Looking at the game from the perspective of the adult genre, despite the decent artwork and a relatively large number of scenes, the scenes themselves are very short, and between them, there is a long and highly concentrated gameplay that takes all the player's attention. This makes elements like nude NPCs less satisfying as fan service. In the end, you get 10 minutes of gameplay (or 20 if you play without guides or if you're a bit slow like me), followed by 10 seconds of a scene.

One might assume that if the gameplay takes all the spotlight, then maybe the game isn't bad as a... game? But here, too, there are problems. In short, the game is a 2D platformer with Metroidvania elements. We have multiple locations/rooms. In each of them, there are hostile NPCs and some spatial puzzles leading to transitions to other locations/rooms. Sometimes paths in locations are blocked by obstacles that can be overcome by obtaining a tool through the main plot, motivating the player to return to previously cleared parts of the map.
What problems does the game have: level design and enemy design suggest a fast pace of progression, but starting from the middle of the game, the main character lacks the toolkit to keep the pace consistently high. Using magic requires holding a button and pressing the attack button after the animation appears, which will be impossible in high-intensity combat, as the character won't attack in such a case. Moreover, the magic holding button may simply not work if pressed after another movement to prepare the ability in advance. Melee attack has only one combination and strictly forward, making it impossible to attack someone slightly above or below the hitbox, not to mention flying enemies. Furthermore, performing a combination moves the character forward, making the combination unusable in narrow spaces, especially noticeable when fighting bosses. The ranged attack does not change throughout the game and is simply firing projectiles forward. The character takes damage from touching the enemy frame, even if it does not attack, which sometimes leads to issues with hitboxes. Some "spatial puzzle" levels are quite often populated with such enemy placements that force you to clear enemies before moving around the map.
All of the above gains more weight considering that some locations will have to be overcome dozens of times, and enemies respawn when entering a room anew.
In the end: As the story progresses, the locations become more challenging, and the main character gains new tools for navigating the area, but their combat abilities remain the same as they were at the very beginning.

I didn't mention the main feature of the game: the protagonist can change gender with the press of a button. However, gameplay-wise, it doesn't have a significant impact. Non-hostile NPCs simply dismiss dialogue with the 'wrong' gender, making one branch of the dialogue always a dead end. In battles, it doesn't affect anything, and the changes in activity platforms or moving platforms, in my personal opinion, don't look particularly impressive.

In conclusion: Nice art design of the game, adult content looks good, but with such a strong emphasis on gameplay, the adult content could be completely removed from the game, and little would change. As a Metroidvania, the game quickly becomes routine and does not bring pleasure from the gameplay.

Personal comment: I would forgive the game a lot if they added many more close combat attacks allowing attacks from more angles relative to the character, not just forward. This is especially relevant against flying enemies that ignore obstacles moving strictly towards the character from somewhere above.

I think people are overhyping this game way too much. It's definitely a decent little title and hey kudos to actually releasing a fully functional complete game, a rock-bottom test 90% of pron games fail so maybe that's why everyone's slapping a 5 on it.

As a game, it doesn't really do anything interesting or new or especially well, and if not for being a pron game, it'd be immediately buried and forgotten among a ton of other better side scrollers.

However, as an ero game, it is definitely among the better ones. I seem to not be as amused by the gender flip mechanic as much as others, as while I really enjoy it there really isn't any mechanical complexity to it and I just feel as they left meteoric potential on there in terms of gameplay.

Pron-wise, it's pixel pron with some really well-done scenes. Pretty vanillia and not that bountiful, but what's there is good enough.

My standards aren't so low as to call this one of the best, but it's definitely a good first showing for the studio and I would like to see more (longer) games from them.

I debated over giving it four stars, but ultimately decided against it as its sexual content is the weaker side and that's kind of the main point of these games.

As it stands, I'd call Flipwitch more of a mediocre sidescroller/metrovania with decent enough erotic content to make it worthwhile, but then again, I'm not someone whose only experience with indie side scrollers are janky pron games so eh.

this is an excellent side-scroller platform game. it has great power ups, transformations and memorable bosses that makes this game all a must of side-scroller games. furthermore, it has a great mechanic changin the sex of the protagonist. Highly reccomendable.

