For Renpy games, can I delete old version after updating?

One great thing about updating Renpy games is that, provided an older version is in the same directory, the new version always seems to have imported my preferences and saves from the old version. But I don't quite know how this works and am afraid to delete the old versions. So ...

Could someone kindly let me know if the data is copied across or if it is just accessing the data from the old version.

In other words, is it safe to delete previous versions?

Many thanks in advance for any advice.

Yes, you can safely delete it. A backup copy of all your saves is stored in:
- Windows: %APPDATA\RenPy
- Macintosh: $HOME/Library/RenPy/
- Linux: $HOME/.renpy/
%APPDATA is a special directory where your settings are usually saved. Just google it. It may be hidden.

Ren'Py keeps all your saves in a seperate folder. These will be copied over if you decide to play a newer/older version of the selected game. if you want to learn more about it.
