Hello all,

First off, thank you for your time and for reading this. I am new to the area of game development, and as someone who has been using the site for the past few years, I figured it was time that I both learn how to make games so I can grab an appreciation for all the hard work you guys do, but also to help explore my creative muscles.

I was wondering if you guys had any Ren'py or DAZ3D Studio tips and tricks that would be important for someone to know. Let me know if you'd like to see what renders I have so far!

Thank you for your time.

Cheers.

Youtube has a lot of tutorial videos on python and Daz. Looking at the code of other people's games you like is a great way to learn Renpy.

This has been my go-to so far for the Ren'Py system. Youtube and the documentation system that they had written up is extremely useful. I also found a tutorial specific to working on visual novel adult games like the ones we read and play on pornhub, of all places, haha.

Daz is a different beast to me though.

I was just hoping for more general things like "Don't do x because of y" etc.

Thank you for your response though.

Here are some really good YouTube channels to start with as a DAZ newbie:
: Very easy to follow tutorials, very likable guy to watch on a tutorial, also videoblogs a lot about new Daz assets, tools and plugins. Does live streams and is very communicative with his followers.

: One of the first Daz tutorials I ever watched on YouTube was from this guy and his channel is just perfect for a complete beginner. Also makes Ren'py tutorials.

Another "Daz standard" every beginner should check out.

Last but not least, if you're sick of only ever watching guys on tutorial videos, here is the perfect woman to the rescue! :-D

Thank you so much for these. I've been binging these for the past two days. It was so helpful.

Appreciate you and your time.

Game Developer Training aside, a lot of them don't focus on VN concepts. Specifically in regard to lighting, which good ones are hard to find as a whole for Daz (there are some decent paid ones.).

If you're looking for more Visual Novel focused stuff, is probably another good one. is another good one. A bit of a self-plug, but I also here and there. Though they're a bit more ranged in topic and are more aimed at intermediate users (those who have a solid grasp on the software itself.) than beginners.

As a programmer I can definitely give you the tip that you should learn the syntax. Do tutorials etc. if you understand the basic framework you will do much easier with everything that comes after. Good luck, let us know once you start your own game!

It's been useful to learn something and then test how I comprehend it by fitting into the VNverse. I am a photographer and video editor, so some stuff I do comes in with some learned skills.

Also, I didn't even clock your name, I've totally seen your main menu video for inspiration. Lots of good work you're doing and have done in those tutorials.

Syntax and code organising has definitely been my weak point so far. So many different junctions have so many different needs that it can be overwhelming. So learning that will be a skill over time hopefully.

I hope to share some dev status come Janurary. It's just that rendering takes ages. I can only do about 10 a day on a good day.