People are giving it a low score as if the game were developed by Ubisoft or Rockstar. For a game from a small team, probably made by three people, and considering the hgame genre, it is undoubtedly the best game released so far for those seeking a balance of art, gameplay, and erotic scenes.

This is more of a game than a H game. The Art is amazing, and the combat relatively nice. You might feel the controls to be a bit sluggish since it takes a second to register a dash and you might end up going the wrong way, but that's fine.

The H content, while good, is super sparse for the art they had at hand.

Play it for an echhi momodora experience (Much much easier than it though), and not for the H.

very hard to find a horny game that also has fun gameplay, and this is one of them. at this point the sex is just an addon to a great game. i like the artstyle, the animation is great, there's not much to complain about.

SHORT AND SWEET

Very fun game that is easy to pick up but hard to master, giving it lots of replayability if you want to do things like speedrun or do no hit runs of bosses and the like. Very tight controls allows for lots of freedom in how you maneuver around especially the more upgrades you receive. The H-Scenes leave a little to be desired and the way the game fails to convey certain things can be a little frustrating. Regardless, the game is very solid and I would absolutely recommend buying it to support the devs!

ACTUAL REVIEW

Came for the porn and continue to replay for the gameplay!

This game, while not perfect, has a lot going for it. Good music, nice animations, smooth and tight controls, and a easy to learn but difficult to master learning curve that can make replaying this game over and over again really fun. As an avid fan of metroidvania games I can confidently say this one sits nicely alongside many others. It's not the most standout title but it is definitely a very enjoyable one. There are some issues with properly conveying what to do to the player which can make for frustrating times but I can see the devs are patching these things out as time progresses and relatively quickly as well.

AS A PORN GAME?

I like it enough. I'm a girl so idk if I just don't desire penetration scenes as deeply as the target audience might have, but I much prefer what we got as opposed to lots of penetrative sex. I will say that I'm disappointed there are no boss scenes as well. I like the defeat scenes and I like the stuff we get from completing side quests a lot though. Kinda wish they were voiced as well but I know that's asking for a lot.

• A game this good should follow Castle in The Clouds footsteps and have an SFW version as well just saying.

All in all I had a fun time with it both as a game and as an H-game. Is it the best metroidvania out there? No. I'd argue Castle in the Clouds DX was leagues better but not many metroidvanias are this fun to play over and over again and for that it FlipWitch has a high approval from me!

For being MomoGames' first game this is extremely good.
As for the game itself it is what you would expect from an indie NSFW metroidvania. It has it's shortcoming but it is a good experience most of the time.
The good:

• The art style is very pleasant to the eye with bright vibrant color that combine, complement and contrast well with one another.
• The gameplay at it's most basic level (jumping, running, melee and range attacks) never stops being intuitive and competent.
• The story is not too mindless or complicated. It is as simple and funny as it needs to be.
• The level design is average or better than your regular indie metroidvania games. It's never really a problem.
• The music is pretty good. No complaints there.
• The NSFW animations are good and there is plenty of them. They are pretty vanilla for the most part and the most extreme ones are four scenes with furry characters.

The bad:

• (May be because my PC was too weak but) In some stages the frames dropped hard. This brought other problems like the first melee attack not having a hitbox, getting stuck at the second melee attack or double jumping being more difficult than the game itself (this mainly hapened in the ghost, fungus, and slime stages).
• Many of the abilities you get that allow you to open new stages don't matter for anything else besides that (with the exception of the ones that let you jump higher or further). Sometimes it feels like they just put random obstacles in a room to force you to use them.
• The NSFW part of the game feels incompleted. There's no scenes with the bosses or mini bosses (except one), no gay scenes (since there's lesbian and het scenes), one defeat scene is missing (there's no rat defeat animation for the guy)(fixed in version 1.4) and the gallery only includes the quests animations (missing the gacha ones and the defeat ones). (fixed in version 1.5)
• The enemy variety get's really small towards the end. The second last stage only has 3 types of normal enemies and the last stage only has 2 (and its only 1 of each in the entire stage, only 2 new enemies used only once). Also there's no quest in the final stage.
• You don't get anything special from Sensei for completing all the quests. In fact she keeps giving you the usual message like they forgot to change it after all was done. (fixed in version 1.5 you still dont get anything new though)

