEK:

This game is what it is because all of its parts work together, including the music, to create a unique atmosphere and experience. Otherwise it would have been another WolLust Theory or Dating My Tenant. :KEK:

On the topic of music, shame that Elijah Ford was such a cunt about his work being used in an adult medium. Couple songs I enjoyed were removed like “Say The Word” and “Every Night” by Late Kids which IIRC, Ford actually held the rights to. Regardless, I trust in Ocean to find new, equally as fitting songs. Guy really seems to have an ear for it.

Everything was PaxHadrian17's "fault". :ROFLMAO:
You've mentioned so many times before how good music is in SG that I gave it a try. And I didn't regret it, because there are quite a few tracks that are very catchy, and will stick in your head for days. Neither before, nor since have I played other AVN with the music on, only in Summer's Gone.

My personal favorites are: Beza - Flashing Neon Signs; Grace Mesa - Diamonds Into Dust

You are so right that I would give your post 10 likes if I could.
I even keep the soundtrack separate, which I haven't done with other AVNs.
I especially like The Intangible. Encyclopedia of Frozen Dreams, Interdimensional Amity...
But Red Kite by YOUTH 83 is probably my favorite.

...
I remember Oceans saying that he actually builds scenes around the music that he happens to find and like, not the other way around. This is why the music fits these cinematic scenes so precisely. And it's obviously quite impossible to simply replace the soundtrack of such a scene and get the same results - the feeling, visual, audible and emotional impact.

What I also like a lot is that Oceans games make you feel as if you were watching a movie, although most images are static. They just feel like movie scenes, because they are made as if they were: the locations are treated as movie sets with the camera placement, zoom level, depth of field and scene lighting and the placement of the characters. Maybe not always, but often enough to notice.
I haven't seen another VN that has this kind of feeling. PhillyGames has been trying to do the same and is pretty good at it, but I still like Oceans work better. This could be a personal subjective preference, because I am unable to explain why exactly.

Hi,

I recently saw a post with a list of great games. The status of the game was also shown in this list. I think, that it was a post from this thread. Unfortunatelly I could not find it. If someone know what I'm talking about, please send me the link of this post.

Thanks

Yeah, it's funny that.

As much as I would like to scoff and claim I don't give a fat rat's nat about poxy AVN music, I do have an SG soundtrack album on my 'phone. Sadly, this includes songs Ocean can no longer use in his AVN.

The other day, I was playing (what I think is) an excellent AVN for the first time. The story is really compelling and the game well-made. However, I came away thinking the AVN felt so sterile. Why? There was no soundtrack, no music to provide emotional cues during the playing/reading experience.

It's only when you play an AVN with a really good soundtrack that you really notice AVNs without any soundtrack.
