So, in between working on my active projects, I've been developing a couple ideas for what to do next. One of the ideas I have could be done either as a Depraved Awakening type dark drama, or as a campy slice of life thing. Currently I'm leaning toward doing a little of both.

An example of a camp scene I would include if I went that way is this:

After nearly dying trying to a rescue a girl and awakening a power hiding in his bloodline, the MC manages to annihilate the threat to the girl and blacks out. The next morning he wakes up in his bed confused as to how he got there. He wonders if the last night was a dream, until he feels a warm wet sensation on his dick, looking down under his covers he finds the girl going down on him. Before he can ask her what the fuck is going on his sister knocks on his bedroom door, announcing that she's entering, he freaks out, and attempts to hide the girl. This of course not only fails but backfires, causing his sister to start screeching calling him a delinquent and a pervert, hitting him, etc.
Would that be something people would find fun and entertaining, or would it turn you guys off?

I actually don't quite understand what "camp" means, but I like the scene that you described here. It actually reminds me of some Anime/ Manga.

Personally I hate games that too complex/load of information at the beginning, like Depraved Awakening starting point. Any ideas are fine as long as you're nurture your audience slowly with the game is about, like 1/4 of the progression. When it reach part 2/4, things getting serious, your audience feel comfortable with the game and you can just going wild with your plot line. Plot twist at part 3/4 and finishing or another twisted ending at part 4/4.

This one time at band camp... Camps seem to be an American thing or at least it seems to me. I'm Canadian, and I was never threatened to be sent to camp over the summer or stuff like that by my folks. Camp for me was Boy Scouts where we slept in lean-to's in the Rocky Mountains, drank water from flowing rivers and streams, swimming in glacial runoff water when the temps were too hot and trekking a few kilometers to get off the beaten path. The scene you describe sounds interesting enough to me and could be used pretty much anywhere, doesn't have to be at camp

It's a word for a type of deliberately over the top humor. Anime is very likely to use this kind of stuff, and as Benn said, "Highschool D x D" is simply purely this kind of camp. Of course, I tend to like a little bit of campy humor in more serious stuff.

What I like about campy moments is that they humanize the characters. It takes our strong and powerful protagonist who is dealing with a powerful and dangerous antagonist and shows that he's still just a dude with a family and regular problems too.

However, I also know that it can get annoying as hell, and that not everyone appreciates this kind of light hearted affair. So I'm testing the waters now before committing to anything. Who knows, maybe I'm worrying about nothing.

Then I like it. It would be something different :) And I like to laught, so I vote for YES!

It's not that kind of camp, he's referring to over the top cheesy humour which is called camp humour not an actual camp people go to.

I don't mind campy fun, in fact, nowadays I feel dark and gritty is boring and entertainment that is genuinely fun catches my attention more often. If anything, most of my favorite porn games have generous doses of humor, including Waifu Academy that is also doing a serious plot with lots of humor and sexy on top of it.

However, if such a game were to exist, I'd say to drop the annoying Manga tropes, being hit and called a pervert is not funny at all.

Dark.... Love dark stuff. Dark, not depressing. Nothing like blackmirror. DA is my fav male mc here...but it wasn't that dark.

Campy... You mean like Deluca, belle from Long live...or The Inn? I'd like that.

About that camp scene... Its understandable if she catches you sexualizing her. But why would she call you a delinquent for having some fun with another willing girl?

If it's the little sister, it's because of a well know mind bias. She idealize her big bro and see him like everyone tend to see his own parents... They don't have sex !!! They never ever had sex in their whole life !!!
Seeing her parents have sex would have been gross for her, but she know deep inside that in fact they had enough sex to have her and her bro. But her bro, it's something else. By having sex in front of her, whatever it's voluntarily or not, he is breaking the ideal brother she imagined. It's his fault if she can't see him anymore as a model. And who's rude enough to break young innocent girls' dreams except delinquents ?

I think if you establish the tone and stick with it, it works fine. I don't think a porn game has to take itself seriously. Though I did have an idea for a campy game in a summer camp, camp^2. Was torn between campy horror, a la Jason crystal lake and campy fun, like American Pie Band Camp but less shit.

Well, I didn't know what camp was but I guess my game can be classified as camp, haha.

Go for whatever isn't slice of life and bound by realism.
Not that there is anything wrong with that but we as dev should experience with all aspects of this already niche market. If we simply follow whatever is already done to death, the market will not move anywhere.
But it's also a huge gamble.

I still haven't played yours, though I downloaded it. Now that I know it's campy too, I'm gonna play it sooner. I was thinking it was more serious and decided I might wait for the next update.