The ugly:

• The way the game prolongs its longevity is by making getting 500/1000 gold to buy outfits. Can get tiresome at times.
• At the time I'm posting this, there's a bug with the summoning stones that makes it impossible to complete. And the mushroom boss can be cheesed by accident. (fixed in version 1.4)
• Most quests are very samey with a few exception. Not really a problem but you lose the excitement of doing new quests outside of the porn reward. (a couple make you fight mini bosses so those are cool)

TLDR: The bugs will get fixed so those can be ignore.
It is a good metroidvania game but it's not groundbreaking.
If you like vanilla the sex scenes there are will turn you on but most likely not get you to climax. And the ones that aren't there will let you wondering why they aren't there.

I quite enjoyed this game, I think the gameplay itself is very fun...

It's true that this isn't the best game to jerk off to, but I like games with a sexy "theme" that aren't necessarily just there as semi-interactive porn. I guess it depends what you want to get out of a game, but for me personally I think these style of games are very pleasant and something that I'll play even when I'm not trying to crank one out.

Excellent Art. Gameplay. Progression.

Has a bit of a bug-problem but compared to most H-games its pretty great.
The movement feels relatively smooth, exploration is pretty organic and it's not really something for people who get frustrated quickly due to loss of progress when dying. People who are into metroidvania-type games and pixel-art hentai will probably like this game a lot... that is after some of the more annoying bugs have been fixed like textboxes not appearing anymore for some reason, softlocking yourself because a miniboss in the fungal area only spawns upon entering the area the second time or being unable to complete a quest since the second summoning stone didn't spawn.

Really waiting for the bugfix for the second summoning stone.
Still gets a 5 star for me since it's still better than 95% of the games on here and I have faith that the devs will fix the bugs mentioned rather quickly.

The porn isn't as hardcore as other games, but it's really well integrated into the gameplay.

I really wanted to like this game, and between the soundtrack, the artstyle and overall game lenght for a hentai game and very good variety of costumes, there are some things to like.
Sadly the game is mediocre at best as a platformer and shit as a porn game.

On the platforming side it feels like some bootleg Shantae game, bogged down by jank jumping, special items with controls so awful you will never actually use them and the genderswapping mechanic only ever ammounting to turning some platforms on and off. Additionally the enemies deal way too much damage and bosses have too much HP, but this is partially mitigated by the included "easy mode" version. The in-game map is also quite bad, lacking any pointers towards for quests and npcs, this becomes a problem as the maps in the 2nd half of the game can get quite big

On the porn side expect 5-frame animations consisting of mostly teasing and blowjobs. I guess sex in a hentai game is too much to ask from the developers. The genderswapping mechanic feels tacked on again and the way to get sex scenes is mainly through fetch quests, a lot of which will involve re-entering the same room full of enemies just to grind coins to buy an outfit needed for the quest. Had it not been for quests being necessary to increase your healing item uses and attack power, I would have suggested to skip them entirely because the porn really isn't worth it

Overall an incredibly disappointing, boring, but not terrible experience

If you want to play a nice game - that's it. A nice game, pleasant graphics, smooth and nice animations, and a lot of pixel artwork/assets.

Though controls could be a bit better.
- you can't dodge mid-air
- controls feel a bit slow in general
- inventory navigation is a bit awkward (like you can press left to the rightmost item of the section, but the other way it's not working?)
- in the gallery if you press down a few times, then up, the CG selection jumps a bit, messing up row order and making me lost for a second

What could they do better with controls?
They could use arrows in addition to WASD, they could allow you to interact with menu/inventory/map using mouse since you already use LMB/RMB for fighting moves, but none of that is in game (yet?).

As a porn game that I've been waiting for a while - it fails miserably.
- It's too much of a game and too little of a porn.
- CGs are nice, smooth, well animated pixel arts, but they're all vanilla and teasing. And by vanilla I mean really vanilla. Blowjobs, nude jumping girls showing boobs, handjobs, buttjob? and really a few animations of actual penetration sex. Oh, and one animation of a dick shaped key fucking a keyhole of a literal chest. Ouch.
- Flipping element just allows moving some platforms and opening some rooms. In terms of CGs it just divides CGs on male/female, for example with the robot girl in the city you can get fucked by a dildo-hand as female, blowjob as male. Again, pretty vanilla.
- Most of the porn is just a reward for quests like "go here, bring that, go back, report, take a look at my boobs"

I feel like there was so much potential here, but they just slapped some vanilla porn on a game on top of some flip platforming mechanics.

