Anyone have any idea why this game is so performance-intensive for a Ren'Py game? My laptop isn't particularly new or powerful, but it shouldn't be chugging trying to run a visual novel.

Regarding the NSFW content, Kulplant announced this:
I have seen there are some misunderstanding about how and why nsfw for Dragon Island is going to be a "fan game" and what it actually is going to be, think I should explain it here.

The nsfw "fan game" will only contain nsfw alts of horny scenes and pictures, and no other contents.
It will also require steam save of Dragon Island, so it's not really being given out for free.
Bring free is for make sure backers and everyone who got the game don't have to pay again.
It should be out very soon

I'm sorry for the inconvenience, heck, it's also inconvenient for me. It's originally planed it to just be in the game, but situations for some devs have changed so I'm doing it this way to better protect them. It's for the same reason why devs can't post about this on the official accounts, and it's all up to me to post it on my own.

Their other games include NSFW and they're free, I'm not sure why they thought a paid game was where they'd NOT put any nudity to begin with?? So confusing.

yeah but this game is not only made by kulplant and the other people are asian so they can't upload a nsfw version but kulplant will upload it himself to his itchio (there isn't date atm but he says near)

Now I'm confused, Is this project crowd-funded?
The dev (Kulplant) doesn't seem the 'cash grab' sort? But these actions - Rippin' NSFW off of base game, then Charge money for both separately - feels totally like a 'Money Extraction' move?

IIRC, their other game "Notes of Heart" (or something) is also a big flop? (I've no idea the reason tho

And what "protect other devs", "can't post on the official accounts" even mean?
Are they from an Asian country that the government hunts down anyone who creates porn?
But that still doesn't explain, nor excuse what they did.

You mean Not just any porn, But Only Gay specific porn? (Then I get an idea which country they are from ;)
BTW, it's not 'in Asia' as a whole, Japanese gay porn games are very advanced and well known across the globe. There's also South Korea and some other places.

BUT, That's totally understandable and reasonable what they did.
Why there are so much outrages and hates on this one? Is it cuz the game itself is bad?
Especially consider there are many games do 'tear NSFW away from the base, and sell them separately'.
