Yeah. I mentioned it some posts ago, but for N species you're going to have N² breeding pairs, so this sort of game takes a huge amount of assets to make.
The dev could've worked around that, by only animating breeder x critter scenes, but why bother if he's still getting Patreon bucks? And that requires some insight that most people don't really have before starting a project.
It wouldn't we as hard if any developer of this kind of game worked smarter not harder and made different races share body proportions and just reuse animations. Monster Black Market did it like that. All the girls had one of two body shapes and they had different tails, ears and stuff like that. Humans, elves, catgirls and doggirls should be similar enough in shape that you reuse the animation. You could split the different bodies into 2 or 3 different shapes and reuse animations. The male beasts can be sorted into human-shaped, giant or quadruped. Swap heads and stuff to make them different and with every animation you make you have dozens of combinations ready.

Welp, went to do my bi-yearly checkup on this one and I see it's finally dead. Don't know why they focused on turning it into a visual novel with the Human characters while totally ignoring the monstergirl gameplay.

kind of weird most of the game that have potential is abandoned
Monstergirl 'Breeding Sims' are hugely popular genre that attract easy Patreonbux despite nearly every such title eventually getting abandoned. Unfortunately many of these devs (the few honest ones at least) jump on concept thinking it's easy and they'll easily succeed where all the others failed, but don't actually know how to make a good game any more than the last guy. They also vastly, VASTY underestimate how long it takes to make good looking animations, and just how many animations are required in a game with potentially dozens of combinations.

Frankly I'm fine with pixel graphics at this point if someone can just solve gameplay part of the genre.

So far I notice a pattern on porn games: the first is that any big brother game is cursed and it will never see the light of the sun, no matter what other word you attached to it like rework, remake, remilk... XD
the second one is that any breeding game is doomed to be abandoned too...
do you have any idea why this curse? leave your comments and make your bets..

Breeding games fail because devs don't understand just how many possible combinations of breeds will require unique art. Devs don't spend enough time planning and then get snookered by the amount of art they will need to make/buy. It's relatively easy to write code to get two breeds to mate, and once you have that code you can copy it and just replace the breeds. But the artist has to make each instance a unique scene or else the players get grumpy.

If you have 2 breeds you only need 3 scenes (AA, AB, BB). If you have 6 characters it jumps to 21 scenes. A handy illustration:

They Fail, because making the story is hard, for example given how the "pregnancy/impregnation" is a "late game" event, and storries tend to be written with that in mind. For breeding games, that has to begin at the start of the game, and writing such plots is likely somewhat more difficult, as you are now faced with a problem of "where do we go from here". This is also coupled with the fact, that unlike other games, where you progressively unlock better and spicyer scenes, or have to work for it in some way, breeding type games give you that at the very begining. This combined with the many, many MANY possible combinations of scenes/art nececary (as was mentioned by the previous user), i'd say is the reason.

There are 3 main issues with breeding games that if you get one wrong normally you are screwed.

1. Is as mentioned by multiple others that the more species you add the more scenes need to be created between the different combinations. This scales at an insane rate. The best way I have seen this handled is either using 3D models so you are just reusing animations and having it render in real time or using 2D models having a limited number of species to make a manageable number of sprites.

2. How does your game progress? This is a general game design question but specifically with breeding games most have no clear direction. The easy answer usually is just adding in more units or traits but that more so an answer to how the game scales difficulty not how the player progresses.

Normally progression is tied with unlocking new features and/or plot progression. Using this game as an example unlocking the wolf form could have been a feature unlock if it was anything more than ascetic. The story with the different main females could have been a decent version of plot progression, but currently they seem mostly detached from the main gameplay. We also have not been given any actual goal although that seems to be changing with the development of the princesses' story.

3. Ties in with both previous points but still stands out on it's own. What is the use of your units? This is a breeding game the very concept is that you are creating units. Other than selling them and breeding them they do nothing. Last I checked selling orders stopped after a certain point so that is a massive issue on continuing a run. The animations aren't bad but they do become repetitive also limiting that usecase as well.

There are a few paths I can see these unit's being used successfully with these games. The first is the management style route where you just continue selling creatures having specific financial/milestones with a clear goal. The second is that you use units for more than just breeding or selling (automation, side projects, combat are versions I have seen in other games). The Final option off the top of my head is to use them as plot progression pieces which is mostly connected to the previous 2 but can also include having certain traits/species being bred unlocking story events/quests and characters.

This is why you should THINK before doing a game base on breeds making sex. Devs like to "No Mans Sky" their way, to promisse things they didnt even think about before.

It's actually worse: you'll need 2²=4 and 6²=36 scenes respectively. That's because you can't simply reuse AB scenes for BA couples (for example catboy x wolfgirl and wolfman x catgirl are different). And the game in question has special scenes for Ceci and the main character, and they're both bi, so they also count as their own races.