But I agree about treading new ground, that's why Seraphim Academy is gonna be more of a psychological thriller. I still haven't fully decided the way this game will play, but I'm thinking it will be pretty different from what everyone is used to in a number of ways. I kinda want to have a bit of a "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" vibe to it, (I know, dated reference)

Anne explained a little of it, but there's actually a little more to it as well. First off, the character is intended to play as Tsundere.
Tsundere (ツンデレ, pronounced [tsɯndeɾe]) is a Japanese term for a character development process that describes a person who is initially cold (and sometimes even hostile) before gradually showing a warmer, friendlier side over time.
But aside from that, our story picks up after the family was forced to move to a new city when MC got expelled from his previous school for nearly killing another student. The MC was sickly as a child, and as a result is more of a geek/nerd than a jock asshole, but once he hit puberty, his mysterious illnesses disappeared, he grew muscle, got tall, etc, without much work on his part, and he sort of became a "defender of the weak" as his nerdy friends were the victims of bullying and he had the power to put a stop to it. He gained a reputation as a delinquent for always being in trouble for getting into fights, and eventually nearly killed someone.

So, at the start of the game, your little half sister, who's conveniently within a year of your age, is angry at you for upending her life. She also cares deeply for him. Her relationship, despite being younger, has some of the hallmarks of an elder sister, due to how sickly you were as a child. She would often assist your mother in taking care of you when things were really bad. Then, of course, when you got strong and tall and became something for her to look up to, she began to develop all the little sister admiration as well. So now, here she is, walking in on the brother who "ruined her life", the brother she cares for, the brother she admires, and his dick is out and some strange girl is in there with him.

There's also a little bit of "daddy issues" there as well. Their mother was married to her father when the MC was concieved. He was a soldier though, and got deployed right before the mother's birthday. Her friends took her out to a bar where [spoilers happen] and she ends up pregnant with the MC, conveniently timed enough for it to have been the husband's. He comes home from his tour after the kid is born, and knocks her up before going off again. A couple years later, the MC is sick in the hospital and the doctors want to do a bone marrow transfusion, so they test the father's compatibility and he learns that he's not the father, goes ballistic, hurts the mother and leaves. The daughter, as a result, never had a father figure, the closest she got was her brother once he hit puberty.

In Germany they used to have another type of camp, I think...

Seriously, your story idea seems interesting although I don't really like the superhero aspect of it. There is no reason why the MC can't be a normal guy who happened to get really tall and strong. Maybe he got into sports and/or martial arts without acquiring a jock attitude.

Also in general I don't really like the combination of humour with porn. I find that porn better combines with darker or even violent themes.

Somehow this discussion also reminds me of
Which is not a bad game at all, but I have to say that the story did somewhat put me off a couple of time.

He's not a superhero. I left certain things purposefully vague, so it makes sense that you'd come to that conclusion, but no, this is gonna be a modern dark fantasy, somewhere in the realm, again, of something like Buffy, or Supernatural.

As a result, this actually will be getting dark and violent. Not necessarily to the extent that you might like, but very much so in a domination sense.

Comparing it to I Love Daddy would be considered high praise to me, since I'm a huge fan, it's still my favorite completed game. This will be darker than most of that (though probably not as dark as the ending where the titular daddy just starts using her and her mother and her roommate as his personal fucktoys.)

What ? Play it right now, seriously. I know that, like me, you focus on the story and hope to see a good writing... And that's what you'll got with . I don't think that there's actually a game that's better wrote that this one. @HopesGaming could be author for any AAA company without any problem.
It take a little time to get it, but once you encounter Luna, there's no turning back. Then you talk to Wilfred after knowing who he is, and you understand why the game felt not this engaging at first. You didn't knew Wilfred's personality at this time, so it felt odd, but once you get it, you look back at this part and feel how deeply good the writing is.

IMO camp is great as a a counterpoint to serious. light, fluffy, camp banality against harsh, cruel and perhaps in particular, chaotic reality works very well. I don't know how many of you watched Fargo but that series worked for me because of the way empty boring "normal" lives were played off against interesting but horrific events.

Any game that takes a significant time in development over a large number of updates needs a little of another flavour than it's mainstay to prevent it becoming boring, for example if the tragic nature of a lot of the events in acting lessons weren't played off against the the funny aspects, notably Liam it just wouldn't carry so much weight.

Basically there is a place for campy humour and camp characters in a game that isn't in itself camp, in fact it adds more weight to the overall game by way of giving contrast, or at least making us smile a little.

That looks interesting. I like tsundere. Like the incest dynamic. I'd love a younger sister with an elderly attitude part. But personally, I wouldn't be able to get fully immersed in that story.

The fake father and special powers are roadblocks for me. In real life I'd love superpowers, but in fantasy i am vicarious. I'd rather my powers and privileges were a result of my actions than handed freely. Imo, having instant spurt would get you affections from a lot of females that wouldn't be organic and initially just about physicality. The fact that he has noble intentions but had difficulty managing it, is a big plus for me, that humanizes him. Not suggesting any changes, just stating my opinion.

I prob won't immerse but i have other ways of enjoying a game. Good luck with that.

So, as you're the second person to take this the wrong way, I'll clarify. This game is actually going to be very large in scope, and may even require me to do a sort of, trilogy. Though I think for all intents and purposes, I'll probably treat it more like a serialized television show with options.
