Ren'Py - Hero Corruption 2 [v0.65b] [diogaoo]

For the most part, this is exactly what I want out of a porn game. There is constant high quality lewd content and the gameplay loop is fun enough to be entertaining but doesn't take too much focus to distract from the content. The only issue that I have is that the roguelike death mechanic causes the player to repeat the early game content a lot and not see much of the later game stuff. It might be good to add some kind of checkpoint where the player can continue without redoing the entire game, or maybe a "training mode" to practice matches against enemies we have faced before and find their weakness or view their lewd endings.

Looking forward to how this develops with future updates!

Really like the progression system and grinding to get stronger and face stronger enemies. Had a lot of fun playing it.

BUT...

Considering its a porn game, its a huge letdown. No gifs/videos is already a pretty big downside for games using real porn, but it can still work. But having almost no good finishing cumshot pictures really kills it for me. Its really hard to have a climax when all you get is a blank screen at the end and just MAYBE get a picture of a girl with a little bit of cum on her tits or something. 0 good facial/creampie/bodyshots pictures

Hidden gem, simple but engaging gameplay that works with the artwork to get you horrny.
Out of all games that focus on femdom this is the only one I've played that really gets it right.

My only gripe would be that the game is pretty bad at giving you important information. Like how you can't equip things before you get the backpack.

While I didn't really like the game in the first few versions, it really improved a lot.

Pros:
-good tutorial
-lots of hot girls/encounters
-many different personalities
-great writing which you can enjoy
-great pictures (while I don't enjoy normal porn, I could enjoy these real pictures)
-nice gameplay which makes it enjoyable to play regardless of content
-game over scenes!!! (amazing)
-sound (much better than no sound)

Cons:
-no story at all, but much potential
-no explanation how the "corruption"-stat really works, we just know it's bad
-fighting gets slightly boring over time, but there are some extras like quick-time-events that make it fun again (but far too little)
-no endgoal or ending, so once you're strong enough to beat everyone you're just stuck there forever until you intentionally lose
-to get all the possible endings, you have to start a new game A LOT - while this isn't an issue for the enemies of the first or even second area, but getting specific endings of enemies of the later areas is a big grind

Overall a good game, very enjoyable even now with lots of potential for improvement. Very excited for the full release!

Great game with a great progression. Gamplay is amazing and the scenes are great in their semplicity.
The only point could be the audio that sometimes is a little bit silly.
Can't wait to play the finished version.

So the whole concept of ejaculation = corruption/game over kinda ruins the game as a whole because you get punished for enjoying yourself and it makes you want to just turn off all the pictures and speed the game up (very unnecessary amounts of waiting for no reason) so that you can rapidly grind to being able to just beat everyone.
The concept is nifty, it's just a poor execution since it's basically all about edging and then losing pretty much everything all at once the moment you climax.
Like, maybe if there were some sort of religious reason where every sperm is sacred or something it would make at least a little sense, but otherwise it's basically edging simulator.

Trouble is that to not get to a game over situation, you should try to see as little of it as possible. Also, what you encounter is pretty randomized so if you want to see the trans encounters for instance, you have no way to influence them occuring more often.

The combat system is also pretty simplistic, and to begin with you're basically doomed to lose out fairly quickly and it's game over. You get some experience that you can turn into a better start next game, but basically, it's grinding the same content over and over again, in order to get enough boosts to your next game to get further.

The sexy content could of course be better too, but the game mechanics is what is lacking here in my opinion.

I'd rather want the game to reward the player for doing all sorts of lewd bits

hmm. still images, no video, but there are plenty of images to make it hot. imo fappable to multiple girls.... some bugs but nothing serious.

it's a good timewaster. but without videos and the game in its current form imo it'a not 5/5. if it gets more updates i might change rating.

The Problem I have is that you literally stand no chance. Quite often you just 100% lose it doesn´t matter if you understand the game you will lose anyway. Again Aain Again and Again and than you hardly get any kind of growth at all. I have no problem with grinding but that here is just ridiculous.
But the absolute worst is that god damn fucking time limit. what was it, 14 days? thats the biggest crap of the game even if you somehow manage to build yourself up well the game just says fuck you and kills you anyway.

I never even managed to finish the first no matter how strong I was I had that map but never even found that miraculous castle people speak about. And than boom time limit again. Go back to start lose nearly everything.

If you lose because of your own mistakes cool. If you lose because the game fucks with you to force you into the same hour long grind over and over again than its just a terrible game.

