I was just told by a close friend that if you have a wordpress based website you can add a paywall option so that you can have people pay for your content. I think this could be a possible solution for all game developers to get paid for their games and not use patreon. I hope this information may help the game developers on this website have a alternative solution to the patreon problem.

How does wordpress feel about adult content of an incestuous, besital, or non consensual nature? More importantly what is the payment provider behind this paywall that might take umbrage with the content? Better to look to other methods, like Sponserion, if it launches and can work. I feel like wordpress would just get shut down eventually.

Whoa, wordpress is still around?

Anyway, the paywall option would probably be Paypal, and we know how sketchy they are with money from porn.

Well there are a whole lot fo CMS you can set up with webshop systems and so on. No it doesn't have to be paypal, but it is an option. There are thousands of options you can choose, like direct debit or online banking direct transfers through moneybookers and other transaction sites. There's also the possibility of credit card institutes (which would be as fucked up as paypal, probably even more) or payment via paysafecards and so on and so on... So yeah that's actually the way we'll go about it if patreon kicks us out, I don't need patreon and everyone who thinks they do is fooling themselfs..... As long as you don't do anything illegal nobody can do anything against it. And if Patreon doesn't want our money it's their loss not ours.

How were peeps making their money before the patron type websites came along? Return to that, or find other crowd sourcing website without the same restrictions, or make your own website for it, using typical payment methods a lot of companies use... The porn industry does it... Do what they do...

Wordpress doesn't care what you use it for. It's an open source software that was built around the foundation of creative freedom. That said, I build a site on it and I'm looking for adult devs to upload their games. I can install paywalls with your paypal info. Paxum used to allow adult payment processing but I know of a few others that do as well.

With paypal I would think a way to circumvent would be to do the subscription thing. In that scenario, who is going to check your content? You also need a few blanket disclaimers. Just to be safe.

If anyone is interested feel free to msg me. I paid a nice chunk of change for the domain, and spent a bit of time building it. I hope we devs can make use of it.

(yeah nice domain eh)
