Are there any sites like patreon but more adult content friendly?

There are probably a few ways to go right now, basically the stealthy, non detection route and the "Dual Game" route.
Both have their pro and cons, but lets first quickly state what we know.

Patreon doesnt allow any option to change the relatedness yourself in the game, so the player can not have name input, they also dont allow step-prefix. Sites linked from Patreon also cant contain their unwanted content. So far, except one deviation, all further complains (which I mean is every case after the supension of the handful of pages we know) were about incest content.

Now about the routes:

Stealth Route
Avoid obvious game names, also avoid mentioning on the Patreon page about the unwanted content. (and also edit or outright delete comments of unwanted content, even behind paywall)

Avoid having early hints of said content in game. The very recent Dreams of Desire case is a good example, a character named Marcus made and probably still makes a very obvious hint. Wouldnt even call it hint anymore. Time is money, for every company, so do worldbuilding or character introduction, sure, but right now its probably best to avoid mentioning fetish content too early.

If you make a mod yourself, dont offer "alternatives" on the Patreon page, or a page linked from there. This step requires one of the sites like this one, and also word of mouth advertising. Which is probably one of the difficult things to get going.

Pro of the route, you can probably even right now make new pages on Patreon and exist.
Con of the route, well you can drive decades without a license and not get caught, but living like that probably isnt very comfortable.

Dual Game Route
Make two different versions of the game. At least renders/art mostly wont have to be made twice, and if your "base" game is solid you might also get Patreons on that alone. And basically just leak the different version on various sites yourself. Because as with mods, the original creators cant be hold liable for whatever others do with their game.

Pro is, you dont have to worry about the game you have on Patreon, which might gain popularity because of offered "variations". (or even on its own of course)
Con is, of course its more work, wont deny that might be off putting for creators and fans, when things take longer than necessary. Might also lead to a weird dual life on Patreon, but there were games even before the enforced Guidelines living a dual life. (in that case Copyright related)

Until a new site is established the only way forward with patreon is with mods. Its only a matter of when they just outright ban all adult content. Its really baffling that patreon never thought of just adding an NSFW section on their site that only allows fictional content.

They do have that, and when you are marked as NSFW you cant even be found on patreon with their already crappy search engine. Now if someone happens to stumble upon one of those sites with a direct link, even then most games have it behind their Patreon only wall. And we are basically only talking about fictional content here. Got over 80 bookmarks of western patreon content creators, there isnt a single not fictional thing there.

But yes, the unmodded version of a game might be a bit weird and unintentionally funny, but thats kinda the best way to have a game not written generically and still have it mod-ready.

*snip* What I care is that people are so desperate to keep their e-begging shekels that they simply will do whatever it takes, throwing their fanbase under the bus if so needed. *snip*
(snips and emphasis mine)

Shekels is a mighty curious word choice here...

The larger devs should organise and approach sites like manyvids and clips4sale. There's no reason for those sites to care that the content being offered is a game instead of a video clip.
They might need to change som tech, but other than that, that might work. Was just thinking about that idea yesterday

Hopefully, it's a misplaced try to be snarky and edgy/funny... and not something else.
I'll freely admit that the current climate might make me read a lot more into that than I should and it might have no other intention behind it.

Not to step on any toes, but how about F95 page allow devs to link to their pages for people who'd like to support them financially. I am sponsoring DarkSilver but not by much as my countries currency is shitty compared to $/Euro/Pound etc.. Still every bit helps.

Also why not ask people to pay for each release but make it $5 etc... So it does not have to be monthly. Devs can release it in episodes so if you want the whole thing you will have to buy them, of course older versions go for cheaper. XStoryPlayer does this type of thing although they take forever to bring out their next releases.

Just thinking out loud... I am saying this cause i am really thinking of developing a game myself...

Until a reliable alternative come in the market, yes. It will not a be big deal for already established creators, since they have a big fans and donators base. They will probably earn less, but still achieve to raise money. The biggest part of the problem will be for creators who don't have a big visibility and obviously creators who want to enter the market with their games. They both don't have a fan base yet and so will encounter real difficulties to raise some money.

Firstly, because human brain sometimes works in a strange way.
If you want, it's like the price of something. There's no real difference between 10 and 9.99. But because of the psychological threshold, 9.99 is not 10 yet, and so more people will buy it.
The same thing apply here. There's people who are ready to help a creator, and so give it some money each month, but who'll never buy a game. Whatever if it cost them the same amount, the psychological impact isn't the same. In one hand, you have something like, "the creation isn't this bad, so the creator deserve some help, I'll give him $5/month", and in the other you have, "this game isn't good enough to cost $5/update". This said, there's people who react at the opposite, and are ready to pay every update, even if they are monthly, but not to give a little something each month.

Secondly because Patreon add something useful, a vision of the future. You know how much you'll earn for the next month, so for creators who use the help of a coder or an artist, it help them know how much they can spend on this update. And like, unless you mess it completely, the number of pledge tend to stay stable or raise, they can even plan this on a bigger scale. "I earn x/month, it cost me Y/picture. It mean that I can command z pictures/month, so in three months I have finished this part. Let's say that in two months I start thinking hard about the next part".

I... i think i understand what you are saying. I still feel more option than just monthly payment can only be a good thing. if Patreon inflict their politically correct ideals onto game devs then i can only see adapting to survive, which could mean people do not find their product appealing anymore.
As you have said the human mind. I think for loads of people incest or for some bestiality is erotic or appealing or intriguing, cutting that out for whatever reason "can be" detrimental to one's game.

Anyway thx for answering. If i may ask how did you get into developing Visual Novels and was it difficult?

I feel the same, don't put all your eggs in one basket. But Patreon offered something that no one else offer (yet?), the possibility to deal with an online payment processor without high, almost prohibitive, fees, even when you make adult content.

There's the fetish, and there's also the, "it's something that I'll never do in real life" effect. It's a game, it's better when it's something which isn't your reality. There's few, "go to the girl, get slapped, try with the next girl", games. What's the pleasure to play what you already live each Friday night :teary: ?

I'm not developing. I thought about it a lot, but when the moment came to stop doing it hypothetically, the sad reality hurt me... I'm not a good enough writer and artist. So, I let better people do it, and after this mess with their games :D Who know, with times it will perhaps teach me the knowledge I still miss.

You seem to be a hell of a coder, so you could probably collaborate with someone :)

So I've had some good thoughts about it and I think the mod or "patch" route will be the way to get around the patreon censorship for now. I've had more than a few games on steam go this route. It may take a little more coding up front but with the community here I think it could still thrive.
Should patreon ban adult games altogether then that will be a different story but I am confident this community will be able to figure something out

No I don't think Kimochi would be a good alternative. It's more like a kickstarter for dubious porn.

From what Ive noticed is that patreon, at the moment, is targeting 3d games/realistic render games and not 2d games like Summertime Saga. Also by the looks of it 3d devs are making their games mod friendly so if anyone wants the taboo content they can simple install the mod. I mean honestly I think thats what they want at the moment so that they can way well patreon releases are vanilla and Its not our fault that those evil modders added the forbidden content back in.
