RPGM - Completed - Harem Fantasy: Good or evil will save the world [v1.30] [kamichichi]

Other people already described the game better than I could hope to, so I will just drop a few numbers to make you realize how terrible the random encounters can be.
After defeating a miniboss I recorded the path to the exit of his cave.
It took around 3 minutes, 180 seconds.
In these 3 minutes I had 8 random encounters, one every 3~8 seconds on the map. Imagine trying to do anything and being interrupted every 3~8 seconds, for hours... how close to a torture would it be?
I spent ~52 seconds navigating the map (29%) and the other 128 in useless mob fights (71%), more than twice.
From another point of view, going from point A to point B takes triple the time due to random encounters, in the best of circumstances (I was over leveled and had already explored the cave).
Repeat that on a 16+ hours playthrough... thousands of filler mob fights... for me it was painful, and I'm just a few hours in.
That is the base game, as intended. I read that if you cheat (or after you complete the game) you can get an item that blocks the random encounters; while I appreciate the possibility, maybe it should have been more accessible and more integrated with the default gameplay, like the switch for real time / turn based fights.

This game is pretty good honestly I won't say its great because there are a lot of problems imho that really knock it down. The story is great and the girls are beautiful with lots of quantity and variety.

The problems I had though with this game is well the game portion of it. The combat felt kind of random like some areas you got tons of enemies and other areas you didn't get many and even then they didn't feel balanced out. I think the best way to put this is if you ever played the original pokemon and your going through the first cave... yeah you want your max repels. The H-scenes were okay but I wish every girl (except the one elf) weren't all mega busty. My biggest issue was probably the boat. It was a neat idea but it felt really slow and pointless other then to indulge in the idea that your on a voyage that would take some time.

I do recommend playing it though its not bad at all just a lot of things can feel like they are getting in the way of proceeding the game.

I don't know if it's biased because I've played "Apostle" first (their 2nd game), before this game which is their first game (I believe?).
"Apostle" was AMAZING , but the writing on this one is.. Lazy? I love the idea of the good and evil path mechanism, but it's failing horribly.

The MC is a huge pervert from the start, which is fine for me at first, I mean that's not new, but the conversation on how the game trying to show the pervertedness to create humor out of it is just... Idk how to describe it but it's bad.

Almost on the entirety of the game joke is about breast, tits this tits that, boobs here boobs there, and somehow most of the women would just get a little offended at first and then seems ok at next.

Plus I hate how all of the women suddenly fall in love very easily with the MC, especially the party member, like how? Even if you never spent a private moment (date) with them, they'd just suddenly fall in love and want to suck our Di(gg)? Well I mean I can still understand about those who were saved by the MC.

There's a lot of unnecessary expressive reaction on the game, I guess they're trying to be funny? But It just makes it cringe to read.. 1 Example, what's up with the MC saying "Kyaa" between a serious conversation?

And omg don't even get me started on the sex scene, Idk why do they think making the MC sounds like a generic annoying npc while having sex is a good idea.. "C'mon baby" Baby this baby that.. Ugh, that makes the scene far less enjoyable

Plus all the women seems have the same traits on sex, I mean FFS all of them would just straight up submissive even swallowing the MC's spit on the first sex, and oh! there's a lot of copy pasted text on the party member sex scene, HUGE thumbs down on that!

The biggest proof of the lazy writing on this game is on the Evil ending.

The Dungeon monster encounter rate is VERY Annoying! I just finished the other monster and five-ten step after, a wild not so cute Pikachu would appear! And man, ain't the monster at the last dungeon ugly.

There's a secret boss that if We're able to beat him, We'd unlock all of the locked Gallery content, BUTT Oh lord it's disgutingly hard! I didn't prepared for that at all, I had to tweak my party using save editor so I wouldn't get 1 hitted every single godamn time, and my party member still got killed several times, It's a loong fight but It's worth it since I missed the masked (wo)man, and the princess scene.
It takes me around 10hrs to finish my playthrough + The secret boss.