If I were to think on a way to make it viable, I'd probably have only the MC and/or Ceci to have unique scenes. At the start monster x monster would simply have no scene, and then if my resources allow it I'd use paperdolls (non-unique scenes) for them. This way the amount of assets scales linearly with the amount of races, not quadratically.

im gonna be honest, im not much of a fan of most breeding games, because they focus the art too much on the monster pairings, as opposed to the mc+monster girl.

the biggest irony is, they could easily do something like a monster rancher, but with monster girls. add to that some slave maker mechanics and diferent focus, like raising/training monster girls to sell with specific abilities.

you could even do 3 type of stats, sexual, combat, general. sexual is the usual sex training, combat is also the usual normal stats used during combat, and general are stuff like social skills, personality, submission/domination. that kind of thing.

make it so you can unlock more and more stuff as you progress, like a bigger pen to raise more than 1 monster girl at a time, or even, a harem house, to keep your favorites.

Especially since these breeding games usually go the Harvest Moon route of "you're taking over an abandoned/past its prime operation and you're the only one who can bring this farm back", it makes sense to focus on MC.

example: MC has some fertility blessing hence why it's always them, maybe natural monster breeding is rare/dangerous.

* MC has two options when doing the deed: Sex and Mating
* Sex: absorbs the stats of your partner, the more you have sex the closer your stats mirror theirs, this act never causes pregnancy. Multiple partners can add stats but perhaps there's a risk of dropping stats if one is weak in a specific stat.
* Mating: no more stat changes, but now pregnancy is possible.
* After a successful pregnancy MC stat's return to base.
* game rewards include permanent stats to the player or better absorption.

Now the scene requirements are linear, if you're doing both sexes for MC and the monsters it's 4 (MCMxf,MCFxm,MCMxm,MCFxf) if you want to add more scenes you can always make the sex and mating scenes different (oral/anal/outercourse for sex, vaginal for mating)

Those who like exclusively furry X furry are kinda left out but I doubt they're starving for content these days.

that's not a bad idea, you could even do sex as the MC absorbing monster energy, while mating is transfering those energies to the new born monstergirl.

the MC would need a max for each stat, that can be raised either by training, or by having sex with certain races. and each monster would have a certain amount they could transfer to the MC, something like a "monster energy". that is drained when they have sex. but regenerates every few days.

this would give the player some raising strategies, and with a monster board, for selling monstergirls with specific stats. or raising, monster girls, with better quality produce.

you could have diferent special abilities, like for example, one that raise the quality of their produce, but diminish the monster energy regen rate. or another that gives a large boost, but does not produce anything.

there's so much potential, but people keep trying to remake breeding farm, and failing because they dont understand why breeding farm failed.

  1. Hello Old Friends, This is an important announcement regarding the future of “Amity Park” and “Breeding Farm”. The staff of Team Bieno has determined that we are at an impasse regarding the future of game development as they currently sit. Our previous defacto lead developer, GZone hasn’t been sighted or been heard from by any of our staff since February 13th; some of us having un-replied DM’s from even months earlier than that. This has obviously been stressful and confusing for staff members that have produced work for game development and not been compensated or even had contact with the person responsible for such matters. It also goes without saying that this degree of delayed content has been an exceedingly frustrating and tedious process for all of you fans and supporters. This has been the last we’ve wanted to have happen, and we’ll be the first one’s to admit that this team and dev cycle has been absolutely mismanaged. Our goal going forward is to alleviate concerns that the team behind some of your favorite ghost and monster related content will never again produce something worth looking forward to or financially supporting. Before we get into any big news regarding what to expect from us going forward or where you might find that latest behind the scenes post, we want to firmly state this: IF YOU ARE CURRENTLY SUBSCRIBED TO EITHER THE GZONE PATREON OR THE BREEDING FARM PATREON AS OF THIS MOMENT IN TIME… CANCEL YOUR SUBSCRIPTION IMMEDIATELY. The funds provided to either one of those Patreon’s are inaccessible to any current staff member except GZone, who is currently MIA. Your donations at this point are unfortunately being sent to an account we do not have the ability to access, and will as of this moment not contribute to the development of either project. We apologize for this unfortunate news, but we did not know how long GZone’s absence would extend to. Again, please, if nothing else but the sake of your own hard-earned cash, cancel your subscription before the month of March is over.

