"Failed to initialize the player" means you're missing files for the game to load. This is usually the case because when you extracted the files from HolyKnightRicca_Data.7z, it already contained the folder HolyKnightRicca_Data. So you ended up with a sub folder of the same name in HolyKnightRica_Data folder. Thus causing you to be missing all the important game data files.

Basically if you have "...\HolyKnightRicca_v132en\Game\HolyKnightRicca_Data\HolyKnightRicca_Data\..." you've failed to follow the second step.

Watch the video tutorial if you're unable to follow the steps properly.

Brutal rape + voice acting does not go down very easily. I also dislike unavoidable rape.
This game is definitely not for the faint of heart. I enjoyed it, but damn does it get dark.

I don't fault you for finding it hard to play. It was more of a one-time for thing for me too. Not sure I want to have the stomach to go through all that again.

So, I just beat the game. Collected all the clothes (that I know of) and have all my skills maxxed. Now I don't know what to do. Is there any other games like this with a great story and decent hentai? Or is this a one off thing and now that I've completed it I'll never find anything this good for the rest of my existence (or until the Append comes out)?

Edit: Yes, I have all the scenes and illustrations too. The only thing I don't have is that one part in the second to last main story level where it requires the "Append" version, which of course isn't out yet.

how to make more costume save i need more
If you open the config.txt file in the main Game file (the file that contains HolyKnightRicca.exe) and go down a few lines, you will find ' "costumeSlotCount": x, ' [x is the current number of costume slots you have]

Make a backup of the original config.txt file first and save it somewhere outside the game folder. Then you can edit the number "x" in your non-backup file to however many slots you want. Save it and when you start your game and go into a save, you should have that number of slots available for costumes.

How do I know about this? I saw it posted earlier in this discussion somewhere near the beginning where the OP download of the game is. But I can't seem to find it right now since I'm getting post-work drowsiness.

I extracted the files from HolyKnightRicca_Data.7z and HolyKnightRicca_4K_Data.7z to the HolyKnightRicca_Data folder with no subfolder of the same name, but it simply will not run without the data.unity3d file being in the HolyKnightRicca_Data folder. It will return a Failed to initialize player error. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. It seems intrinsically necessary for the unity file to be present to launch the game. I've watched the guide video and I'm following the steps to a T and it still fails to launch. Someone tell me I'm stupid or I'm gonna go crazy doing the same thing over and over to see if it changes the outcome. Vaas was right o_o
