Even if you have deleted the previous version of the game, the save files for this game aren't in the folder where the game is located
The save files for the game are located in C:\Users\[YourUserName]\AppData\LocalLow\KsTgames\The Twist
The save files should be named like "playerInfo.dat", "playerInfo2.dat" etc.

I am no longer able to save or load games. When the start menu comes up I can start new, see options, see credits. When I click load game all I see is the background screen. Same thing if I start a new game and then try to save. I unzipped files again and also completely downloaded the game file again from the server. Any ideas?

an idea : the path to your storage folder "C:\Users\[YourUserName]\AppData\LocalLow\ (...)" might be demaged somehow, hence the game is unable to create a fresh save and put it in the correct place ( as this place doesn't exist at all)

... because what you're describing pretty much sounds like how the game should react if both the folder "C:\Users\[YourUserName]\AppData\LocalLow\KsTgames\The Twist " didn't exist at all, and the game additionaly is unable to create the final subfolders ( as the respective path doesn't exist)

just my 5 pennys worth...