With that out of the way, we can begin to talk about some key background information that has led us to this point: ● Team Bieno was initially formed as a one-man development team by a one-man dev team, consisting solely of GZone. "Amity Park" was the first game created by GZone, with its initial build debuting some time back in mid-2017. That means Amity Park is nearly 7 years old at this point. ● Sometime in the summer of 2018, a fan by the name of Morah approached GZone over Patreon and suggested that they find somebody to proofread some of Amity Park’s scripts, as GZone’s native language was not English. GZone asked Morah to contribute his own skills as a script consultant, and the first collaborative effort was made. ● After two decently enough produced updates with Morah’s new scripts, Lostraven was asked by Morah to take over as head writer for the now budding team. Epadder was then brought on to contribute and assist with coding and posing. Following that, artists such as Frame, Psymind, and Julioaruka were brought on board to contribute to both Amity Park and the second game created by the team, “Breeding Farm”. ● Breeding Farm was created because GZone said that he wanted to have some more creative variety in his work, and felt that doing a parody game of an existing IP was becoming overly familiar for his liking. At the time, this seemed to be a good idea in order to shake off any creative funk that might have developed over working on the same exact project for almost a year and a half. ● Around the time of Breeding Farm’s first publication in August of 2019, GZone made the decision to create a “studio name” for the games that this particular team was developing. He called it “Team Bieno” as “Bieno” means “Farm” in Esperanto, an auxiliary language familiar to GZone.
  3. [18:33]
We think it’s fair to say that the stretches of time where development on Amity Park can be traced back to the creation of Breeding Farm, and the two games never properly were managed properly enough to coexist together. Where some might have focused on only one game at a time, or have alternating work orders for one game per update, Team Bieno was trying to work on both projects simultaneously. This caused a lot of issues with communication, not having certain aspects of game development ready for other members to take part in, and generally losing some of the momentum Amity Park was developing for itself. Breeding Farm should have in no way been a burdensome distraction, but it might certainly have benefited the team and the fans to have had better resource management and tighter deadlines. That all being said, what can or should happen from here? That’s what the remainder of the staff has already met, discussed, deliberated and tried to narrow down. These are some of the following concessions/agreements made by the team.
    1. The remaining staff of Team Bieno have decided to give GZone a three-month grace period to return any of our messages, starting at his last appearance on Feb. 13th. Therefore, GZone has until May 13th 2024 to reemerge via email, Discord, voice call, or any suitable method to prove he is active and accessible.
    2. In the event that GZone does not return within that given deadline, the remaining staff members will officially take action to begin work on future projects without GZone’s involvement. (The staff has narrowed down one main idea that we feel will best serve the needs of the team and interest at least the majority of Team Bieno’s following, but will not openly disclose that until the deadline has passed.)

  5. [18:33]
    1. If GZone does return at some point before the given deadline, invoices from staff owed for work will be asked to be paid out in full. A lengthy inquiry as to the full reasoning behind his disappearance will likely ensue, as this recent development (as well as prior absences and issues) have soured some of the staff members to a certain degree. Beyond that, changes made to the management of this team will be insisted upon so that this sort of thing involving lost resources cannot happen again. If the bulk of staff are satisfied after our thorough questioning into the disappearance of GZone, it is not out of the realm of possibility that he may be asked to contribute to this team’s future endeavors as well. The staff has unilaterally determined that issues have never stemmed from GZone’s personal conduct, and that beyond recent developments for the majority of the time, he has been a consummate professional and good business partner. Acknowledging that we do not have a complete picture as to why GZone has disappeared is important for us, as we don’t think it’s fair to potentially bastardize his character when we simply do not have all the facts. We’d prefer no speculation as to the nature of his absence as well, as it serves no real purpose.
    2. The remaining staff is transitioning over to a temporary SubscribeStar page in hopes of being able to pick up the pieces of what remains of people’s vested interest in our work. The “new” team will comprise the majority of staff that contributed to Amity Park and Breeding Farm, and will for the moment go by the team name of Stray Dream Games. “Team Bieno” will be dropped as our dev team name.
    3. The page we’ve set up is currently being reviewed for the moment, but when it is publicly available, we will let everyone know to go and follow it for future news and updates.
    4. Team member and writer Lostraven has been appointed as acting leader and head dev of Stray Dram Games.
    5. Any future projects will have to be completely separated from the pre-existing work commissioned/produced by and for GZone.

  6. [18:34]
    1. The current Discord Server related to Amity Park/Breeding Farm will no longer be the main focus for the staff, and work is currently being made to operate and run a new official server under the SDG mantle. Until the SubscribeStar page goes live, the existing Discord will be the best way to hear from staff about news and updates and ask pertinent questions.
    2. We will be making some additional behind the scenes decisions during the interim waiting period to help us prepare for an official “jumping of ship”, as it were. We will let fans know more information as soon as possible, and will be working the best we can to try and satisfy frustrated fans and supporters of both Breeding Farm and Amity Park.
    3. Some of these decisions will feel agonizing after an already extensive waiting period, but the decisions we are making here are done in the best interest for the future of this group and its fans. Without taking these steps to correct an incredibly off course ship, we would most likely never be able to produce another piece of content for the fans.
  7. We hope you can understand the situation we have been put into and how these choices were not made lightly. We will wish for the potential return of GZone and we hope that they simply needed time away to decompress or figure some things out for themselves. Nobody on staff has any ill will towards them as a human being, and we hope they are well, wherever and whatever they may be doing. That being said, we will also be working hard to prove to you all that we are a committed group of talented individuals, that just want to make good adult content for you all. Thank you all, and thank you for reading this extensive announcement. Stay tuned. -Lostraven & SDG

Stay tuned. -Lostraven & SDG
this game is most likely dead along with amity park
It is not dead, because I'm alive.

However, there will be some sharp changes and decisions made to make things work, should the transition to me as lead dev be fully confirmed.

Geez that a hell of an announcement, I hope nothing serious happen to Gzone if they have been MIA for that long.
