VN Ren'Py A Ring or The Shield [Development Thread]

I am thinking about making a spiritual successor to the Tyrant.

It would be called something like “The Ring or the Shield” and keeping in the same themes of blackmail and NTR but actually fulfilling the promise. This would be a passion project so I could do it solely through AI (because my capabilities with 3d modeling software are negative) but I also want to know if people would be interested in seeing something like this.

The basic premise is that the Main Character accidentally blows the cover of his cop mother while interviewing for a job. His private eye stepfather later explains that stumbling upon them puts his entire family at risk and starts the chain of events that could end up wrecking his entire family. If he wants to keep his family safe he needs to help repair her cover while they continue their investigation.

The player choices would drive two mechanics. An investigation progress mechanic and a cover mechanic. The better the cover the less the player’s mother will have to work to maintain it. The worse the cover the more she will need to choose between her Ring or her Shield. Character’s actions can either hinder or progress the investigation and this progress will determine which ending the characters receive.

I have already mapped out the basic plot points for the entire story with 4 possible endings and a few sub endings based on love interests, however I am weighing the benefits of a sandbox versus a visual novel.

There would be 5 distinct love interests. 2 Younger step sisters. A Girlfriend. The bosses daughter from his workplace and a secret love interest.

With the glut of NTR games I found myself going back to this concept and thinking about all the untapped potential. Though as of right now I have finished the script for the first release.

Edit: Deleted the A.I. art images as they seem to be confusing for people. I would prefer working with a 3d artist familiar with DAZ but that means finding someone interested in this passion project. If you guys have suggestions or would like to fill that role. Feel free to reach out over F95 DM.

This is correct. You will be preventing "most" NTR. No guarantee's as this is still in the brainstorming stage. But the whole point is that the player choices determine the story beats.

hmmm, so 3d would be AI art, but that would be closer to like real porn, than 3d renpy rendered porn...well could make the AI rendered off the 3d renpy models? that should work, think you could find most of them off the fan art page, it should have the character model listing there used for the fan art. Sadly i cant say how i feel about the 2 models posted.

also what tags? honestly felt liket the OG tyrant was seriously held back in terms of content, plans and interactions. is the mom still a love interest or no? for the family dynamic, is it mom married step dad, who had 2 daughters from previous marraige? or is it like an adopted thing? is this a fan funded passion project? or is it like a completely free, updates when ready, no charge passion project?

frankly kinda hoping for a far darker version on tyrant level, like you can play a loving MC, a pervy corrupt blackmailiy MC, or like a pure phsycopathing murdering rapist type MC. would be cool to have a path were the MC can love and help, manipulate and seduce, or just outright betray and force/fearfully subdue.

plust one of my bigest gripes of the OG tyrant was there was no....acknowledgement of the step dads death after he suicided. Would you be putting some kinda scenario like that in here as well? that would be cool, as like a plot twist you can manipulate to kill, or save step father at some point or another. Like a set up for a meet up that the MC can save or destroy depending on alliance or sides he wants to play.

I will be charging nothing for each update, therefore the updates will come out when ready. If I work with a 3d artist then all of the proceeds will be going to them but there will not be an official Patreon for the game. Maybe you subscribe to the artists patreon to get it early but I would retain overall copyright. Though I am thinking of making 10 separate releases with the final release accumulating everything just so I don't run into too many errors coding. I might end up putting it on Steam just because it would be something to talk about.

Regarding content. The Mother is not a love interest in the beginning (maybe not ever). The family will consist of a Step-father, Older step-sister (same age as MC.), Younger step-sister, MC and Mother.

The MC's goal is not to destroy his families life but if the player selects the wrong choices then he fails at this and his family suffers for it. While he is the cause of the suffering, he is not purposefully doing it. For the moment.

The best way to describe its relationship to the Tyrant is not of a remake but more of a game inspired by.

The point is not corruption but NTR. That means that it will lean heavily into the Jealousy and sense of loss aspect when NTR segments occur.

Regarding the stepfather. I am hoping to make him sympathetic more than disgusting. If you still want to kill this guy then I did a terrible job writing him.

Tone wise the NTR path will be darker as the majority of the scenes will be driven by the criminals so they really don't have any compunction. Morals yes. Perverted hell yes. (also why I am not making a patreon for it.)

i suppose ill have to see, but not sure. Tyrant seemed more along the like of full blown incest and corruption, then anything else. its bassically a family who is inducted to a sex cult/sex slave ring? the whole game starts off with parents being included into an gang who bassically drugs, and mind breaks women into sex slaves. and then MC either protects family through love route, or enslaves family in corruption route. Or goes full on swinger and voyeur if your a cuck bitch.

although I suppose the NTR was very fluid, and mainly consequential. That added alot stakes and emotion to some scenes. So ya i can def see some good things like this. Always love a well crafted story, with cause effect and consequence or some kinda pay-off.

honestly would prefer more blood related incest type, with family action, say maybe both parents were in the police force, the father was an undercover agent, along with the mother and were on a multi year case invloving some kinda drug, and sex trafficking gang that hand far reaching hands, and maybe the father was killed in some incident, that sent the mother into some kinda revenge bust that ended up with her son's mistake or something, which now drags the whole family into the situation? but not sure how that would effect the step father, maybe more of just mom's new partner/boyfriend role?

not sure, but over all not sure what kinda content you would be willing to include? def feel like drugs, rape, corruption, group sex, pregnancy, graphic violence, sexual harrasment, etc. are basic necessities when it comes to the gang type novels.

I understand that sentiment however I really hope the audience feels the story is nothing like that game. Lets just say subtlety is going to be the sauce this entire story is bathed in, until it starts bubbling over.

Things might go from one to a hundred but the characters are my main focus and so they will feel like real people and hopefully people get attached to them. That makes the NTR so much more the bittersweet taste.

well in terms on incest, no one said it had to be willing? like maybe the gang thinks its a funny joke to make this broken gang bitch a sex toy and then use said situation to have both the mom and son violate eachother or bad shit happens? like mom gets caught and in desperation does anything to keep her family alive, which lead to an insane "joke situation" for the gang were she's just some fuck toy for the group and is forced to partake in an almost non-con situation for with son and or daughters, or hell maybe the whole family together, and it becomes just some sick twisted game for a few of the gang members to partake in. think i could dig up a few hentai manga on nhentai with this kinda situation and stuff in interested and what not, but ya. theres plenty of stuff that could be used, or fit into.

Either way, im frankly sick an tired of all these basic ass vanilla games the just poor out the ass hole lately, and hoping for something unique and gripping. personally love the blackheart games, "blackheart Hotel" "Personal Assistant" and then stuff like Raptus, between salvation and abyss, and similair dark horse stories hehe

Back to the incest thing: when the MC blows the cover of her cop mother, do people find out they are related or it's just the cover part that gets busted? If they don't know they are related, here is an option how they might "need" to do sexual things with each other, like pretend they are lovers but they need to be very convincing. There could be even a foursome with some important person so they would really have to do it for real. Kind of a forced thing but in the end they would find enjoyment, that would be hot (for a lot of people). Just an idea...

To a certain extent yes. However the story requires the plausible situation and that is what I am striving to create first.
However yes every LI and Family member is affected by the NTR. To what extent is yet to be revealed.
