I'm so glad you're enjoying the game this much, it really means a lot to hear your positive feedback! Especially that you're finding the plot engaging, since it's where most of my efforts are focused.

So I'm sure I mentioned it previously in this thread, but I don't mind repeating. The game as I've envisioned it, will be made up of 5 parts. Each part spanning a new world, with a fresh cast, a different plot, and even different kinds of mechanics. At its core, it'll still be a Visual Novel, but I'm hoping to have it evolve as time goes on. Currently, by my estimation Part 1 should span 12 or 13 versions, so essentially you'll have just crossed over the halfway point as you'll see the tone changes a little. I want each part to span a year IRL, but I'm keeping it flexible because the story and pace should never be rushed.

The list of soundtracks is quite long, I'll maybe add a section with the names and artists when I have room to breathe between updates.

As for a walkthrough of sorts... the paths aren't too complex at this current time as I wanted to keep things simple, but I'll look into it.
Ah, I should have read through the thread first before posting. I'll do that now.

Yes, do credit the artists of the soundtracks!

A walkthrough would be nice, but just knowing the number of different branches is also good enough. For example, there seems to be a very big difference if you go to the hot spring with Mei and end up being caught by (probably) Kiana instead of interacting with Kiana first.
That's right. I didn't want to develop already developed characters as I feel Hoyo did a fantastic job on that.
I'm not quite sure what you mean by this. You feel that having a captain interact with the real, non-virtual cast will interfere with their development somehow?
If all goes as intended, it should continue for approximately 4 and a half years. I aim to complete 1 part every 12 or 13 months, and a total of 5 parts are planned.
That's quite a time commitment. I wish you all the best. It would be great to see this completed.

Yes, that's one of the bigger ones, but I think there's really only a handful as the novel is mostly kinetic. I will look into making some sort of guide, but I promise when you see it it'll look pretty simple. I understand people don't want to miss content though.

It's not about interference in their development, but rather how their development has completed. Kiana and crew are fully developed. They've faced all their adversities as well as their inner demons, there's really little to no room to grow, and while I could just parrot back their stories from Honkai Impact 3rd, it's very low effort, and who would want to read it again if they've played the game themselves. For the most part, the virtual reality of it all gives me tons of creative freedom regarding the characters as well as the setting, as you've no doubt seen.

So from a game development/writing point of view, it's a lot easier this way to create and have the player be invested. If you experience their growing pains, you'll naturally care more for them.

I hope I explained this well enough:unsure:

Thank you! I hope to hear your feedback at the end of it all.

Great to know.

That's understandable. It's more than possible to insert an OC into a canon story and not make it feel boring or repetitive, but your concerns are valid. Still, I'd personally have this take place in AUs in either the Sea of Quanta or the Imaginary Tree. It'd feel more real, more real than just VR characters. I know that at the end of this, the captain will exit the virtual world, and the characters will vanish, never truly having existed at all. It just feels bad.

If I was going to insert OCs then I might as well just make something completely original, and while the Sea of Quanta is a viable option I didn't want to be too constrained by Honkai's laws. I love the cast, and that's why I specifically wanted them and not OCs.

As for your point regarding the characters never truly existing, it's a fair point, and all I'll say is that it's something I've considered. After all, even though the 13 Flamechasers' sims were completely erased they were real, they were their own, and you can't deny they existed.

Bubble universes and the Imaginary Tree aren't constrained in this way. Just look at Genshin or Star Rail or the various bubbles visited in the Captainverse. They're all unique with their own details, and they aren't subject to the Honkai unless you want them to be.

The sims were self-aware and ended up impacting the world outside the ER. Are these virtual characters self-aware? Are they "alive" in this sense? Will they know the truth about them and their world and that they'll never see the captain again after he leaves? If these are all true, then you can have a meaningful story. You can write an emotional goodbye scene like Because of You was for the ER sims. But if they aren't truly self-aware, if they're just literal NPCs in a video game, it wouldn't feel anywhere as emotional.

While they are unique, when I said confined to the rules of Honkai I meant the premise(Honkai Impact 3rd) not Honkai in the game. The idea of the bubble universe as well as the imaginary tree is governed by a strict set of rules, a set of rules defined by Mihoyo. Before I decided to do or say anything I'd have to research to be sure I don't go against any of the rules and laws of the entities known as the bubble universe or imaginary tree. If I did say something that did not align with the properties of these entities, the story would be less truthful to the Honkai premise and in that way become less "real". The properties and definitions can also be changed in later chapters of Honkai, and my story becomes less real in that sense too.

As for your second point... I'll once again have to refrain from commenting. I do appreciate it though, it shows your investment. I don't know how far you've made it, but you should be getting a sense that I've taken this into account as you get further in.

I get that. I write fanfics for HI3, and I try to stay within the pre-established rules, too. But it's okay to bend or break a few. This is fanfiction. It doesn't need to conform to the canon. It already doesn't! And that's a good thing because it means our creativity can lead the way.

That's good to know. I trust in your vision for your story. I know that you take it seriously and not as some cheap, throwaway thing with no emotional meaning.

A fellow writer huh, I appreciate your input even more. I do completely agree with your point, and at the end of the day most people won't care if you stray here and there from those pre-established rules, but I'm a harsh critic on myself. Whether that's a good thing or not I can't say, but I'd be dissatisfied if I got rules wrong or misinterpreted the properties of the Sea of Quanta and Imaginary Tree and those fallicies became imortlised in my game. But what you're saying is correct, and perhaps once these 5 years are over if I decide to work on something new, I won't be so worried about breaking the canon.

It really makes me happy to hear that, I'm sure your trust isn't misplaced.

Will you be including yuri H scenes between Bronya and Seele and Kiana and Mei and so on? Or threesomes? I saw that you made some yuri scenes on your Pixiv account, which look great, and I want to see more. It'd also fit in with the plot since they're still close to each other there.

It looks great, but the fact that the premise revolves around it being just a virtual thing takes away from the immersion and morbid sensations it could have and doesn't feel very satisfying.

At least in my case

and I doubt I'm the only one

I haven't played this game yet, but this is going to be the best game ever if the MC doesn't even take his captain's hat off When he's fucking one of his ladies. :ROFLMAO:

Awesome, a new update. I encountered a bug that prevents me from continuing, though. After Sentience's 2 stages, there are no more options other than the "Trick or Treat" segment (which is really random but still fun), which never goes away after playing it. The option screen just permanently stays at Trick or Treat.
