Release notes v0.23b - "Movie Night Reloaded"

Part Deux of being forced to watch Avatar. Fun, right?

This update features the Tyler and Emmett "dates." Remember, you can only dominate Emmett or submit to Tyler. They are both locked in their respective roles.

If you're having trouble accessing their dates, go back to Chapter IV when Marky has you cornered in the bathroom. Choose the pink option to ask Tyler for help (for Tyler's path) or the blue option (for Emmett's path).

I also went back to improve the writing of the prologue and chapter I. I have grown as a writer since starting this project, so I wanted to rephrase sentences and add extra descriptors. The story itself remains unchanged. I'll tackle chapters II to IV in later updates.

Aaand I changed the school art for the 100th time. Yes, I'm fickle. The other one was too joyful and saturated. The building's supposed to be weathered and depressing, surrounded by an overgrown garden. Now the image reflects that.

Lastly, I messed around with font installation. The new font makes the text all cool and stylish without ruining readability (sans serif is king.)

Overview:
Being sent to St. Agnes Reform School really sucks. To make matters worse, your worst bully awaits you there, ready to torment you. Wait, why does he have a hard-on?

Reform School is a twisted exploration of power dynamics. Will you confront your bullies head-on, abusing them in search of revenge as you ascend the social hierarchy? Or will you embrace your role as a submissive and surrender completely, accepting your place beneath stronger-willed men?

Prepare yourself for a degradation-fueled kinky gay game (MM only). It's a journey filled with name-calling, humiliation, cruelty, and intense psychological and physical abuse. If you're yearning for lovey-dovey relationships or a vanilla experience, this story is not for you.

There are no images beyond the avatars. The game is completely powered by my wordy writing and your imagination.

I won't include photos or gifs in the passages. It's just words, other than the avatars.
I know that the expectation for this kind of game is usually porn gifs peppered among the words, but I'm going for "immersive book". That's why I'm so descriptive, I don't lean on images.
Sorry to disappoint again. Hope you stick around anyway.

I'm still unsure if domming Marky will have a power bottom option.
I might do that.
I dunno, I'm unsure if that matches Marky's and MC's POV that bottom = fag, top = straight a hole is a hole.
I'd have to find a way to incorporate that into the text while being truthful to the characters.

Yeah, Tyler's route is and will continue to be the scarier one. I'm going for slightly different moods depending on the LI you pick.
His is certainly the darkest.

And arguably Samuel's, since MC is gaslighting and manipulating an actual straight guy into gay sex. It's not scary but it is twisted.

so basically Emmett > Samuel > Haruki > Marky > Tyler , so that Emmett's story is totally dom, Tyler's totally sub and the ones in between can be both but they need increasing levels of assertiveness (talking from the MC point of view).

(not sure about the order of Samuel and Haruki -also not considering the principal so far, considering the limited content I'm not sure if he'll be available and at which level)

Thanks for warning me. Mod didn't update the year. I fixed it myself now.

If that's a more submissive to less submissive list, it's basically right, just flip Samuel with Haruki.
Samuel's doesn't start off submissive at all, although he'll play along for the "rituals".

I love that the game is focused on written description. I wish there were more games like this. A lot of games out there focus on gifs and pictures that are all different and don't even match the description of the characters, plus they're lacking descriptions.
I guess I just prefer reading and I love it when the writing is good - and this game is, indeed, well-written.

That being said, I didn't expect to like Marky this much...

I'm just dying for the small glimpses of Marky going soft on MC, but I'm aware that this is not that kind of game so I'm not getting my hopes up (at least not too much... *cries*). I even thought he's endearing at some point... (what the heck is wrong with me?)
And there's this really nice scene, when MC goes on theater date with Haruki but then returns to the room to Marky, where Marky hugs him and falls asleep hugging him... Again, I know it's not a romantic game, but I love the scene and I hope there'll be a route where Marky becomes at least a little gentler with MC (if that doesn't happen, well, I still like the game).

Does this dev have any other games? I like their writing so I wanna check them out if there are any!

I think a lot of games lean on images too much and some forget to properly develop the scene and describe stuff that's happening because the image is there to do their job for them. I find words more arousing than images. And that's the most important reason why I went this route. I don't want to lean on real porn and take away from my writing.
I also don't want to have to research hours of porn to find what I'm looking for. That's very time consuming and would probably bring me down and make me even slower.

As for Marky, well, I just answered someone on itch that basically asked for the same thing and I'll copy and paste what I said there:
Marky can be nice and borderline romantic if he gets his way. But, remember, he's abusive, so he'll turn on you on a dime, as soon as you do anything wrong, and snap back into evil mode.

Continuing... He's not all bad all the time, but he's always a little bad.

As for the scene you mentioned, of Marky hugging MC... I'm sorry to shatter your dreams, but that really wasn't at all romantic. That was him making sure MC can't run away again. He's painfully holding on, very tightly, making sure MC can't get up at all.

You'll like the next update I'm currently writing. Marky is somewhat nice in it... at least for a little while.

I don't have any other games. I do have a lot of plans after I finish this one, whenever that may be.

Release notes v0.23c - "Movie Night Rises"

Third time watching Avatar. Soon we'll beat Tyler's record.

It's time for the highly anticipated, much-requested Marky Sub date! Delve deeper into your favorite unhinged bully and strengthen your bond with him. You'll also get to be his bitch (fun!)

I know... I know... I'm sorry, Doms. This update is smaller in scale and has nothing tailored for you. Crafting Marky's dates has proven challenging, especially since the dominant path involves a completely different set of circumstances (Marky's got a broken nose and is high on pills, for one). That means writing two unique dates from scratch, unlike Haruki, who got the same basic date, only forking into two paths during the sexual part. I'll tackle Marky's Dom date next.

I had a mix-up with the character heights. I apparently don't know how the imperial system works (nor should I, METRIC SYSTEM RULES). Still, I've corrected the issue, and now you'll see their real height in both meters and feet/inches during character intros.

Emmett's avatar has been shaved. Now he looks his age.

Finally, per several complaints and requests, I added a toggle to remove homophobic slurs. I get it; they can be triggering for some, even though homophobia is an important part of the story. Fair warning: All slurs are replaced with "bitch", which leads to repetitive phrasing and a few sentences seeming nonsensical. So, I recommend reading it as intended, but if you find the slurs too uncomfortable, feel free to toggle them off in 'Preferences' on the sidebar.

Great update as always. Is there a way to get on Marky's good side or is the drawer always the final destination? The coma ending was also very dark, Tyler and Marky's relationship is a very strange one. Is the school actually a major catalyst for everyone's behavoir or were they like this before?

You can't escape the drawer.
He always planned to put you in there, even if you hadn't rebuffed his advances in the shower. In his warped logic, he's doing it out of necessity so that you can't cheat on him. He would have been nicer about it if he had gotten to fuck you, though.

I'm proud of that game over. It tells readers a lot about Marky and what one can expect from him in the long run.

Marky wasn't like this before. He wasn't as bad (but he was plenty bad already.)
Tyler... flourishes there, he has free reign to create his schemes. He was always evil but couldn't enact most of it.
Haruki's gotten more cautious and worried about how other's view him. He wasn't as self-hating before.
Samuel... poor thing, he hasn't changed. He's still the same nice himbo as before.
And Emmett embraced his submissive tendencies although he still has a major issues embracing being gay.
