I'd say someone who got duped to be a Patreon member who is now salty about it in perpetuity is more naïve (intrinsically) than someone who never paid into it and can still enjoy it because they have nothing to be salty about. Also, yes, that's all the same general chunk. Complaining about the development process is 90% of the posts. The rules themselves suggest the topic of the discussion should be the game itself and not excessively about the development. I'd say "almost exclusively" is excessive, wouldn't you? Particularly when anyone who DOES want to talk about the game gets blasted by the hate train.

You say the game doesn't provide much to discuss, but it has hundreds of lines of dialog, dozens of characters and many story lines. Seems plenty to me. But there's no room for it because the hate train will jump at any opportunity to complain some more.

90% of what BD posts on patreon are excuses about how he cant get the update out on time. I feel like youre one step removed from blaming the victims for the crimes that were committed against them. It's not our fault we have nothing to discuss be the excuses when that is all BD is willing to provide.

Lots of salty former Patreon members. Opinions on the dev are divided. Still #11 most-liked (as in thumbs upped) game on the forum.

Development is fairly slow, but not abandoned.

By the way, the update that was apart of the last entry of this list was finally released in March of 2023. The infamous rectangle that caused us to name the MC "Blockhead". I checked in on the game today and was as amused as I thought I would be. I saw a helpful post by a member named Uncle Loco. He had all of the posts by BD/Mackenzie from March 22nd of 2021 until yesterday. I checked the first one, and then another, and another. By the time I was on the 6th BD post I was laughing out loud. I decided that I would kind of curate a rough list of dates, excuses, release promises, and release sizes for anyone who wishes to read a condensed version of the past almost 2 years of this game's development. This is not 100% accurate. There may have been things I missed but this isn't an historical document. So sit back, grab some popcorn, and marvel at the endless drama that is TWO YEARS IN THE LIFE OF BRAINDROP (or TYITLOB as good ole BD would call it.


3/22/21 - Blurry eyes, hilarious explanation, expect release in 2 days. Size – 600+

We moderate the threads and remove things not related to the game (aka abt dev time and dev themselves) but this dev dug his own hole and there is literally nothing to talk about here than what an absolute joke it has become. So rather than deleting 90% of the thread we have decided not to moderate it as others, coz there is not actual content for users to discuss.

The staff have have thier decision months ago, and thier word is final.

P.S: if anyone has a problem with that then there is always the off-topic section for you guys to bitch about us while downloading free shit that we put effort into maintaining

There isn't a house burning down. He's got over 3,000 paying subs. And plenty of freemium enjoyers. You say nobody here is salty, and heck, that might be true for you personally (though I'd beg to differ from how you're talking about it). But you definitely can't say it about everyone.

I'm trying to create a more pleasant environment for everyone who does like the game by reminding the moderator that insulting people over their opinion is against forum rules. Yet here you, a mod, are calling me a brown-noser for ... not caring that an amateur developer is an amateur.

There are no victims. Paying into a crowd-funded project always runs the risk of deciding on reflection that it wasn't worth the money. Buyer's Remorse laws even in the EU are like 14 days. Crowd-funding is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're going to get.

You also can't excuse excessive discussion of development by saying the Patreon posts are updates about development. That's what Patreon is for. This forum post is supposedly to discuss the game itself, as per the rules. So all the users who do nothing but complain about the development ARE being off-topic and ARE excessively discussing development.

A separate topic for people who enjoy the game won't help because the hate-train will just do the same there until it becomes unmoderated too. If that's that then I guess that's that.

On a final note, thanks for maintaining F95 zone's functionality. Even though I've learned my lesson about talking about the games I like on here because mob mentality rules, I very much enjoy the easy central location to check for game updates. If not for F95 I'd have to check on a couple crawler sites every time and that's just a bother to scroll through.