But I'm glad to know they created this before the "Apostle", that means they've improved their writing significantly, which something to be appreciated.
Now I'm off to play their other game.

Kamichichi has made 3 games to date. Harem Fantasy, Apostle, and Island Saga (and I suppose Apostle Rebellion as well, so 4). I've played Apostle before and my main complaint about the game was the slow pacing. It tries to be a game before an h-game. Harem Fantasy was created before Apostle. It was Kamichichi's first game. And it shows.

Story 2/10

Honestly, the story is crap because the writing is crap. The dude straight up starts creeping on breasts and the girls receive it semi-positively. I don't have a problem with that for an h-game but common, it's just not realistic.

Another unrealistic thing is that while a castle's inhabitants were incapacitated, a group of pirates stole all their ships. You need ships. So you go to the pirates. Know what you do once you reach the pirates? You politely request usage of their ships. What the heck? Kill them. Take the ships back. You don't ask robbers permission to use their robbed goods.

Otherwise, you guys are the self-proclaimed "crystal warriors". Very cringe.

You're trying to save the world as the crystals start blowing up. The bad guys are... questionable. They want to rule the world, so they blow up the crystals keeping the world stable?

If this seems like it's all over the place, it is. The story's all over the place.

Gameplay 2/10

Again, the biggest problem with Kamichichi is that it tries to be a game first before trying to be an h-game. What this practically means is that the game takes way too long to play for very little h-content.

There's a large system of jobs and levels and interaction between the jobs and experience... basically you need to GRIND. And you're grinding in an h-game? Strategizing to fight mobs and bosses? Common. We're here for one reason and one reason only.

This game takes great inspiration from games like old-school final fantasy games. If you're into that kinda stuff, so be it. But this is not my cup of tea.

Not a great h-game. At the end of the day, I ask myself: Did I have fun? And the answer this time is "no". I did not.

I'd like propose a metric. Let's call it h-density. Straight-forwardly it'd be, time of h-events divided by time to game completion which would give you a percentage. For example, Harem Fantasy has around 30 minutes of h-content and it took about 10 hours to complete. This would give it an h-density of 5%.

Common. Harem Fantasy has an h-density of 5%.

Having enjoyed another game by this developer, I was rather enthusiastic about trying this game out. After giving it a try for a couple hours, I'm sorry to say that I have no interest playing this game to the end.

Gameplay: 2 Stars
First off, I want to acknowledge that the game is a parody of the earlier Final Fantasy games and tries to capture its classic feel through a job system and Active Time Battles (ATB). My gripe with this is that the job system doesn't become relevant until you clear your first dungeon, which was about 40 minutes in. Without it, you're only capable of using the basic attack. Enemies in the first dungeon took about 3 hits to down and they often dodged your attacks, making the battles feel excessively slow.
Fortunately, your damage output picks up a bit after you start picking classes, but by that point, I felt like a lot of my time had been wasted.
The maps are atrocious and exploration feels punishing. Most of the maps are unnecessarily large and full of pointless details that either can't be interacted with or lead to a dead end. Some of the objects you can interact with can straight up poison you. Encounter rates are annoyingly high. Random map details are passable in some instances and impassible in others. Dead ends appear frequently and give an item only about half the time, and it's usually of very low value. It seriously feels like the developers tried to make exploration as tedious and unenjoyable as possible.
Honestly, the only thing stopping me from giving this game 1 star is the class system. Despite its grindy nature, it does feel like its doing something to break the monotony. And the game is very monotonous.

Characters/Story: 1 Star
Honestly, the story isn't worth reading. It's just generic and uninspiring. Even the sex scenes aren't worth watching. The characters basically all have the same voice. Everything is big titty this, big titty that. Even the women can't seem to talk about anything but tits. The dialogue is painfully simple and/or repetitive. When it's not "wow I can't wait to stick my dick in you," it's "halt, evildoer! I shall protect all women!" and "I'm the chosen one, look at my shiny rocks!" Oh, and everyone and their grandma knows the prophecy apparently, but no one bothers explaining it to the MC in the 2 hours I've been playing.
None of the plot makes sense whatsoever. Things just... happen. The MC himself doesn't seem like he has a reason to go on his quest other than then fact that a telepathic and sentient crystal told him to do so. The first party member you pick up literally was only supposed to take you to the next town and head back home, but stuck with you on a dangerous journey for who knows why. The game literally says something along the lines of "I don't know why, but I feel safe with him. Do you feel safe too? Because I feel safe too, that's why I'm asking." to justify why you have a mini harem of followers.
If you think I'm joking, play the game for the first 20 minutes. Get to the abandoned castle and walk up to the entrance. Let the elf introduce herself.

