Animations in Ren'py wont work

Hi, I noticed that animations on games like Thirsty for my Guest don't work.
What I mean by that is when the animation is supposed to start I get a black screen.

What seems to solve it is when I use "Unren".

my default video app is VLC player.

any ideas how to view animations without having to unren?

Check your audio output. I had this same thing occur in the past and found that my speakers were not connected and for some crazy reason that stopped my animations from displaying. Just black screen. Hope that works.