Grindy, fun game, ton of content and hidden encounters that require you to read carefully sometimes, good kinks, and honestly, one of the few if not the only femdom battle fuck with game overs in this site, would like to see more of this type.

great game that still needs a lot of work. I have given it 5 stars cause i have played the original and really enjoyed it and expect a lot of that content to be added. One thing i would like are more comeback mechanics for when a run starts badly. Right now you might aswell restart if you get bad rng early and end up gaining a lot of corruption while not gaining a lot of money. Perhaps give the player more options when their corruption increases

Nice Run-based, RPG game, with a bit of difficulty to it, but with generally satisfying gameplay (albeit not huge in general size). The H-scenes are very Hot, and highly interactive, even with the limitations of the game's format (although they all use Pics from Porn Productions, with Credits provided both in the Corners of the pics, and for the Actresses' names, in the Codex entries for each Enemy). The price for the game is also decent (and the Dev is active and dedicated enough to currently deserve some support, too!). I do advise considering using the Console Cheats (that I also explain in my Files), at least after first Completing the game legit, to have the possibility of getting to any wished H-Scene immediately (as the game, sadly, does not have a proper Gallery for the Scenes).

It's February 2023, a year after my initial review, and seeing this game on the update page had me wondering if my initial impressions were a bit harsh.

Upon revisiting this game and playing through a few runs: No, they were not.

First, the good: The game's renpy port has far less wasted time than the online version, as there is no longer an imposed pointless delay between scene transitions, and you can click through text. Also, the fact that it's on Renpy means you can make use of the save editor to bypass all the trash gameplay design this game thrives on.

Now for the bad: The trash gameplay design remains terrible. Further, the Renpy version has far less content than the online version so people who actually like the gameplay loop must deal with the extraneous time-wasting features of the online version, such as unskippable text and aforementioned mandatory transition delay.

it's quite clear that the developer's design philosophy is focused on pointless grind and rng mechanics, with a few bits of simply wasting the player's time thrown in for good measure.

Some time during the past year, this game implemented a stamina system that adds nothing meaningful to the gameplay loop. The system serves only to artificially extend an encounter by reducing a player's attack power the more stamina you expend. While this sounds inoffensive in theory, a player only has three options in combat:
As there's no method of damage mitigation, defensive play, or even items to heal, stamina serves strictly as a way to extend combat and guarantee more damage on the player.

Meanwhile, enemies have no comparable system, and will always do full damage when they choose to attack. This is offset by the fact that enemies each have a set order of attacks they use, but there is no way a player can mitigate an opponent if they arbitrarily choose to impose status effects on the players, attack the player's lust score, or permanently increase a player's addiction.

Addictions themselves are another a terrible gameplay system, acting both as a damage multiplier when enemies of the addiction category attacks you with lust, as well as a skill check system to evade powerful enemy attacks. Unlike checks in other games however, the only progression a player experiences is an increase in difficulty the more addiction a player accrues. Failing a check results in a situation where you can no longer fight back, will take constant damage, gain more addiction, and require another check to escape.

Ultimately, the actual process of playing through game is a waste of time and effort.

Simple sandbox game with a completely garbage gameplay loop.

The primary design goal of wanting the player to constantly replay the game is undercut by the simple fact that constant loss due to pure randomness is not an example of enjoyable replayability. Arousal system means that every encounter only furthering the danger of the next.

Nothing about the actual gameplay loop is fun enough to encourage repeat playthroughs.

In summary, garbage game design.

Way, way too slow progression. Starting over from zero doesn't even feel bad because starting after 2 or 3 runs through the game gives you next to nothing progress wise. Loot/material drops are too infrequent that at a certain point you're just waiting for the run to end so you can start with your negative stats reset. Also, the inability to click through about 90% of the text ensures the game will get slower and slower as you progress since negative conversations and losing fights are completely unskippable conversations. Do not recommend without some serious reworking and QoL improvements by the dev.

Review based on v1.05b (online version):

Synopsis: - Main Hero goes on adventure through different locations and must resist the charms of several ladies who are trying to tempt and corrupt him with various sexual addictions. Will you give into the temptation of corruption or will you have the strength and resolve to remain clear-headed?

