In terms of skill, I hate OP/super smart MC. Like in many games I've played, the MC is like genius programmer/hacker. While it's fiction/fantasy, I hate when it's too far from reality. There always a trade off in real life. You're a smart hacker, you have no normal life. You're great at socialize with hundreds of friends or have ladykiller's trait, small chance you're good at things that need a solitude life like programmer/hacker/gamers.

In terms of characteristic, I hate when they're too naive/kind or too slutty/pervert/evil. But also it's boring when the character just straight normal. For me, the best setting for MC should be either 1/4 or 3/4 on pervertness or kindness/evilness. Let the NPC who had super weird/flat normal characteristic.

But you can scratch of all that, by render the game with the best of the best setting, as majority people just tired with shitty image. If you do that, you're game start with 60% approval. Then ... story, model, dialog fill the rest 40%.

The poll is missing ugly fat guy aka dad the pervert.

I personaly like manipulative main characters.
Those who plan there conquests.
Smart, capeable comptent without going into the gary stu area.

If there is one thing i hate it is main charaters getting lucky.
Just happend to find a magic mind control tome.
Bitch screams out her shame while masturbating.
Door open at just the right time.
Ugh.

I want the main charater to earn his harem through careful manipulation and plotting.
If the main charater just gets what he needs its remove the feeling of winning.
Of earning.

I tend to like games that start off with a semi normal guy who is initially having a bad time for whatever reason and has a chance to turn his life around (or not). If he starts the game off and he's already some sort of stud then it just seems anticlimactic when he gets his way. Oh look, a guy with Brad Pitt's looks and money is successful with the ladies... How is this a surprise?

I think this is why a lot of games start off with an MC who is a bit of a loser at first or at the very least a guy who's relationships are on the ropes and he has to try and fix them. If he already has a perfect life then where is the struggle? I guess you could make a game where a guy has it all and has to watch his life fall apart but I can't see anyone other than a cuck enjoying a story like that.

I prefer a normal adult male, age 30+. No wife/GF at the start of the game (I always try to get rid of them no matter what).

protagonist is least important, it's the other agonists that make for a good game.

aunt agonist is always good. the more agonism the better

none of the above. although the teen creep is closest. not because he's a teen but because he starts as a powerless loser with potential to go somewhere. potential being the important part, not the loser part.

usual character development rules apply. to be interesting the character needs to be both relatable (scratch winners) and it has to go through a CHANGE during the story. that applies regrdless of the mc type.

IF you wanna write about a winner, which you probably shouldn't because it'll be boring, you need to write a story about his fall from grace. no other way. even with all the creeper games around this still seems to be nonexistent (on the male mc side). could be interesting if someone gave it a real shot. might be a hard sell though.

so basically I prefer a MC who starts with nothing and has to work their way forward. basically same what malaficus said earlier, just not restricted to manipulation.

also agree that characters must be complex and have contradictory traits. people often complain that chars go from good guy to rapist etc, but that's not the problem with it. the problem is it wasn't sold emotionally, you didn't believe it because it wasn't set up. you definitely should mix good & bad, but you need to hint at the trait's existence before acting on it.

Dominant lesbian female protagonist with housewife female love interest. Could be the other way round too, I don't mind too much, who is the protagonist, as I don't relate to characters in porn games.

If there has to be a male protagonist, no teenage male protagonist please! Especially, if it's some kind of mom-son game, make male protagonists men, not whimpy boys.

I voted female protagonist. Teen to adult. I like the female MC's from Annas affection and Glamour game. High school would be interesting experience story from a female's perspective watching them compete and bully each other and get revenge with sabotage and blackmail from a female's point of view. I don't mind playing the housewife if she is a hotty and the story is good. Female protags games always have a bit more to them anyways because of things like clothing options and work options that male protag stories usually skip.

Male protagonist teen to adult. Non creepy teen ones. Being blueballed for 2 years of development and being stuck with masterbation scenes is boring. If I'm going to play a teen male I want the teen male stud experience and not reliving a creepier version of my 12-14 year old life before I started to get my dick wet with classmates and older women who were 4-10 years older or twice my age like my mothers friends and neighbors wife.

I really want to play a female or male vampire game. I think that would be an interesting story and the writer would have so much lore and options to work with. Different time periods the lifestyles, clothing and architecture that comes with it. Choices could be for survival or just being sadistic. Flashbacks that you can make choices in. Ok going to find me a vampire novel to read now.