Art: 3 Stars
The art is alright, but like the rest of the game, it's a bit bland. Their faces all have the same basic shape and a lot of the CG looks like it's using the same poses, but from different angles. About half of it is just the boobs being smushed together or being yanked. Maybe my tastes are just too unrefined, but a lot of it looks like the same shit to me.

Overall, I feel like the developers didn't give this game enough love. It feels less like a game and more of a glorified CG set. There's very little engagement with the player and there's very little resembling a story. You might be able to squeeze some value out of it if you're a boob fanatic, but if you're looking for variety and characterization, you're better off playing a different game.

Art:
For the most part, the art is alright. However, its one of those scenarios where I can admire the time and attention to detail but I rarely get anything from it especially with Rena and Monica (I swear Rena needs some sleep as she looks extremely tired). I also think that some of the scenes drag on a tad bit and it doesn't feel like the writing is strong enough to carry a scene for as long as it does I usually stop caring near the end killing the mood. I f you're playing for the porn aspect then I recommend patience especially if you're the type who wants their H-scenes to get to the point.

Gameplay:
As a game, I really enjoyed myself. I have a soft spot for the job system when done correctly. As you progress, through the main story you gain access to different jobs with some being upgrades to your previous job (largely referring to magic users). However, the game has one major flaw that ruins it for me and that is the encounters especially midway through the game. At the starting point, they feel manageable. Then you begin to realize that you are encountering something for what feels like every few steps you take. While I enjoy the combat, there is such thing as too much of a good thing which is why I picked up and put down this game for months on end as the encounter rates are obnoxious. Then you go to the snow continent more specifically near the temple and the enemies you encounter start throwing every status move in the book from stunning half of your party to literally throw all the status that the game has onto your party members. Some would say run but more often than not I can't run away from most of these encounters without one of my teammates taking a bullet. What made it worse for me was that after dealing with the encounters of a dungeon alone the bosses were usually pathetically easy usually leaving me confused and a little miffed. The game can also be a tad too much obtuse in certain situations like where you have to interact with a wall that looks like the rest just to progress or the Fragments of Desire which only works if you trigger an event that you wouldn't even know much about if you aren't giving the game the utmost attention I didn't even know about the trigger if it weren't for digging into this game's forum (thanks F95 guys). The most egregious had to be where the password for a machine was the year the game was created with the hint being "what year was I made" (yeah the translator left a note that revealed a hint but the fact that the translator had to leave the note says more about the game's telegraphing).

Story:
when it comes to porn games, I am not usually looking for something amazing when it comes to story. However, I was surprised by what the game gave me. While I will be the first to admit that this story is nothing special, I do love having multiple choices in a game as it adds a replayability factor that most porn games lack. While I would call the story a generic amnesia story, the fact that the game gives me a good or evil choice which actually affects my ending really turned me in for a loop. this raises the story slightly above average in that regard.

Conclusion:
I find this game at best average as its major flaw being the high encounter rate and like how it can be obtuse at the worse of times. If I could I would give the game 4 1/2 stars since when the game does something right it occasionally makes up for the times when it doesn't stick the landing. However, I do recommend this game to those who are more patient than I and to breast enthusiasts (especially those who are into breast milk like I am). If you aren't the patient type or want something better then while I can't outright cross-promote just know that there are other porn games that have a better job system and do some of the game's ideas better. Despite the replayability, I still don't see myself playing this game again.