The Good:
+ Model selection is great (somewhere around 40 different models used) and the variety of fetishes will cater to most tastes
+ Visual material is of good quality with high res pics
+ The writing of the dialogues (if anyone reads those) is quite good, which makes the interactions interesting and different
+ The game can be addictive if you are into beating the challenge and getting to final round of Castle and smashing all the bosses there
+ Game offers audio effects for various encounters which helps with immersive experience (however, there's no option or settings to turn it off, so if you don't want to hear them you need to mute the browser tab)
The Neutral:
= Game concept - aside from fighting in encounters, there's a little bit of puzzle-solving involved where player needs to figure out how to put pieces of the map together. Some might find it interesting and challenging, the others not so much since game doesn't really provide clear directions/hints about the end goal and steps along the way, so it involves some trial-n-error approach
= Game mechanics (for the most part) are well designed - there's a bit of dice-rolling, game of chance (random encounters) and stat-based strategy involved. Once you understand what you're supposed to do and the best way to go about it the game becomes easier. On the downside, there are some timed events and some random de-buffs (even if you win the encounter) that don't make sense and are annoying
= Missing visual material - during some encounters the player gets blank white or black screens and it's unclear whether it's intentional or if there should be video playing or something else
The Bad:
- Lack of direction - right from the start the game fails to explain what exactly you're supposed to do, how the game mechanics work during encounters, etc. Some of that info can be found in the Codex but you only get access to it on game Day 2 (!) and clicking through it is an onerous process. All this results in quite frustrating experience right from the beginning
- The UI - (for the most part) is fine during encounters, but it's annoying that player constantly needs to open the Codex to check his Corruption/Addictions stats - those should be permanently displayed on-screen as they are important when making game decisions. Also, the way text advances during encounters is inconsistent - sometimes it happens automatically, other times need to be advanced manually
- Memory consumption - while playing the game on browser with only one tab open it consumes up to 1 GB of RAM (sometimes even more than that), which is a lot for Java game. Perhaps this can be somewhat optimized
- The grind - the game is designed for repeating several cycles of 14 game days and building up stats to face tougher enemies. In the best case scenario the player will require at least 5 cycles before he can try entering the Castle and that is assuming there are no Bad Endings or other misfortunes along the way

The Verdict:
I like the variety and the challenges it presents, so I'd give it solid 3.5* for an interesting gameplay experience. However, you'll need to get past a steep learning curve and some frustrating experience at the very beginning when trying to figure things out. Some of these things can (and should) be addressed and fixed though, or many players might drop it early. If those get fixed in the final version, I'm willing to bump the score higher.
It's addictive, so I'd recommend checking it out and trying your luck on this adventure, but be warned - it will test your patience!
P.S. The Offline version seems to be working for some and not for others (myself included), so probably the best bet is to play the online version.

Revised review for Hero Corruption 2 v0.60c.

Many of the annoying things in the previous, html iteration are now improved. You no longer have to wait through a 5 second sunrise every morning or grind AS hard thanks to the passive tree that builds over time, but there are still many things that leave me unfulfilled.

The combination of real life media and text is almost satisfying, even if most of the models are dog-ugly. There are many scenes that make clever use of taunting comments and foreplay while switching pictures, but each encounter feels like it could be so much more. Not only does each foe have so few lines that you'll see repeats after 3 or 4 lines, but there's a HUGE missed opportunity here to escalate the narrative according to the player's lust percentage or the number of times the player's lost to the character, and other mechanics like that.

Additionally, and this is kind of a nitpick, the game uses transgender models for some encounters, but these encounters are blatantly timid. Not only is there not a single trans-based game over, but the trans scenes just kind of fade to black as soon as the MC cums. Why even add these characters if you're not going to commit?

Even with the passive tree, you'll still have to grind this game for an obscene number of hours just to see content beyond the first two zones. This wouldn't be so bad if not for the aforementioned lack of diversity and excitement in the encounters.

Overall, the game's hugely improved from where it was as an html, and it almost feels satisfying to me, but it still feels half-cooked.

really enjoy this game. Hits me right on many levels.. It can be very frustrating, but you have to remember this is a world where the hero is supposed to lose.. its right there in the title. Looking forward to more of this one and others like it!

WHat I like: it's different, interesting and chalanging. Nice pictures and premise. Design is bad. It requires thousands of clicks, while each click just reveals another line of text. This must be fixed. ALso, offline version does not work, or atleast there is no proper description how to make it work. It also needs re-balancing of the stats. Because if you chose the wrong starting tats you're doomed. And you can only find that out after 3-4 re-plays, which is enough to get annoyed.

Its an unrewarding chore of a game. That may as well just be clicker game. Its very addictive I'll give it that.

I get the gameplay idea its a roguelike, but it doesn't suit porn and its a terrible roguelike

the game gets harder the further you progress and every time you die you come back a little stronger so you can get a little bit further

However there is no variation, you'll be fighting the same 4 or 5 women on every playthrough and seeing the exact same images time and time again.

I gave it 4 lives and didn't see anything different on any playthroughs

The fighting is lame you basically just spam the attack button. If you win the fight you then return to camp and spam the rest button to improve health and reduce lust. then go out and fight.. rinse repeat.

The game actively punishes you for having sexy time with the ladies, you basically have to avoid it if you want any progression at all. great concept for a fap game.

the games saves in your browsers cache so you can't get to the physical save to alter it or indeed save it. I was playing in incognito mode so theres no way for me to exit the browser and keep my save. As this game would require a ton of playthrough to actual get anywhere that a fail from me.
