Someone always shows up explaining why it can't and shouldn't be done. They might even say it's theft for someone to do that - without permission from the original creator, that is. Thing is, if a new dev could finish the story with just 75% of the game's original potential, I would still enjoy it.

I agree. Also, it's not like there isn't multiple remakes of Big Brother and others, so it's not like it can't be done. I know if I had the skillset I'd be all over this and few other abandoned gems. In fact my dev name would be Abandoned Gems
But there is a quality with this one that is above the rest, and would be very hard to replicate (even at 75%) I can only imagine. That's why the silly dev needs to rise from the ashes and get back to finishing what they started. I'm sure he would be rewarded handsomely with supporters.

We've already begun working on the game with the programming, but I don't have authorization from the game's previous developer, and I'm unfamiliar with the assets used here. If you guys can help me find the assets for this game, I'll be grateful to continue this abandoned game with putting myself all in for the game.

RudeOkapiGames and myself are huge High Life fans, and we reeally wanted to make a game that lived up to it and filled the void. We got together to work on the plot, took a simple coming of age game, then we accidentally changed it and came up with an actual story!

They look really great. Will the girl in the middle of the first banner be the main character? An unusual and interesting girl, that's for sure. She's not the cliché of this kind of games, that could be favorable for some people and unfavorable for others too.

She looks authentic, not like the usual Daz models used the most of the time for a MC. And she looks a bit nerdy too, that's why I said that. I like it. Godspeed with the project.

You may have noticed the similarities to High Life in the presentation of those banners. Since they were made, the story has taken on a life of its own and become its own thing, rather than a High Life reboot. The renders of our main character so far are nothing short of stunning, I think people are going to love her!

The girls in the preview images look a little more... big boned? One thing I liked about the previous girl was how she was slender... she had a graceful, angelic face. It's a subtle difference, but one I really pick up on since most games use girls who have that broader face, with a squarer jaw, high very pronounced cheek bones, etc... so when I see a more gracile face it really jumps out at me. Body-wise they're probably even more similar.
The main girl in the top image looks very beautiful none-the-less, so I'm not complaining. I'm just going to miss the look of the previous girl a bit since she was more "my type."

As some of you may know, I came on board as the writer of the New Life project. Sadly, due to artistic differences we've had to go our separate ways.
The good news is, that as New Life continues on with a new writer, the script I wrote - which a few of you have had the pleasure to read already - will be repurposed for a new project (featuring a more Eleanor-esque protagonist)! So you'll be getting two High Life inspired games instead of just the one.
