ok, got it. the problem was that I maximized the window, which cut off the bottom part of the scene where the newspaper was for some reason
I thought we had left behind those games where their buttons or controls are horribly unintuitive.
For example, in this game you select the character in question (in this case the bus driver) and select one of the 3 balloons that appears and it does absolutely nothing, in order to advance you have to randomly press the upper part of the screen until it opens sort of inventory and select the wallet.
Not to mention that everything is horribly mapped, you try to select a part of the stage and the character decides to go to the other end lol