Made the mistake of trying this out at 3am... when I finished playing, it was 2pm. Despite my score, this game is not perfect, but damn if it isn't fun to play. It's also refreshing, that for once, a lewd game is an actual GAME, with thought out mechanics.

The controls a little floaty, but not enough to really ruin the platforming experience, although once you get the gliding ability, even that becomes a cakewalk. The game itself isn't too hard. Bosses have certain things you have to do, usually broken up into 2 Phases. Once you figure out what to do with them, it's usually a breeze. The real star here, is the Metroidvania-styled secret hunts, and absolutely beautiful spritework, which includes naughty scenes, that are rewarded for finishing quests.

Each character has a quest, which usually requires you to find and wear a specific Costume for them, or find an item. The reward is a sexual scene. Some of these people has a 3-part questline, which progressively more lewd scenes, usually ending in penetration. This is probably why so many other reviews claim the game is lacking, because this stuff is near the end of the game.

That said, there are a ton of good handjob and boobjob scenes, that I didn't think I'd be into, but was. In particular, there's one where a goth girl jerks you off, using a slime as an onahole while she shakes her pierced tiddies in your face, as her nude friend sits in front of you with her tongue out. I dare you to tell me that's not hot.

I only had two issues, a couple of glitches. One where an item I needed to finish a quest didn't appear in a Boss Room, and another where the Boss spawned AFTER I collected the item they would have given, but with me outside the battle arena, leaving me free to spam ranged attacks on them without getting hurt. The developer is aware of these issues and is working on them. If your not aware, if you get lost in a game like this, you can always check Steam's Community for the game without owning it, where people have likely answered all your questions about the game.

Overall, it's just a solid, fun sexy game. Definitely not Hollow Knight levels of skill or depth, but definitely a good time, and the price on Steam seems well worth it, considering I got like 6+ hours of out it, and I'm still not done. If I could have hidden ownership of the game from family, I definitely would have bought it for real. You could do worse, and if you've lurked around these forums enough, you know how bad other erotic games can be.

Edit: thought of this after posting, but the game almost exactly plays like the Shantae series, except without all that cockteasing.

Great platformer. Has all the core aspects. Large map with themed zones. Backtracking when you get new abilities. Lots of hidden things to find to reward exploration. Simple but fun combat, not too hard to dodge everything and hp regen is everywhere, but hp is low so a few mistakes and it's over. The bosses are engaging but not too hard.

H-scene wise there is a good variety of stuff, all vanilla. There are 2 animated death CG perzone, one for each gender. There are about 40 animated CG to unlock from quests. The animations are great and the voicing is excellent. Every npc has some voincing and the bosses have lots of lines.

