are they most safe cos i saw someone else talk about some of the other links that could make download something else and they also dose use the most
After Googling GoFile and Mega upload a Google post states:
Is Gofile safe?

Security features: Gofile.io employs a variety of security precautions, such as SSL encryption and malware scanning. Nonetheless, it is critical to remember that no security system is perfect, and a file may contain malware even after it has been checked.

For Mega upload:
All files that are uploaded to MEGA's servers are encrypted on the side of the client, meaning the user is the only one who can decrypt their own data. Along with two-factor authentication, this makes for a very secure cloud storage service.

Really depends really. Be sure to have protective software before you download any games on here.
"For example, you would never fuck a girl without a condom, why? because stds would happen."
Let me know if this helped you.

An AV's primary purpose is to try to protect you if you've already fucked up. Going along with the "condoms" analogy it is essentially birth control. You should not rely on it to protect you or even accurately identify viruses (tons of false positives)

Use common sense and don't download obviously sketchy shit. Run everything you do download in a sandbox, virtual machine, or separate device without internet. An antivirus is not enough

Good point, it is good to have a virus protective software though in my opinion. That's better to have something to protect you, rather than just only having windows defender which can't protect you from any viruses. There are viruses out there now that attach to firewalls. Some people say "Windows Defender" is enough to protect you from viruses. Bullshit.

I'd like to download N7.
They already have a slut.

That's because maybe they didn't pay attention to the download. Either they didn't use common sense or an AV app, or both. I have never gotten a virus from anything here. Hell, in the 45 years of playing around on computers, I have only gotten on virus ever... and that was because I intentionally infected one of my computers to test an AV app.

While I wouldn't rule out a VPN for some folks because of their activities - this is a step beyond into paranoia, in my opinion.

A VPN is the safest way to browse the internet. The only downside of a VPN is that it is slow at times.

iirc isn't windows defender on windows 11 actually good? iirc it actually does protect you, but idk.tho on windows 11, it's called security.

also, is Ublock a good way to protect yourself from viruses that sometimes appear in sites. probably not all of them, but some of them at least I think?

hello druski789 i see that you need help on what virus protection program is best to use. well, firstly i have never heard of Ublock, and i would strongly recommend something else. honestly there are some protection software that are good and there are some that are not as efficient. the best one to go with is Bitdefender, its the best program to catch most viruses and its guaranteed to protect you whenever you download something or if you are generally browsing the internet. Trust me, i use it, and Bitdefender has protected me flawlessly. Do stay away from Norton, Panda, Kaspersky, Malawarebytes, and McAfee, because those are not as efficient. Unlike other protection programs, Bitdefender is a suite not just a program, and Bitdefender has very top notch security features built into the program itself that will ensure you are safe online always.

Hope my suggestion helped you, if you not able to afford Bitdefender, i would suggest getting something equivalent as good, but if you want to be protected well on the internet you will need Bitdefender to ensure your safety.

Well, something else would be less effective.
As reference, on my firefox it's currently applying 170,000 filters, only half being for ads.

This being said, strictly speaking UBlock isn't a protection software, but more a prevention software. It will not block viruses and malware, but block most of the queries that can possibly add one to the web page you're viewing. So by itself it will never be enough, and it is of absolutely no use regarding the current topic (is it safe to download files from here).

when i was suggesting something else other than Ublock, i was referring to a virus protection program.

as to your explanation, yes, Ublock is meant for preventing annoying ads on websites. but i found that the extension Adblock Ultimate for Firefox is the most effective to use if you want to block ads for porn sites, or ads throughout the internet. to be honest, ads are just annoying and by having Adblock Ultimate it helps get rid of most ads for most websites.

anne O'nymous i do want to follow up and add clarity on what you said "is it safe to download files from here." the truth is, downloading a download from the internet is not safe, on here, or even anywhere on the internet. reason being is because firstly, its uploaded by another person, that person can be anyone. also, you are not only putting trust in the uploader but are also willing to download something across the internet which may or not be risky to download.

This is why a good virus protection program is paramount to have. Bitdefender can detect a file its detected as malicious or not, how can it detect it? well after the file is downloaded it will either be deleted immediately depending on the severity of the virus, or the file will be quarantined awaiting deletion. Whatever you do, don't put trust in windows defender at all, some say its good enough, but that is not true. viruses are getting even smarter these days, some can even cling on and attach to firewalls. Despite this, taking security measures to high priority is needed. Hell, encryption of drives, maximum network protection, virus protection program, encrpytion of data files or important files, are just a few methods to stay protected.

