I would say that Albatrozz had compressed the assets ( images, audios, vidoes ) of this game to the best of his abilities which is why the size is only 518MB ( zip format ). I don't think it can be compressed further without compromising the quality
.However, for future reference, you can request for the community to provide compressed version here ( in ccordance to their rules ). Unfortunately, you can't request for this game to be compressed there because it does not fulfill the size requirement ( game needs to be at least 700MB ).

The characters look good and the story is decent, as much as I want to enjoy this VN it's borderline unplayable with all of the missable events.

The short answer is, the game ended abruptly, so quick even before it truly starts
. It can be considered abandoned by the developer since he will no longer works on the game but not quite, because he gave an actual, rushed ending ( with a cliffhanger ) in the last patch. Technically you can call it Complete ( other games given this honorary title as well ) storywise, but incomplete contentwise.The incomplete contents ( which I said it truly hasn't started yet ) referring to a lot of females characters that weren't developed, very little dating going on, no proper relationship building, the harem didn't materialize, and the most important thing is that, even after getting the ending, what happened and what happens next to the MC are still mysteries.
In general, the game has interesting stories to tell but storytelling is the biggest weakness, especially since it relies heavily on "tell" but nothing to "show".
