RPGmaker (Last Sovereign) breaking desktop

When I open the last sovereign specifically, (but not other RPGmaker games), it fucks my desktop. All of my desktop icons get pushed to one side of the screen, with most disappearing entirely. I WANT to play the game but I really don't want to have to keep trying to fix this. Anyone know?

Press F1 and turn off "Launch in Full Screen" and restart the game. Use F6 to resize the window or F5 for full screen without a resolution change.