Early game made by kamichichi, the one who also made Apostle, In this game You're playing as a super pervert male character and choose out of 3 girls to spend time with.
You can choose to be Bad or Good in events.
The girls outfits can be changed in the class selection.
The H-scenes only occurs in events. Rape and stuff can occur when you're failed at some events.
This Final Fantasy 18+ game alike, story is amazing.

Having made Final Fantasy VI several times, I immediately recognized the different environments. Harem Fantasy seems to me to target more particularly this opus and as I played without the sound I had in mind the different melodies of FFVI. Because we must admit that if all the winks are nice, the music does not really follow. The set up universe is not so bad but the characters are unfortunately not very deep. I would have preferred heroines with less breasts but it must be a whim of the developer. I had quite a good time doing this RPG. The job system obviously does not invoke anything but remains very pleasant. The fights are well calibrated except at the end where I had to cheat a little. I also cheated also in the scenario because at one point I irremediably entered the road of one of the three heroines, which then prevented me from targeting the final harem. In the end, a game that I highly recommend to fans of Final Fantasy VI. You will recognize many elements in this vast universe which pays a nice tribute to the original title despite the limited means of RPGMaker.

I've played a lot of RPGM games. Most of them are a "meh" at most, nothing has made me so attached to the characters. It's been over two months since I completed this game, yes I didn't get every scene, yes I didn't beat the secret boss (fucker is at level 90 at your only need to be level 50 to beat the game, maybe even less). Despite so long of not touching this game, this game still holds a special place in my soul, it's character writing is outstanding, it's comparable to classic Final Fantasy games. I stopped after getting the all 3 girls ending cuz it gave me feeling of "yeah, I'm happy with this story" and I didn't want to play the evil route (Also each playthrough was about 10 hours long, so I'm not in a rush in to play another route). All in all, this game is easily one of, if not, the best game I've ever played on this site. Some won't agree but goddamn this presses all the correct buttons. It's not so packed with porn that it's not a game anymore and it's not so packed with gameplay that there's no downtime for some good old hentai. I can go on forever about how good this game is, but if you're a fan of old Final Fantasy, this is a must have.

Overall: It was very exciting to play with some flaws. For example the encounters are very high but at the same time it is necessary to level up and get stronger. It was hard to keep playing kinda after a good amount of time. Also it felt at the later game repetitiv, idk if it was the story or the battles or maybe both.

I will look forward for more from the author and a big thanks to the translator.

This a great game, with great art, and sexy lovable girls. You will enjoy if you love big tits. Walk-through recommended to get all scenes and endings and for cheats if you don't care for the game play.

It's a grindy RPGmaker game with a lot of stock assets and very sparse hentai content. Overland map is way too big. My saved game was overwritten because I used the last save slot which lost me 2-3 hours. Don't think I'll continue playing. The game needs at least twice as much hentai than what it currently has to be worth the time investment. You can't even have sex with two of the girls on the cover! Evil route felt really unsatisfying to play compared to the good route.

I like the fact that this had Chrono Trigger like combat as an option. The only problem is that I had to turn it off half way through the game because I would get blitzed by the enemies while I was still picking a command, but if you ignore that, I'd say that the gameplay is pretty good and Final Fantasy like.

I usually don't like ridiculously over sized boobs, but this game was an exception for some reason. I'm not good at describing sex scenes at all, so I'm just gonna say that it's good. The girls can kind be of cliched, but almost everything is nowadays. Usually I don't feel anything for characters in movies at all, but perhaps I got more sensitive or something as I actually felt affection for the characters (as far as normal people would feel for characters in movies anyways).

The story is yet again very Final Fantasy like except you can choose to be good or evil I guess. The story is pretty simple, but It's like old Final Fantasy simple, so I like it.

Overall, I felt like I was actually playing Final Fantasy, so I'm going to rate this 5 stars.

The Game is great for those who enjoy big bust games this is the right game.

The art of the game is very good and very well crafted. The creation of the maps are well-thought-out and well elaborated.

Gameplay is simple and the difficulty is difficult at first, but once you have evolved some levels you become the one punch man.
