Hello out there.
I was wondering whether or not it is actually legal to download these games? I hear about pratreon, and i haven't payed anything, and i bet that is the case for most people on this forum.

Most of us are patreon of several games and we can discuss for days if have the game here is a real damage or not for the devs.
However strictly speaking most the games are pirated version. So no it is not legal.

Depends, I submit a ticket for a mod to edit my game thread every time I have an update, and I give them the update. So if the developer is doing that, then I can't see anything wrong with it. If the games uploaded without the Devs knowledge or permission then technically it's illegal, but it's like downloading music, worst you'll get is a letter from your ISP to cease.

Despite arguments to the contrary and peoples mental gymnastics to justify it to themselves this is a pirate site and we are stealing games.

Some devs don't mind, some do but for the most part yes it is illegal to download pirate software.

The good thing about this site is it sticks to small games and developers that are less likely to go the legal route and that's one of the reasons it doesn't host AAA games because publishers have a hard on for that shit.

The concept of being a patron of the arts... supporting starving artists, so that they can concentrate on their art, rather than having to get a 9-5 job, has been around for thousands of years. The wealthy, kings, and queens, (even the church for a time) have paid some of the world's biggest perverts a lot of money, so that they can do what they do best.

Art is meant to be seen, proudly displayed, and discussed by everyone. It's meant to be enjoyed, and shared.

If you enjoy someone's art, and you can afford to toss a few pieces of silver in their cup, don't hesitate. If you haven't got a penny, A ha'penny will do, If you haven't got a ha'penny, Then God bless you.

Never respond to a letter of complaint that you receive from your ISP. They are required to forward your response to person complaining. The person complaining usually only has an IP, with no personally identifying information.

Many crooks today make false complaints to ISPs fishing for information. If you respond to the complaint, even if you simply deny it, your response is forwarded to the crook, including your personal information. The crook will then contact you directly asking for money, threatening to take you to court, etc. Many cases, where moms have responded saying "oh, sorry, my son must have downloaded those torrents" and the crooks took this as an admission of guilt, and sued for 50,000 damages.

Don't ignore court orders, but never incriminate yourself, unless you are really guilty of a crime, in that case you should turn yourself in, and be promptly hanged.

Many of the games on this site have the devs of that the game on here as well.
Yes it may be against the law but you do know that the FBI first has to track you down and have prove you did it, The USA has laws that make it hard for the FBI to just show up and say we know what you did an on top of that the FBI does not care about small crimes like this, the only ones who go to prison for pirating are retards who make money off it so if you only download to play it for yourself the chances of you getting arrested is like 1% to 5% chance. But again many devs put their own games on this site an the ones who don't have no way of knowing what one of use downloaded the game.
I'll end by saying this if you keep your mouth shut and don't go around telling people you pirate stuff the police are not gonna know and are not gonna kick your door down.

Restricted to games, most of the games aren't even done yet, I don't know if a commercial restriction is already applied. Especially because it's not something they are putting a price on. Patreon is a donation system, it is not like Ebay or Amazon. If a creator is upset, we can simple come here and ask to remove.

Now, Daz products shared here are another thing, they are all established products, have a price and licences behind. I made a particular decision to never download those, especially being a creator I don't want any trouble with Daz company, but I don't judge anyone thinking different than me.

There's two possible paths games on here could be "illegal", namely violations of copyright law and obscenity. As far as copyright goes there might be a few games where the creators are very uptight about piracy. I find this to be an insane proposition. With a Patreon game you're living off donations and you're better off spreading your content as far and wide as you can manage.

Technically a copyright holder could sue you for downloading their game, but the process would be nearly impossible from their end and the damages they could win would be minimal because I seriously doubt too many adult game creators are registering their copyrights.

As far as obscenity goes I would say there's a small possibility that the Department of Justice might go after porn games for taboo content. There they would almost certainly go after creators, not players, and even in the worst of situations they would face an uphill battle proving obscenity in the modern context.

Thanks a lot for your main contribution here, dear mate.
Strictly legally speaking, that's just the right way to behave, following bare common sense - and it's great that it's the same way according to the laws in all the Countries of Europe too, to my knowledge.
So, everyone of us should know what do, in that unfortunate case, and why, most of all, for keeping the right of free exchanging informations et al. alive and well (told it in short).

Just my own cent, of course.

With best regards,