Lastly, there is no ensured way to tell if a file is safe to download. but most downloads provided in mirror links such as Mega, Gofile, Pixeldrain, Uploadhaven, Mixdrop, and Workupload usually are safe, but not entirely. even after you download a file anywhere on the internet, use a virus protection program like Bitdefender to scan the file firstly before you even open it. most games have an .exe or excuteable file, i have had instances where the excuteable was a virus and my virus protection program found and detected that immediately and deleted the file. All in all, be safe what you download on the internet, and make sure you use programs that ensure you are protected succinctly.

No, it's its main use, but it's meant and designed for query filtering. Therefore you can filter whatever, from ads to the annoying, but totally safe, parts of a particular site.

the truth is, downloading a download from the internet is not safe, on here, or even anywhere on the internet. reason being is because firstly, its uploaded by another person, that person can be anyone. also, you are not only putting trust in the uploader but are also willing to download something across the internet which may or not be risky to download.
There's way more reasons why it's never totally safe.

The uploader can be 100% worthy (your brother by example) and yet it would still be safe only up to 99%. This because you've no guaranties that the file you get is the one he uploaded.
The file can have been corrupted by the hosting site, or by someone who compromised the hosting site. And here no one is safe, in the early 2000, the OpenBSD repository have been compromised and was offering corrupted files. So, if the servers from an OS design over the principle that "paranoia is the best security", and that let you do nothing by default, can be compromised, any hosting site can. And the file can also be corrupted during the download. It's less easy but yet still possible.
A solution to this is the signature hash. But even this do not guaranty the security at 100%, unless (to keep my example) it's your brother who gave it to you, and he gave it through another media that the one where you'll get the file. But when it's the hosting site that provide it, you have no guaranties that the hash haven't been generated/changed after the file corruption.

This is why a good virus protection program is paramount to have.
Assumed that you aren't a big target and therefore will never get zero days exploit or code.
And "big target" doesn't necessarily mean that you are someone important. By example, the secretary of some CEO isn't that important, but she's also a perfect entry point to the company network. She's less trained in computer security, and therefore more pron to do some transfer from her home computer to her work one, while having higher privileges than most of the other people in the company.

viruses are getting even smarter these days, some can even cling on and attach to firewalls.
What is far to be something new. My times as security admin start to date and my memory isn't what it used to be, but it was already happening in the early 2000.

Despite this, taking security measures to high priority is needed. Hell, encryption of drives, maximum network protection, virus protection program, encrpytion of data files or important files, are just a few methods to stay protected.
This is a really bad advice.
Of course, I'll not say that people don't need to be protected, but too many protections, especially when handled by someone that haven't been trained to use them, will lower the level of security, not increase it.
There's a reason why nowadays high level security suits are operated on separated computers, one by element of the suit. It's because they tend to interact too intensively and it tend to create holes in their points of collision.
For a personal use, an anti-virus coupled to a sandbox, doubled with good practices, are enough to cover 99% of the risks. For a more advanced use, an ip filter coupled with a proxy, both on separated computers in the LAN, cover the rest.
But anyway, whatever you are doing, you'll never goes higher than 99%.

anne O'nymous i would like to ask you a question, do you think a VPN (virtual private network) is enough to stay protected on the internet? i would think so, honestly i don't connect to the internet unless i have it on.

Let's say that I'm a cracker who hate this forum and all the perverts that goes here.
Using my skills, I achieve to found where the site is hosted. Then, I compromise the routers used by the hosting provider in border of its network, and force their routing table goes to my proxy (or works directly on them, it depend what they use as routers).
The said proxy do a basic thing: It have a replacement list, and when I have uploaded a corrupted version of a game to a given host, and someone ask the opening page for that game, it replace the original link by mine.
Without the SSL connection (that can still be bypassed under some conditions), do you believe that using a VPN would protect you against this ?

The answer is: No.

A VPN only protect you from your PC to the out gate your VPN provider. What is mostly useless unless you connect through WiFi.
As counterpart, like there's less VPN providers than ISP, it concentrate a big part of the traffic to some points. And therefore it increase the risk. Achieve to compromise the routers in border of a VPN provider, whatever from its network, or from his peer network, and you'll corrupt more connections that by doing the same but with an ISP.

Of course, all this is theoretical.
It need skills to do this, and there isn't this many people able to achieve this. Whatever how powerful nowadays internet bad guys looks, there's no skills behind using a rootkit sold by someone else. And, of course, routers are expected to be secured and controlled regularly, while they rarely have the capability to directly host the kind of proxy I talk about. And using a secondary host for the proxy mean that you leave too much trace, and that your attack can be easily stopped.
But the truth is that we put too much faith on those who secure the networks. The number of routers who still use the default login/password, as main root access or because it haven't been revoked, is way higher that your nightmare can imagine.

TL;DR:
VPN do not protect you unless you connect through WiFi, yet that protection is relative and apply only on what is generally the shortest part of the connection.
