I'd just find that surface and change it from the default to an iRay Glass/Mirror. Check your ray traces, anything under 6 won't reflect anything. Doubt this is the case since you can see something. Chances are you might need to raise some of the surface settings of the glass or have some light actually hitting that mirror.

Honestly.. I don't even know what I was thinking, by trying this program here. I mean, what could possibly do a lads like me among all of these game devs here (and non of course, since there are others)? Mess, I'm sure of it.
Either way, after swearing so many times (and I think that N7 can confirm, since I did it so much in private), I came to the conclusion.. that I think I fully understand what doing a "Render" is and how much time can take per day to do one after another for an update.

In the end, this is what I came up with.

Pretty sure that with the first one, I should've fixed her left hand (right, if you see the pic of course), but since I didn't quite understand what the pose was, I just.. left that as it is :test:
And the second.. uh.. now that I see more clearly, I probably should've fixed the arm there, since like this seems that it's going inside her own right chest. Ah, well :FeelsBadMan:
Sounds like you got a handle on what went wrong. Daz is like anything else you are not going to pick it up and a master first go. there is a learning curve but I like this program better for character creation than other apps like Zbrush.

Few tips.

rotate that camera. whenever working on a pose it is a good thing to rotate the camera around the character to see what is doing what.

use the spot render tool. the small camera with the arrow on the too bar near the arrow. this is almost a necessity if you get into adjusting the shape of your character. what looks good in Texture shade may not look good in rendered.

get pictures. fill up a flash drive with reference pictures. they will help you visually see poses you may see in your mind. that way it is easy to adjust the figure into a more natural pose

I can't believe I'm just now discovering this thread. Totally a Daz enthusiast. Been working on it for about nine months now. Finally getting a handle on lighting and surfaces. These are some recent renders we've done for the VN we're working on. Let us know what you think.

This one was challenging because we've never candle-lit a room before. It took some serious playing, but we're very happy with the end result.

Skin texture and lighting were perhaps the two most challenging things to learn, but with time and effort, I think we nailed it.

And then of course learning how to properly light exterior scenes in shadow...

Looking forward to swapping tips and tricks. Cheers All!

Since my last country girl didn't work out so well when uploaded, here's another...

Compression still messes with it a little but not too bad.
This is going to sound really fucking stupid, but I love the grass.

I haven't invested in any ground textures yet but if you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them. This is a fantastic render!

Thanks for the tips! c:
And yep, I've used the camera already to fix the pose in the end. Mostly because wasn't properly aligned with the stool there and in fact I've used the "Transformation" and the "Scale" option to make it look better - but in the end, the arm was the one who "suffered" the most since I've even used the above for the arms as well, but in the end the result was what i said: as if was "penetrating" her right side of the chest (though I couldn't have done otherwise, because or that or the pose, that wouldn't have been fixed in the right way resulting in a mess).

Ok, I'm planning a scene where one character wearing dforce clothing is sitting on a couch, while another with dforce hair is laying on the couch, using the first character's lap as a pillow. My question is should I try the dforce sims in one go, or do multiple steps?

Multiple steps.

Do the couch person first (hide the other person), then hide the first's clothing and unhide and simulate the second person's hair (hiding dforce objects just prevents dforce from simulating them, but if you click 'CLEAR' it will revert all simulations to their original states, hidden or not).

Also, you probably want to make sure when you run your sim, you have 'start bones from memorized pose' selected: this will take your character from a T-pose to their sitting position so that the clothing correctly moves around the couch.

Not an expert -- could be completely wrong ;)

This is technically the second render I ever set up, but I was an idiot and didn't realize that my CPU was bottlenecking my GPU and the render kept crashing. Finally got to finish it now that I know what I'm doing.

Did you uncheck CPU from "Render Settings", "Advanced" tab?

Keep only GPU and Optix checked.

BTW, good work!

Anyone else optimistic about what Nvidia's RTX 2080 / 2080Ti could bring to rendering?
I know the card's performance in gaming is basically indistinguishable from the 1080Ti because games aren't using ray tracing yet, but I'm looking forward to seeing people test how it performs in rendering.
I'm on a 4-ish year-old gaming laptop with a 980m, so I'm excited to upgrade to a fully-decked PC with a monster card in the next few months.
