Problems with Honey Select.

So, I downloaded Honey select, the 1.0.2 version that is available here.
When I start the launcher, no problem, But then I click play game, a window opens, displaying only a black screen and the Honey Select cursor.
I read that disabling GPU scaling fixes this, however, it's impossible for me to change that because I'm using a laptop.
I also read that changing your screen resolution fixes this, and again, no results.
I was really hoping to play this but now it's impossible for me to do so.
If someone has a solution I will be forever grateful.
Btw I highly doubt my computer is the problem, here are my specs:

Intel Core i5 7300HQ
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 4GB
16GB RAM DDR4 2400Mhz

This happens when I try to play the game as well. I'm also on a laptop. I'd be interested if there was a fix for this.

Try right click in honeyselect64 folder, and disable "only read" mode or something like that, apply and see if it works.
