I'm only saying that because this is the recipe for a bad game. I've seen it happen over and over again. It's not that I don't want a game like this. I really do. But I think that you are Gullible if you think the development will go fast and smoothly it the developer won't focus the main aspect of the game.

"hur dur go watch porn" (typical idiotic comment with no real argument). if we are going to star giving each others recommendations of what to do, well you can go fuck yourself
ngl man, you look really dumb here. Just because other games fail doesn't mean this will. PLUS the dev has said this is 1.) a tech demo and 2.) a side project. So may I ask; Why is it that you come here, look at a game description and/or play it then complain about it being something that it doesn't try or want to be? What's so hard about going to look for what you want in other areas instead of hoping something different will become what you want?

I think a recipe for bad games is when the dev is focused on NOT playing to their strengths and their passions. Animating a ton of different sex scenes is something I COULD do, but it would take essentially all of the time I have to work on this project, and then there would be nothing besides those animations to show for. Plus, I've been upfront about the fact that I am not an animator, my strength is working on systems and tools.

From my perspective, sex animations are not and have never been the main aspect of this game. It's an adult game, but my vision is for it deliver a new kind of immersive experience we don't often see with 3D porn games. This means being able to get the player invested in the narratives, which in turn makes the eventual payoff feel much more realistic. I am fully aware that the game might pull more subs if I JUST focused on sex, and made it so you could walk around screwing anyone in any position anytime you want. But I'm not really interested in a game like that, there's tons of games that let you do that. There should be some narrative that comes first, and some different systems for you to play with along the way. It's the sum of all parts that contribute to the end product.

And since at this stage I am still solo developing (and learning), it's crucial for me to invest time researching ways to make my job easier. For instance, I've just completed a new tool for designing and changing the appearance and outfits of NPCs entirely in-editor without having to open a single blueprint or cpp file. The development of this tool took some time. It also involved refactoring the item+inventory code to use different classes and data structures that are compatible with python scripting. The end result is that a tool that makes it much easier for me, a single person, to work on a whole bunch of unique characters without it taking insane amounts of time. In the short-term though, working on tools like that might make the updates seem more sparse, because it's not something that by itself adds new content to the game, but it's no less important for stuff like that to get done if I am to actually see through the vision of the project

Thank you for the thorough explanation. I hope you are right and you succeed. I just have one concern: Since indie teams often have limited resources, maximizing the impact of their work is crucial. This is why I believe a well-designed gameplay loop that builds upon itself (multiplicative content) is a smarter choice compared to simply adding more content (additive content). In a nutshell the gameplay loop should be action > reward; but the reward is missing (source: )

I agree with Brasileirinho. The game is technicaly very good, BUT: You want to make an Immersive 3D Game.

Okay, great.

I'm sure you're a fan of classic videos games. How many "immersive games" are good ? Not so much, and most of them are... Erf. Not efficient ? For example: Ubisoft games, Rockstar Games. How many $$$$$$ ? The link ? Fckng Open Wolrd / Sandboxe.

I can give you more linear or less open world games with a fuckin' immersion: Destiny 2, Elden Ring, Last of Us. And in the "indie games", the old but gold Faster Than Light, Dead Cells, Horde, Day Z.

I see a developper wandering to make an immersive game by the technical / Unreal Engine / Graphic way. AAA ambitions ?

But you forgot what's important in a game: Rewards, Music, Dialogues...

I like the concept of your game, and hosnetly I loved the 2 NSFW scenes you made.

There's few ideas:

1 -> Bicycle was a bad idea. Awfull. Animation, speed, control... You should increase speed ++++ or add a boost. Hosnetly We wouldn't be shocked too see a MC not Bicycling whan riding (is it an english sentence ? x) ). For my Opinion, you could just put the teleport option, wich is very effective.

2 -> Add some NPC, I mean static blue / pink dolls (like in Lust Theory in the background), but without hit boxe. Just visualy. Don't if it's possible, but could add some "life" and immersion. Add then "special" dolls for the futur characters: neighbours hous are too empty.

3 -> Natalie need to be fixed. She's floatting in a Stephen King style when you're talking to here.

4 -> build an effective reward loop.

5 -> Add more funny / absurd sentences. We would be more in the flow.

Honestly GG, you made it yourself, i'm really impressed. I think you could make a great game, between Home Together /and Monolith Bay.

i do think a tinier, more compact city would work best, would lower the load on the PC, make it more efficient to go from places to places. its just a prototype but there is so much distance between the places, i think you could keep the american city aspect while making it compact.

