Im having trhis same exact issue on PC Windows, I tried:
1. Clean installation of v0.38, then install MP for v0.38. Same error.
2. Clean installation of 0.38 then update to 0.38b, install 0.38 MP. Same error.
3. Clean installation of 0.38 then update to 0.38b, install 0.38 MP and then 0.37 to 0.38b MP. Same error.
When i press the Media Packs button it says its not installed.
The MP checker in the main menu is obsolete since some updates ago, instead it will now show a red bar with a message asking to install the media-pack, here is a img comparing when the MP is installed, and when it is not:
P.S: Here is the latest version, with the hotfix, and the media pack installed:

Edit 1; Ok now it works (or so it seems), but if you go to work the first day the error pops

Downloaded the media pack, put it in the assets, overwrote everything and game still says it's not installed. Is this a bug?

Don't put in the assets. Overwrite. Put in main folder where assets folder is and BTD file.
When doing the Lena task where you choose between Lena and Harold, I took Harold and the cheerleader scene. After completing the mini-game, there was a video that didn't play with the following address...

He wouldn't be prompted to overwrite anything if he misplaced the folder... The media pack is missing files, which is casuing the check to fail.
The file exists. Maybe you skipped the patch of some update? I would recommend you to download the complete media-pack again so it will be up to date. I add the link below
Here is the latest version, updated, with the media-pack installed and working correctly (v0.40):

Remember that after installing the media-pack you have to sleep once or twice, this allows the game to recognize the files and refresh the variables that need to be updated
It didn't exist for me. No I haven't missed an update, but I also have been using the update only patch for the last 20 updates. So maybe there was a file missing in the patch only that was in the full pack. Either way, if I have to download the whole thing again I'll just wait an update or 2. Thanks
Same thing for me "Media-Pack Not installed!", new install downloaded 0.41 for the first time and overwrited the assests folder, but still says no media pack installed.

Same with 0.42 not working did fresh install of all still not working recognizing.
