Would you play a game, where you share your harem with a trusted friend (either just him and the girls or being part of a threesome, foursome, etc...) or where you share you family with a son, father, brother, etc.
I care almost exclusively about the corruption of the female characters. So a dynamic where MC passes his hos around is fine, and can be part of their submission and corruption.
Pitching a Charles Manson life sim? Pretty sure that harem games are a minority of games, even in male MC games, so I wonder what you search for...
Anyway, I believe the wish for sharing harems is pretty niche with harem fans, tho there must be some. Even intra-harem sharing gets a lot of fire these days. You sometimes see people wish for this kind of stuff, but I think these are mostly fans of sharing or whatever other kinks who sometimes dip into the harem genre or check the genre busters. Not a harem fan myself tho.
I think it can work but allow the player to turn it off completely in the preferences since most will not like it. Even if the player is interested I'd generally suggest allowing the player to say no to individual characters. Maybe the player really likes girl X so much they don't want to share her but are open to other characters they don't really care about. Or guy X is so grating to the player they want to bash their head in, not share the girl with them.

What I enjoy the most about VNs is that they mix action with sexual relationships in a fairly straightforward manner. I want the format which simplifies the sexual relationships between MC and the relevant characters.
Sex scenes and relationship dynamics should be relevant to MC, unless they are used for story/setting development purposes, but these should be very limited. They also should not be the main focus of the story.
So for me the perfect VN has
1. A focus on the Hero's journey.
2. Sexual relationships with drama relevant to the story.
3. Relationship dynamics that don't detract too much from the story.
Introducing elements like sharing are fine if let's say theMC shares his girl with some powerful person to gain favor (preferably this being the last option but w/e) is fine. It's part of his journey.
Introducing sharing elements in a more abstract way, or as part of a "slice of life" routine, would be extremely boring and pointless to me.
I wouldn't trust the tag, or its absence, on this one.

The difference is subtle, to the point that I'm not totally sure if it mean that the game need to feature some threesome, or if it just need that you can fuck three girls the same in-game day.
But in the end, the result is that many games should have the harem tag, but don't have it because in the dev mind, there's only one LI (when there's one) and all the other girls are friends with benefit. My reading is that actually those games should be "harem" and, using the planned tags list, would be "open-relationship" in the future.
I guess it appeal more for players who prefer harem games because it mean that they can choose the girls they'll interact with, than for actual harem fans. The last ones tend to hate any dick that aren't MC's one.

Well, if a dev's considering to make a game, it's a good idea to make stuff that the dev likes. It's something that motivates them and it's hard to replace that drive with something else. It's probably wise to mention it as a tag or future tag from the start though.
What GNVE said about making it optional will work for some people who dislike sharing, but I'm sure there's people too who won't play it if it has optional sharing and who ask that it's removed. So a dev needs a clear vision for their game before that all starts.

I guess the question is not too well constructed. It should be "Do you prefer games with male MC and harem OR male MC and sharing with other male".
What I'd like to know is what people would choose from the two. Yes, it's a very different audience, I know that. What I'm interested in is: is the reason there are very few "group sex with multiple males" games, but significantly more (compared to the group sex ones) harem games, that this is what people are interested in.