(mfw speaking about walkable city design for a pr0n game)

This is also how I think about it. Not every adult game should only be about hardcore sex. Exhibitionism, teasing, voyeur, BDSM, bondage, waterboarding or even other kind of kinks could be a thing. There are even kinks like cmnf (clothed males, naked females) or cfnm (clothed females, naked man) and many, many and many other kinks, not going to name them all. I'm not a fan of all of them, but that's for each individual different.

To many games focus to much on just hardcore sex and that's it. I planned a novel where a teacher is being blackmailed by one of her students. I do plan a lot of voyeur, teasing, exhibitionism, nudity and blackmail but not in terms of hardcore sex, with maybe also some humor.

I'm also bad at making animations, but it's also just that we have enough of those games and content available on the internet.

Baldur's Gate 3 is one of the best games ever made, it contains a lot of nudity if you want. But it's so disappointed that people doesn't react when you run around butt naked and give comments, or even give comments in what you wear. That would be so funny, especially with different sort of reactions, some funny, some strange, some postive or negative. Okay, it's not ment to be that type of game, but still, I found that sometimes more interesting then just a hardcore scene.

And it's shocking how much people males aswell females like these kind of kinks., then just hardcore sex.

Looking good! How about a Linux build for us nerds? ..or at least a build without DX12 so it runs in Wine?

If you need some animation helps.. lemme know! We can trade services (that sounds naughty :p ).

searching up vkd3d brings up relevant results for running it on linux. If the results were unhelpful just post your wine log.
I tried grabbing the latest vkd3d-proton and running it's setup sh file but I still can't run Afterparty.
DirectX 12 is not supported on your system. Try running without the -dx12 or -d3d12 command line argument.

When I run it in a terminal it says this...
wine AfterpartyGame.exe
012c:fixme:ntdll:NtQuerySystemInformation info_class SYSTEM_PERFORMANCE_INFORMATION
012c:fixme:nls:get_dummy_preferred_ui_language (0x8 0x409 00007FFFFEC7EA84 0000000000000000 00007FFFFEC7EA80) returning a dummy value (current locale)
012c:fixme:nls:get_dummy_preferred_ui_language (0x8 0x409 00007FFFFEC7EA84 00007F107CBC16F0 00007FFFFEC7EA80) returning a dummy value (current locale)
0124:fixme:kernelbase:AppPolicyGetProcessTerminationMethod FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFA, 00007FFFFEC7FEB0

Also.. is there anything I should put in the --symlink when I run the vkd3d-proton setup file? right now I'm just saying
./setup_vkd3d_proton.sh install

wine AfterpartyGame.exe

Also.. is there anything I should put in the --symlink when I run the vkd3d-proton setup file? right now I'm just saying
./setup_vkd3d_proton.sh install
The setup file by default installs to the default wine prefix ie: ~/.wine. Since you seem to be running wine -> exe directly without specifying the WINEPREFIX I'm thinking vkd3d is installed correctly to the default prefix

If you've got an old gpu (I'm assuming since I get the same error), try adding this env variable to your command:
VKD3D_FEATURE_LEVEL=12_1 wine AfterParty.exe

Additional note: I recommend you make a folder and set it as your WINEPREFIX
Eg terminal command: WINEPREFIX=/home/me/Games/AfterPartyPrefix wine AfterParty.exe
This way you don't mix and match prefixes between programs of different types. (like productivity VS gaming)
To install vkd3d onto a prefix use the WINEPREFIX variable before the ./setup install command

EDIT:
complete guide
1. Download winetricks
wget
2. Make it executable
chmod +x winetricks
3. Make a folder for your wine prefix
mkdir ~/HomeworkFolder
4. Use winetricks to install pre-requisites
WINEPREFIX=~/HomeworkFolder ./winetricks -q corefonts dxvk
5. Run game (if it tells you to install visual c++ runtime, install it)
WINEPREFIX=~/HomeworkFolder wine AfterParty.exe

Notes:
- Game doesn't need vkd3d (can be installed with winetricks by adding the vkd3d verb to the command above but game works fine without it)
- Latest wine stable (9.0) is faster than wine-ge 8-26, ymmv
- -q for winetricks is for silent install
- installing vcrun2022 with winetricks crashes the game (?)
