Normally while you are massaging Alison's feet, Elsa will pass by and chat with you (before finishing Alison's quest). And the number of potions can be multiplied by 2 if it boosted the mechanical skill + there is also the bonus of the alchemy skill which gives additional potions.
Axsefire (in the rating) explains that he spent 1 hour maximizing all the skills that increase in town before starting the cave. This must have tripled his stats and he certainly finished the 1st and 2nd area quickly.

25 vision potions (1rst) + 50 corruption potions = 7500 droplets (5000 monsters in 1rst area) = 37500 EXP earned. Exactly the same number of monsters killed but since you get the X2 bonus of foresight (Droplets and EXP), you receive even more reward (in the 4th area = X8 instead of X4).
You can also exchange your droplets for XP to get stronger faster and go down even faster. 1 droplets in battle = 5 XP => exchange 1 droplets at the Magic Stone = 10 XP
There are several ways to play the game, there is not only one path to follow and if you take hours to unlock something, it is because your method is not the right one.
PS : If you want grind, I remember the first porn games which were in fact chat simulators where you had to spend hours before unlock 1 steps (And there were only 6 steps) but you couldn't make the slightest mistake otherwise the NPC would disappear.
