Aside from memes, this is... a rough read. If I'm not Daine, then I wish i didn't have to exist in his head and listen to all of his endless bitchin n moanin about seemingly every facet of existence in front of his eyes and behind them. the monologue is pretty strong with this one, and i'm left with the ever familiar and ever fun feeling of "i couldn't be fucked to give a shit".

i tried, i did. but i can't sit through like 400 lines of poe-esque prose about the intricacies of futility in order to get to a scene outside of his head, the morning AFTER the sex. also, the crucifixion scene is just obscene, pornographically so.

I genuinely appreciate the fact that you gave it a go, and even though it left a sour taste in your mouth, I completely understand the distaste for it.

Detached isn't for everyone.

It's a heavy read, and having a sad boi MC is defs a turnoff for people.

I've missed the last few updates, so I'm playing catch-up, but I do want to say one funny thing about the Daine-renamer is that I can't personally use it, not because I'm attached to his name or anything, but because of his dad's name.

There is an extra, personal shade of dissociation for me every time Nathan's name is mentioned, which, for this game in particular, is only a bonus, and I'm here for it.

I just have a question regarding the story and maybe I missed something as I am only to the point of Daine meeting Sam and Jessica in bar ("The Dive") but isn't Sam (at least in his mind) supposed to be his mother? Speaking to which Nathan (his dad) and Sam (his mom) both let him believe that his mom was dead and in addition, abandoned him to Bishop to raise him for how many years and totally fucking up his life and here he is casually drinking beers with her. I find this a little off putting as human nature (after the shock wore off of course) would have him pretty pissed off I would think. I would say angry but that doesn't even come close to what I would be. He just accepts it and calmly talks to them both like they have both in his life all along. I call BULLSHIT. Sorry dev, this obviously is not meant to mimic real life but characters have to have some human basis for the story to be taken in a certain light.

Forgive me if I am jumping the gun and maybe he does get his satifaction later in the story but I would have went off on the both of them in the bunker right from the get go when I saw them both standing in front of me regardless of the reason.

Absolutely fair! I getcha. I completely understand the want for an immersive experience, and that Detached, as describes, is a bad choice for that. People want to be/play the main character.

Just a little note on the story telling though (I'm not trying to convince you to play, I just wanna explain the thought process a bit); despite the player being the 'MC' influencing the MC, the story is narrated entirely by the point of view of Daine (aside from the occasional and rare input by a secondary narrator (me), which is differentiated by italicized text). There are points of story that are told without Daine in the picture for world and story building, though they are not particularly common and fairly brief in their presence. That said, there is one event entirely without him present, and a couple in the making for the next update.

Detached is all about the story, after all, and everything else comes second.

Personally, if I'm not the MC, but rather the entity that occasionally influences the MC, then I don't feel the story is mine, so what happens to the MC is of little relevance to me. In fact, being the character (or entity) that helps another guy to have his own harem is one of the things that I'm not passionate about at all. The story may be very rich, but it is another guy's story.

I'm not a big fan of having to repeatedly go through a bunch of choices untill I find the "correct" one to progress the story. Either way, good luck with the game

Dropped for the same reason can't call this a damn adventure or anything but a cheap ass dating sim with no guide. You just wander around for fucking hours trying to find something new. You can't call that an adventure game as there is no damn story progression to be an adventure game you have to have a guide/hints to follow and the story has to carry on with it. Demon Hearth is a good example of this.

So no thanks to this dropped as another random wander around for hours to progress type of shit sandbox.

Playability: 1/5 (random walk around to progress type of shit so no story because you can't carry a story like this. So basically a fancy dating sim that will have you wasting hours of time as you have no guide on where to go but just go to a bunch of random places in hopes of seeing something new)

Hey hi!

I never said this was an an adventure game, though I suppose you could call it a (rather subjective) fun romp and adventure through trauma and mental health!

There's actually a built in hints guide for Detached, made based on feedback from the community. It's actually mentioned in the game once the pseudo-sandbox opens up.

In the in-game menu, go to:

Events > Main Events

In the Main Events screen, you have bunch of events and hints telling you how/when to launch them. An important note is that Main Events will play automatically on specific days once the requirements are met.

The character events are much the same, except:

Events > Chracter Events > Main/Side Character > (Character) > Events (to the right with a render)

RED/PURPLE are (potential) lewd events.

I do have plans on including overlays on the sandbox part that will show when character events are available on a given day, but I am trash at coding (I am 100% a noob at it) and need to figure out how to do this before I can implement it.

'Widow' will automatically play following Sam's Event 'People Watching'.



Bishop's red event, 'Shards of a Broken Silence', which plays after a series of Main Events shown in the screenshot.

I would like to not that any events that don't have a hint in the appropriate section will play following another through natural progression of the game.