Overall solid and entertaining metroidvania that has great amount of content, both gameplay-wise and sex-wise, and seems to have decent developer support. Some issues with controls, grind, sexual content, and balancing, but the overall package is good and has the chance to sort out any issues with post-release support from the devs.
Cons
1. Controls aren't the best. Movement is a bit sluggish and floaty which is problematic when you have to dodge things, and attacks slowly advance your character which can make you take damage unintentionally. These floaty controls can also cause a headache on some of the platforming segments, especially before you unlock better movement tools. Casting spells is also a very clunky input where you hold your ranged attack button first and then click your melee attack button, which takes forever to make it come out and makes offensive spells feel terrible and even pointless to use over just spamming small ranged attacks.
2. Balancing is all over the place. Enemy variety is pretty standard, with ranged and close-range attackers, but later in the game enemies will quite literally kill you in 2-3 hits. On the flip side, your ranged attacks are blatantly rather terrible until a little past halfway into the game, and eventually your melee attacks will also start killing enemies in at minimum two hits. Hit or miss, depending on what you find challenging or annoying.
3. Sexual content might not be what you're hoping for. A lot of scenes are non-penetrative in nature and that might disappoint you. And while not an issue for me personally, there is no male/male content even though the protagonist can have sex with both sexes in her female form, and will only have sex with woman when she switches to male, so this can also be a sore spot. There are also no sex scenes for losing to a boss, which can be a letdown.
4. Grindy. This doesn't bother me so much because going in and out of a room with brutes is an easy source of gold, but a good deal of sidequests are locked behind purchasing a costume with looted gold from enemies, and this can slow you down both from getting upgrades and seeing the H-content. However, this is an issue that appears to be getting fixed by the developers, so this may no longer be as big of a problem later.
Pros
1. Map is genuinely quite big. There's different areas all with a good amount of individual rooms with their own enemies and potentially treasures, and traversing the map is pretty fun.
2. Genderbend mechanic is engaging. Platforming challenges often require you to quickly swap between your female and male forms, and even some boss mechanics will ask you to make quick switches, in a way that brings to mind Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth. There aren't specific differences between either form besides what costumes you can wear and what sidequests can advance, which is a slight letdown if you wanted a system like Portrait of Ruin.
3. Sidequests and sexual content. There are plenty of sidequests to do from an array of NPCs which give you plenty to do on top of exploring the maps and fighting bosses, and you get substantial rewards both by slowly unlocking more healing and damage, and also giving you well-animated pixel sex scenes with whichever character you've helped out. Sidequest objectives are generally just simplistic fetch quests, but it's still something of worth with a good payoff. Sexual content also has a lot of variety with being able to have sex with nearly every NPC, with different sexual acts, playable gender, and possibly costumes for each one, as well as defeat scenes, where enemies will have sex with the protagonist if you run out of health anywhere. There should be something for everyone, as long as you aren't looking for male/male sex.
4. Developer response seems good so far. While the game has seen multiple delays and the developers apparently have a reputation for not delivering on things that are promised, they seem to make a good impression post-release, quickly hashing out large bugs and balancing issues, taking into account some player feedback like adding defeat sex scenes to the gallery in a future patch, and promising future updates, support, and free DLC. Time will tell if they mean it, but at the moment it may not hurt to be optimistic.

bugs with using skills “hold down the left button” - but it doesn’t work, attack and that’s it. how to get through the thorns? but no way! If you can still do without bombs, then you can’t do without a ghost at all.

Nice art, good controls, unique idea with the sex switch, the animations are good. That's every good thing on the game.

Same problem as always, the gameplay and the porn do not mix together. There's only 1 animation on defeat for the 2 characters, no matter where you are or the enemy that deals the final blow, you will see the same 5 secs animation on loop for the first 2 hours of gameplay. Those are the only scenes you can get, unless you complete quest, wich is nice but not enough. The bosses do not have animations either, even after you win, I suposse the creator dind't think of that.

If you want a decent platformer then play this, but don't expect to get off to it, just play mario or metroid dude.

Summary 4.25/5- Metroidvania game with quite a bit of backtracking. H-content there is some missed opportunity in terms of the H-content.

Gameplay 4.5/5 - In terms of controls and gameplay, it is solid. 2 things to critique are is that bosses do tend to be damage sponges and the map can use a little bit of work. Some doors can be color-coded to indicate that they're locked and a mini-map system can be implemented to make backtracking easier. *Edit - some people have commented that the bomb skill is bugged. I haven't had this problem. Probably an issue with not realizing that the bombs use mana/magic. These can be replenished by hitting opponents or obtaining the blue stars from breakables.

H-content 3.5-4/5- Sadly, this was an incredibly missed opportunity. The H-material are all animated but are mostly from rewards, quests, and collectibles. There are some game-over animations; however, they are very few. Basically, 2 animations per location(s) (1 for each gender). There should be 9 game over animations from each gender:

1. Goblins 2. Ghost/Zombie 3. Demons 4. Harpy/Vines 5. Angel/Statue 6. Fungus/Pigman 7. Slime 8. Mermaid 9. Anubis

Collectibles are basically different female characters in the game using dildos.

Sound and Voice Acting 5/5 - Excellent. No complaints.

Recommended for people who have time and like Metroidvania games. You will be disappointed if you're looking for gameplay-linked h content though. If you're expecting a ROR type of game, look elsewhere.
