Another promising one gutted by the digital Nazis of the Patreon "Trust and Safety" Committee. Their slogan should be - "Trust us, we know what's good for you!".

It's beyond me why adult devs keep flocking to a platform like this - it's obvious they don't want your money or your business, yet everyone's all too eager to give it to them anyway, even as they get dragged through the dirt and kicked in the stomach.

Maybe one day devs will wise up a bit and release via a free platform with an optional tip jar.

Such a shame to see this get destroyed.

It's not a foolish statement, he's in his right to be upset. And yes you are right, Patreon has little choice. Because they are already an established community with many members dependent on Paypal for their transactions, they can't just stop supporting Paypal or they will lose thousands of (paying) members who have no other choice than using Paypal. Patreon allows people of 13 years or older to make an account on Patreon. Anyone can open a virtual bank account on Paypal no matter your age. Patreon also indicates one must be legally an adult in order to use Patreon to finance projects, with Paypal they can circumvent these rules while still looking all clean and white hat, because who is going to report a 15 year old for supporting a project financially on Patreon? Paypal is indeed pulling Patreon's reins, but this is inevitable for all crowdfunding platforms that use virtual banks this way. The only way to ensure you can continue financing these projects is for the company to also gain licenses to start their own online financial services. Easier said than done.

They do have one choice, but I'm pretty sure they wouldn't like it because it does mean either completely giving up a source of income or taking time out of game development to work on something that does fit the ToS.

Making a version patreon can accept might be necessary though. The problem is that other sites like that will have much fewer users usually and it's a hassle for people to setup things through multiple websites if they want to support other things too. Some decent solutions like giving the user the ability to change the names or making it easy for a patch to be done have already been mentioned in this thread.

why do they have it open for 13y olds? no 13y old have access to a bank account even if they do have one, and they are not allowed to buy stuff without there parents concent so that is very odd.. seems like the real problem is with paypal.. i hope they get a brain soon or they can kiss there money goodbye when a new site comes up. just hope that will be sooner rather then later

It's 2018 kids don't need consent when all it takes is a credit/debit card number and security code to buy anything online

I haven't been on here in awhile and I just wen't to @ManicMinxy Patreon page and it's sad to see yet another talented developer being forced out by the bigoted Patreon Nazis! Yet what really pisses me off more is the fact that Patreon boots these developers/artist but yet the lame ass pig fuckers don't go after the sickos who has CP on their Patreon pages!

What I don't understand is why hasn't f95zone or any other site like this added donation buttons and tip jars to developers profiles for people who want to support them! It's not that hard to do and then the developers wouldn't have to deal with Patreon anymore!

Foolish statement? I take it youre the resident idiot of F95 then with your amount of posts.

If a developer removes the thing that makes his game popular, he will lose money as well as popular backing/support. Thats a fact. You know this as well, so why be an idiot about it?

Now there are other platforms out there or you can do your own thing. Mr. dots did just that with DMD and you can still donate "coffee" which puts a 3rd party between you and your precious credit card information (which is why alot want to use paypal so they dont give out their details).

So saying there is no choice is just utter nonsense.

PS: I also wrote how other developers got around the problem with patreon/paypal, so really, you were just trying to be a dick. Well done.

Solution, screw paypal and patreon and get something new that works like a normal donation site or a online default pay system or whatever the porn industry have, after they see the loss in income they might change there foolish ideas.. doublemoral or not money is always a factor that beats everything else.. if they had moral then they would not take money for doing nothing, all they should be allowed to do is getting donations to keep there website up lol

Update:
Currently I haven't gotten a reply from my rep. It has been nearly 2 weeks, which means I am sure to miss out on the pledges donated to me this month, and I will have to recover from the financial burdens. I am already working extra hard to try and compensate for the financial loss by working on the latest update!

I checked your twitter and saw your tweet to Patreon and the reason why they haven't answered yet is that you didn't @ them correctly: you wrote "@PatreonSupportMy" and forgot a space before "My" meaning they didn't get notified of your tweet.
