So, who goes mad first: you, trying to write all those interwoven threads or us trying to follow them all?

It's madness, but it's a good madness.
At the moment it is a bit of a whirlwind. That is one reason we wanted to flesh out the story in alpha and then do a complete rewrite for the beta.

As we write scenes we constantly come up with ways we can integrate it into other character's scenes and find ways to do cross overs and references. It's maddening because you can only see those opportunities after the fact. But we have a log book of ideas and when the beta rewrite comes along you will see a much more cohesive story that seems more intertwined than the independent threads we have available so far.

It's evolution at it's finest!

The downside, is that our Patron contributions will not be enough to get us there quickly. Rest assured, every dollar invested in us is going towards this build, but until that time, we're financing most of this out of pocket, and we have only so much disposable income each paycheck. So we are still several weeks out from completing the implementation of this new machine.
@RomanHume Hey mates. So, how much money do you need for this "new PC" that you are building? I might be able to help somewhat with that.

No doubt you want to hear about how this week we've completed Act one for Emily and Amanda. We now have four of seven characters that have the first third of their story written and coded. But what you really want to hear about, is how close are we to rendering images and pushing out our next distribution.
So here is the break down of parts acquired and parts still needed. We used all of the money accumulated via Patreon to purchase the processor and cooler. Thank you for that, it was a large part of the build total. The rest we've been slowly purchasing out of pocket week by week.

Parts in Hand:
  • Intel Core i7 8700K - $328.28 (Paid for by Patrons)
  • Vortex Plus CPU Cooler - $27.89 (Paid for by Patrons)
  • Phanteks Full Tower Chassies - $99.99
  • EVGA SuperNOVA 850 - $119.99
  • 4 x Artic F14 Case Fans for a total of 6 case fans - $31.96
Parts to Purchase:
  • Motherboard: ASUS ROG STRIX Z370 - $180
  • 16GB Ballistix RAM Module - $168.99 (Will eventually upgrade to 4 sticks, but only one is required to get us back online.)
  • 2TB HDD - $59.89
  • Windows 10 - $92..99
  • GTX 1070 - $550.00
In the meantime, we will continue to redirect all patron support to system upgrades as well as the paycheck from my second job. And of course writing and coding will continue unabated. When this system comes online, we will start jamming out the visuals and kicking out the updates one full Act at a time. So there will be plenty of content coming your way to reward you for your patience.

Thanks for sticking with us! It's been a helluva hiccup, but we'll have this train rolling again very soon.

Salute my friends!

No, no, it's "African or European?"
But that would be the coconut capacity of migrating swallows as opposed to anthropoid exchange rates.

But then African Swallows are not migratory. (At this point about 90% of the thread readers are saying "WTF?")

Yup... I wanted to buy in to this when I read your post but I didn't want to bloat the thread with useless 'Holy Grail' references! LMAO!!
(p.s. I was 10yo when MPFC started - that's the reason my sense of humour is sooooo broken!! heh heh...)

Well, it will be a while for the next update, so, if nothing else, it keeps the thread alive. Here's what I just read on Patreon:

Another week past, another quick update. Nanami's first act has been completed and we are moving on to Lupita's. Completion at this point of course only means written and coded. At this rate, we fully expect to have Act I for all of the characters completed before the end of the month.
Assembly of the new system is progressing smoothly. Dual employment sucks, but again, at this rate, it will be a short lived inconvenience.

While we are using our Patreon income to purchase hardware, and making contributions out of pocket ourselves, there is an opportunity for others who may not wish to become patrons but would like to help us past this roadblock.

If anyone is interested in helping support our endeavor but is looking for an alternate method of contribution, Amazon gift cards are an excellent resource. We are purchasing all of our hardware through Amazon because not only do we get top notch customer service, but we can insure the parts for an extra ten bucks and get it next day.

And while we're on the topic of alternative methods of support. We are also happy to accept as well. We make it a habit to purchase all of our digital assets from Daz to ensure maximum compatibility with the plug-ins and upgrades we've acquired. Through either Amazon or Daz, you can avoid doing business with Patreon and still support our project.

Any contribution will earn you recognition in the game credits and for any contribution over $100, we'll put together a custom render for you using a character of your choice.

In the meantime, here is what the shopping list looks like today:

Parts in Hand:

  • Intel Core i7 8700K – $328.28 (Paid for by Patrons)
  • Vortex Plus CPU Cooler – $27.89 (Paid for by Patrons)
  • Phanteks Full Tower Chassies – $99.99
  • EVGA SuperNOVA 850 – $119.99
  • 4 x Artic F14 Case Fans for a total of 6 case fans – $31.96
  • Motherboard: ASUS ROG STRIX Z370 – $180
  • 16GB Ballistix RAM Module – $168.99 (Courtesy of Sjoher)
  • 2TB HDD – $59.89 (Courtesy of Sjoher)
Parts to Purchase*:

  • Windows 10 – $92..99
  • GTX 1070 – $550.00
That's all I've got for now. In the meantime, we'll keep jamming.

Cheers Mates!

Ha this seems like a patron to build him a new rig rather then create a game. Not even releasing updates and offering to re-render later.

Guy has turned milking into an art.

Any ideas of next update?
All I can say is soon, and I hope very soon. We are one part away from having our imaging rendering engine up and running. We have plenty of story ready to go, we just need some saucy pics to go with it.

You're goddamned right. In fact, I'm such a milk artist that I took a second job (well, third if writing this game counts as a job) just to help pay for it. In fact, 63% of the cost of this new rig is coming straight out of my pocket. Add that to the 100% of the expense for digital assets, characters, locations, software, etc that also came out of my pocket, and you could say I'm the fucking Michelangelo of Patreon milking. Woot Woot!

100% of the cost of my rig came out of my own pocket. In any case at the end of the day it's between you and your patrons.

I've supported many devs and artists via kickstarter/patreon but would never donate to buy them a new rig instead of content. That's like saying to a prospective uber driver who doesn't have a car here I'll front you 5K so you can buy a car to drive me to the gym every sunday.

In any case best of luck on your game not personal just surprised what people will donate and for what. Maybe I'm in the wrong business .
