As a fan of hypno content i can assure you that you are not entirely correct. Some quality hypnosis plots take longer to start than most of Eroge due step by step induction slow personality/values rewriting and establishing of triggers. Hypnosis is not about getting laid fast, it's about establishing control and reforming people to your liking. Though i admit that it is often used as plot device which works like magic without any preamble - but those are garbage level and not hypnosis per se. There are rare exeptions to this rule where instant hypnosis is used as enabler for interesting fetishes and situations (Fudegaki soft stuff).
Hmm.. Still hypno is a way to set things to your hand without having to deal with the other party feelings. However you look at it, it is a shortcut to pass by the process of convincing someone to share your world view. Personally I think it's a bit of a cheap mechanic. Even if you "convince" someone by hypnosis, you do not get the real feelings, but only those you implanted by force (yes I consider using hypnosis the same as using force).
I do not say that's a bad thing, but it's not for me because I want real feelings/love in a VN, and not implanted fake ones. As said - I get that people like that kind of thing, and who am I to criticize that? Everyone his/her/it's taste of course. But to say that hypnosis is not a shortcut is a bit too far for me.
It's a bit of a shame it's not for me, because I really like the art of this game. Oh well. At least there are enough people that can enjoy it, and that's what matters...

That's how it looks to you because it's not your fetish. You don't grok it, so you're overlooking that just as with the romantic stories you mentioned, the build-up is often the point in itself.
