I worry because the story progression has already been slower than in most games.
I agree with your other comments about choices, but I am happy with Lam's explanation of them; it sounds like he is adding choices as a selector for repeatable content rather than a branching storyline, so (y) (y) from me.

But the quoted comment above I call shenanigans on. This game has ticked like a fine Swiss clock. Sure the updates are small, but a Daz game that updates every few weeks and almost never misses?! That's amazing. I have zero problems with the developers production rate.

His last clarification eased most of my concern - probably I got a whiff of 'branching' and trauma from other lost games got the better of me.

And I don't care all that much when updates are "small" as long as they are regular - it's the fact that virtually nothing much new has happened in what seems like a hot minute. Maybe talking (a lot) with Nana was the plan all along, as well as continually delaying the attack on the town, and so on, but it feels to me like story progression has stalled and most of the built up tension has dissipated.

I'm hoping it's just the calm before the storm.

My point was that I'm fine with the dev figuring the story out, but if all sorts of lateral storylines become the focus then that often provides the excuse an author needs to stop working on the harder job of pushing the story forward.

"Hey, what's that place with all the shit on the walls...?"

Just wanted to say, that I know exactly where I am going with this.
As for the attack on the town, there's hardly anybody left that's not dead or in the very large family:
If you're hoping for people being dragged out of there homes and mutilated, well...you may be disappointed.
I have to keep in mind, that I'm going to need the townsfolk, for the rest of the story, or else that puts a very tight leash on what could be possible in the future.

I have never liked, and never will favor a single plotline story, when I'm writing something.
This gives me many ways to intersect, and create possibilities that may turn out interesting, or fun.
Arc 2 will also have a few stories happening at once.
This will also alleviate the only topic on every girls mind being "i like the mc, i wanna work toward sex with him."
That was a pretty heavy mistake on my part in the first arc.

These characters need to have lives and interests of their own that are happening when they aren't interacting with the MC.
However, that DOES NOT throw the romance and lewdness planned for this arc, out the window. rest assured of that.
I want to show a part of all of the LI's lives and what they have had to deal with, or what kind of background they have.
I feel like this makes for more interesting possibilities as well.
Plus, I like to get to know my characters a bit more this way. It helps with their decisions, and way of thinking.
I feel like I have managed so far with all of the characters that have had their lives examined a bit or have dealt with certain traumas.

Anyway, I'm rambling.

I just wanted to address any concerns of possible aimlessness.
There is none.

I mean, at least one of the LIs was also putting sone secondary effort into banging her daughter, so there's that....

That's actually a good point. Had you spent a bunch of time developing secondary character depth the plot advancement would have slowed even more, so that's a tough pickle.

That makes me curious though. If I may ask you a game development craft question-- If you had to start over again and could remedy the "heavy mistake", how would you do it? Would you just put additional content in early, or replace some of the current content with character-building, or reduce the size of the cast? And if one of the latter to, what/who would have been mostly likely chopped (or shifted to Arc 2 or whatever)?

OK, you're talking about narrative pacing and story development, not quantity of content. That's a valid (if subjective) critique, I withdraw the declaration of shenanigans.

I would most likely alter/add/include some dialogue to add everyday things, and perhaps whats going on now in their lives, intersts, activities, etc..
Not just single minded conversation.
Scenes would probably be 10-15 renders longer, but i would make it flow properly.
In turn, would make slightly longer updates.
I think that everything that's in there now, belongs and fits, I just don't like that its the sole topic of conversation a lot of the time.

These are things that I'm learning so I can implement them onto the next project.

I hope that answered your question.

Kill em all then start next season with "and then new people moved in" ready for round 2 of the murderising.
