If you get him with his Payment Processor Thay will mark his file when they cancel his account. If you can show them he is selling Piriteted/Stollen content. No payment processor wants to work with someone selling stolen goods. If they report him to the card networks he's done

Well that beats the shit out of going through copyright law. What is his payment processor?

You all making too big of a fuss out of this. That website is obviously ran by some poor fella trying to make a qukick buck he's probably under 20 as well. It definitely is a problem that he is claiming games as his own, but as long as patreon doesn't buy into this and starts banning actual developers I don't think this is SUCH a big deal. Really, he is capitalizing only on the fact that he translated them to Italian.

Developers should provide an easy or maybe even integrated translation mechanism. With easy translation mechanism people should see less value in attempting something as illegal as this.

Embed copyright notices through the code and make it difficult to remove them without breaking the game.
Embed copyright into the image meta data.
Embed copyright into pixel data using visual cryptography software.

This will ensure that if it comes to lawsuits your case is rock-solid so you can be a worry free as a bird and can always prove at moments notice that you do in fact own the content, whether it is to the law or Patreon itself.

Also some kind of a centralized distribution website for patreon games would be nice this would also shy away anyone from illegal ventures, but site would need to be 100% within legal boundaries unlike f95 which really isnt. and f95 is really just a forum not a distribution site where you can easily search for games and ez click download button

You realize he's stealing our content, profiting off of it, claiming it as his own, then contacting Patreon trying to get our games shut down, right? This is also my only source of income.

Renpy does have a very easy way to translate games. There's literally a translate button on Renpy that extracts all the dialog and prepares it for translation.

There is something of a copyright notice on my game. "Made by Runey" and "If you bought this, you wasted money." Both of those are in my game.

As a Community we can clearly do something about a Asshat like that. DDoS his Site into Oblivion?
Don't DDOS anyone. What he's doing is illegal, and he knows it's illegal. What we're doing is not illegal. If we begin to fight fire with fire, we're both going to be in the wrong, and right now, we aren't.

Did I say anything that would make you think I am not aware he is stealing and profiting? These kind of issues have been around since inception of software, this is absolutely nothing new id say it was even expected to happen sooner or later as supply and demand grow. Like others said there is not much you can do, except serious legal action and perhaps reporting to payment processor.

Patreon is not going to ban anyone that he reports and certainly I don't think you will lose any patrons due to his site. Best thing is to have multiple developers report the site to Patreon so that Patreon itself is familiar with the issue. So do what you can within legal bounds and relax. This is not some doom and gloom scenario.

What he is doing is very risky. I can even bet that stress will get to him before the law and he will shut it down.

How did I manage to miss this hilarious thread is beyond my comprehension.

Now this is kind of a tough situation since it is difficult to send the whole matter to court (which court by the way, the European one?).
So that made me think: what about one of you guys with money to lose pays for a subscription, downloads the games and then send it back to their respective devs, which in turn will put the thoroughly translated (and presumably correct) version to their patreon page? This is the easiest, most effortless thing that can be done imho and, in a way, it's sort of a win-win situation, or to better say, a steal-steal situation. >:)

Just my 2 cents.

Patreon did send me an email telling me they were going to remove my page (ban me) if I didn't remove all content sexualizing under aged girls (Which isn't something I'm doing). So it does look like Patreon is wanting to remove my page based on his report.

I've responded to that email, and I hope they listen and understand the situation, but they're very slow in responding.

This would be a bad move that could complicate the issue, and the stealer/troll in this case is im betting actually hoping some developers do that. Developers should hire translators(i am sure its not extremely expensive nowadays). This is the only way to be sure you wont complicate the issue.

If you don't have any content that is against their TOS then you don't have to worry. I am sure they manually review content before they do anything drastic. Even then I think this only applies for stuff you have directly posted/uploaded to patreon itself.

Manually reviewing content takes time so they probably just rushed with the email to see your response or something, may be a bit insensitive on their part but patreon is a big site I am sure they are doing the best they can.

I think the steps above will do, IMO isn't renp'y easy to be hack? i use notepad and i easily see the code with some googling i can find vulnerabilities

They actually don't manually review content. They will never personally play my game to find out if I'm telling the truth. They always go off of reports. They do take a look at Patreon pages though, and well, a small chested girl in college wearing a college uniform could easily look like a young girl.

That would be hilarious :ROFLMAO:
But no, I don't think this would be a good idea.

Edit: And yes, renpy games are really easy to hack (I don't know any other engine that makes it easier...)

Anything can be hacked especially games where you can read/edit the code, but you can make it more difficult for those who try. So if you make it difficult enough to the point you would need to be a half decent programmer to crack it you would effectively solve the problem since anyone who knows anything of value usually doesn't waste time directly stealing other's work.

They actually don't manually review content. They will never personally play my game to find out if I'm telling the truth. They always go off of reports. I actually did some googling, and found this image of college students in their uniforms, and it looks almost exactly like Ashley's (Except Ashley's is blue)
So they just ban people randomly based of random reports not bothering to check if reports are true or false? Do you know if this ever happened in practice(someone getting falsely and permanently banned based of false report/s)?

Not only do they apparently not even check, they'll just go off of only one report.

I personally don't know this to be true, but I've been told this by a lot of people who have had way more experience than I do in this business.

edit: And considering there are 2 other characters that are Ashley's same age, in Ashleys same school, in Ashley's same class, but the only difference being that they have bigger breasts than hers, all leads me to believe they've never touched my game.

Re modelling Ashley will not be possible for me. There's just way too much CGs in the game, it would take me a whole month or two to do. The easiest solution (if Patreon does say all sexual content with Ashley needs to be out of the game) would be to skip over all sexual content with Ashley, but keep her story.

That just doesn't make any sense, anyone could get anyone banned then and patreon wouldnt be making any money. Like you said they probably dont play the game, but they probably review the resource files themselves since the resources can be unpacked and quickly analysed. Srsly pulling 10k a month and they gonna ban you off 1 report, cmmon

Hah my registration timing does seem coincidental with the start of this thread but I hope you are joking since if you are serious your accusation would be founded in prejudice, which is not very nice - you know. Also it doesn't make sense since I never defended or justified the actions of the stealer/troll, all I said was some making too much fuss about it which I believe to be true and then made some points which I am not sure if you got.

Wait, why do I have to justify myself? Well, I don't. Believe what you want.

No, I am not who you accuse me to be I am just another wanna-be developer :p

Unfortunately, the kids in this pic are high schoolers, not university students. In Australia, “secondary college” is just our fancy way of saying high school. So these three are probably 16-17 year olds.
