Nothing is wrong with female MC romance. What is wrong is all the authors who believe that, for a female MC, romance can only been shown through abstinence.

Oh my I thought you were talking about the personality of people that play that kind of game but it seems you were talking about the state of mind when playing it.
demonbra I heard you and I understand your reasoning. I still find it more reasonable for the main reason for playing those kind of games to be due to the dom/sub and sado/maso kinks (and not hate of women). I can't easily imagine what could lead one to hate women, so I tend to believe there are not many people like that.

But Romance isn't sex.
It's everything surrounding it.
Like "you're all I need."
The Romance part is going to movies or risking your neck.
It's all those things that tell someone what they mean to you.
It's more of a spiritual binding.
Sex scenes are sex scenes.
I routinely call out male MC forced Harems or fuck-fests with a Romance tag as false tagging.
The point is to spend more time with the character and it becomes more and more intimate.
The sex tends to also be more intimate.
I love rejecting LIs in favour of my Romance LI in male MC games.
Even in the few female MC Mother/Son Romance games out there.
Options naturally serve the Romance genre.
Maybe there's a deviation of the interests of males and females regarding Pursuer and Pursued?
Or maybe a deviation in the way the sexes pursue or are pursued?
I definitely assume so.
Regardless LI presence directly, or in the backdrop, serve Romance.
The both could be split up by a natural disaster and both do all they can to find each-other and reunite.
In this case there's nothing they can do but reject advances and gather the intelligence and resources necessary to reunite.
Maybe we can all agree that the absolute perfect female mc game does not and will never exist. I remember seeing on a youtube video about a skyrim pregnancy mod the following comment: "I will install this mod, create a character that will be called 'the bitch' and I will become pregnant of every male NPC in the game". So, maybe the perfect game for that person would be closer to the "slutty female" and more distant from a representation of a real woman. Maybe there are many ppl like that and that is why there are so many games that explore that area.

Female MCs are only an awkward topic because most everyone writing anything we have here is male, so "Female MC" is practically a genre in itself since the go-to is playing a cocksleeve. Not that it's a bad thing to default to. We're here for porn. Action. Having titties just below the character's line of sight and not being able to put them to use at will is just stupid.
Ideally, a female MC would be written by a woman, since dudes naturally aren't good at writing decent thoughts or relationships for them. But then she'd have to appeal to men. You see the problem?
For lack of artistic talent in regards to a female MC that appeals to men in your typical story focused game, a form of 'ideal' would be a focus on reactivity to player choices rather than your own idea of what makes a good woman, which is only one role in a story. Whereas male MC games often have many women to pick from, each with their own personalities and storylines, female MC games are mostly limited to the one female, with maybe some boring lesbo crap I don't care about. Biggest trashy trope is a town full of practical strangers. The more interesting and meaningful your actions, the more satisfying the MC. But then that requires making an actually good game.
