I feel like you need gameplay/story and render quality for a VN or similar game (which i think is what yo're really asking here), it really depends on your format because i love MGD which is functionally a non rendered text based game and that delivers on gameplay and writing(in lieu of story) and is just as enjoyable or more so even than Pine Falls which delivers on story and renders, they aren't really compatible games due to one being a BFRPG and the other being a conventional VN, so it's pretty subjective.

For me it's all about the art and story - I have to find the character physically attractive, and be given a reason why I'm pursuing them or having sex with them. Otherwise I'd just go to Pornhub! Gameplay and Features are the cherry on the cake - the thing that can make a good game great - but they're not the soul of most games.

Story and art, gameplay over anyone of those goes against what people want because who are we all kidding, most of these are barely games and that's fine. They are interactive stories.
