This is a strange VN; a rape by proxy romance story that attempts to justify its kink (as if it were necessary) through many tedious scenes of hand wringing and lore dumps. This separates it not just from common nukige but also erotica, as the story feels self-conscious from the very start.
The prologue procrastinates however it can before we reach the first sex scene. The writing itself has a nervous energy to it, percussive and terse, while also superfluous and long winded. I found it so tiring to read, *click, one sentence, click, one sentence*, I loaded the raw script in notepad and read along with the dumped CGs. It's not until well into the story that the writing calms down and becomes comfortable with itself, and thus, enjoyable to read. You can tell when this happens because the typos will increase significantly. You will also realise that someone has tricked you into reading an almost-kinetic novel. There is only one crucial choice in this game and it's whether to cuck yourself. It has little effect on anything, as the ending is the same either way. Again, a strange option in a strange story.
I've not played the developer's other game but I knew full well what this story was going to be before I played it, so there was no disappointment there. I don't believe it could have supported the protagonist engaging her captor(s) like assumed, anyway. Other remarks about the story being depressing or dark, I did not find to be true either. Aside from the larger situation at hand and the "misunderstanding" at the start, the protagonist is not ill treated. She even has, as fumbled and minute as it might be, a positive character arc. I also didn't find the art change midway through to be a minus at all. While unfortunate about the original artist, I hope they're okay, the replacement had their own charm. Rok'Thar actually becomes much cuter and more alien-looking in the second style.
Once the story came into its own, I enjoyed it, but I'm not sure who it's meant for. There is not enough traditional conflict to please a romance reader. All the expected story beats are missing. The only threat to them is at the very end, but they are already immensely congruous, so it's very little to surmount, with no tension at all. I also don't think there's enough depravity to please a typical eroge player. Rape and humiliation cease to exist as quickly as they're introduced. Some might find the overall situation titillating, but as the story solely focuses on Natalie, you never get a good grasp on it and it merely blueballs.
