And how many of these got finished?
I remember Summertime Saga and Milfy City used to be in the top rated games here until one got abandoned and the other is getting miked to death by the dev. Say what you want about the Japanese but at least they can actually finish the god damn games
Reading the OP. I completely agree on your sentiment. I was gonna go on this tangent too, while venturing into the infrastructure. Which I think, the other guy covered very well. There's sadly not much of an insentive to finish any games and devs are hardly ever held accountable for their behavior and are further shielded by their sycophants. The whole industry is kind of fucked.
You'd never eat at a restaurant. Where the cook was unable to even boil an egg or hire an architect. Who had only ever made and "designed" haphazardly built bird house. Yet idiots see the developer's incompetence and lack of experience as an excuse for their poor work. We all need to start somewhere, but it's different when money is involved. A vast majority of these con artist also has it as a side project. Why should I ever support a complete greenhorn's half-assed work? It's not a good investment to say the least. More often than not the content is also held hostage by a ponzi scheme-like excuse of needing more money to finish the game. Where there's only 1 winner. I say ponzi scheme, since an inner core will be "recruited" to gather more support in hope of other's getting further support... without any regards of the actual development and product. It's different from a great product being spread by word of mouth. If you want a hint of what I mean. Find games that has been in "development" for over 6 months with barely any work on it since the initial release (might have some version updates, but next to no content in them). Look at the reviews and see if it mentions it having a great potential. This shit is gonna be milked for years.
Should anyone feel sorry for these fuckers and say they have to earn money somehow for their work... why the fuck aren't they showing any of their previous work as a reassurance of their skills? Why aren't we given a bit of a timeframe for the expected development time? If they have no fucking clue, then it's probably not structured/managed that well. The real reason the scammers (not the few good apples) don't include a timeline. Is because they could more easily be held accountable for their lack of work. Have you seen how much actual devs gets done in the different game jams? Most do this solo or in really small teams. Most 24 hour jams gets more done than the scammers do in a year. I'm not overexaggerating and you'd see that too, if you gave it a look. The ones going for a week or two have more polished and interesting games, than a vast majority of the few adult games, that does gets finished.
The mentality and arrogance of the scammers ought to be ridiculed. Yet it's shielded because all too many people are braindead when it comes to porn. Why are you (not you
thatisthecase, but the hypothetical worrywart who fell for the scam) afraid of a game or developer receiving legit criticism? Should the project be destroyed by such a minute thing, then it'd never be done in the first place. The "game" was, however, never meant to be finished. There only ever was a """great potential""", to lure in suckers like you.
