  • Dream that are there for no reason for sure. Unless there is a story reason I rather the dev spend time else where.
  • No animations is somewhere in the middle for me. I can play a game fine without animations but at this point ive gotten so used to.
  • Forced sex scenes to a certain extent. I'm find with scenes being forced at times like in the begging of a game to use it a story telling method to show a existing relationship or in some other circumstances just depends on the context.
  • Games that lack intimate dialogue during Sex scenes as to me without that there is no point in even watching them since they are over before you know it and you dont feel anything for the characters during it.
  • Milfs / mother that have unnaturally big tits and ass while I dont mind it, it also annoying how that is the standard
  • To many character with tits that are too huge ( Looking at you Freshwomen),
  • When the LI feel more like a horny pervert than the MC and just wants his dick
  • peeing scenes there is no point it's just pointless filler 90% of the time
  • When peeking doesn't have any negative consequences
Probably a few im forgetting

When the grind is so bad I think back on Korean MMORPGs. C'mon we are here for the sexy stuff, not to grind. I'd rather have a 30 minute game that leaves me satisfied than a 3 hour one that's just padded to hell with unnecessary grind. And I don't know why some devs make their ero games grindy af, who even benefits from that?

Bad mtl is also a mood killer, give me the japanese text if the mtl is gonna be awful.

Harem-style games where you are forced to take everyone and anyone. Even if I like 9/10 of the love interests, don't force me to do all 10. Especially in fantasy games where I might have the hots for humans, elves, succubi etc but do not want any kind of sex scene with an orc or a goblin.

Tags that are barely used. Didnapper might not even be a hentai game per se, but it does bondage better than 90% of the BDSM/bondage tagged gamed. Lot of those just have one scene with pretty basic bondage and that's it. Pretty annoying.

cheating is done to someone else by you, netorare is someone doing it to you. they're opposites.
...No?

Cheating means being in a monogamous relationship and having sex outside of that.
No matter if the MC or the LI are the adultery ones.
Basically, in cheating you can patch up the relationship during the story.

Netorare focuses on the emotional impact on being betrayed. It is about having your LI being "stolen" from you.
You are no longer in a relationship after netorare. Continuing the relationship in perpetual cuckoldry (emotional AND physically) is a bit of an edge-case.
It is also a bit of a problematic fetish, because it is centered around the idea of having a claim to someone. And that sex overrides feelings. (Also, often that a bigger dick seduces everything and that raping someone enough makes them "unable to live without it anymore".)

I dislike bad animations more than no animations. And when I say bad, I don't just mean generic, I mean animations where despite the forced camera angle you can tell both character models aren't actually animating and are being stiffly moved together like action figures.

The biggest thing that bugs me with RPGM is having no control over movies except maybe a skip button that skips the whole thing. Especially when it's a version that can't even have dialogue during animations.

I agree here. Lifeless animations is definitely an issue. I feel this is because developers all want to use Daz and the same Daz stuff. However, Daz is the worst when it comes to animations. Sure some folks can create something decent out of Daz, but the majority of game devs here are either too lazy or too ignorant to do so.

What furthers this issue is people who complain when the dev uses an engine (Not as good as Daz for stills) but better for animations. Things like TK17, Honey Select, etc...

No animations and No gallery would be a huge turn off for me. hell, i wouldn't even pay the game if it didn't have these elements.

Maybe more people would use TK17 if it wasn't so user unfriendly...

Let me paint you a picture:
You are playing a new game and it's been quite fun so far. Suddenly they drop a hint: there will be a scene with the character you are looking forward. A really good one. With the perfect mix of things you are looking for. Just around the corner...
Or rather just around 53014 corners because as you find out even in renpy you have to hold down "skip text" for 4 hours straight to get to that scene. And god help you if the game is in RPGM, because you could finish whole series of '90s RPGs faster than you'll get to what you wanted.

Teasing can be important and good setups are criminally undervalued in porn games, but when the scope gets so big that you start worrying about finding what you were looking for in the current content or you might have to wait months for future releases, it can completely kill games for me at least.

Touche, but nothing is impossible. The issue is people want turnkey and simple. This is why you have the complaint of the seemingly same Daz model or models being use in every game. I feel the going dev mindset is what is the fastest way I can spin up some renders, make a game and then start ranking in Patreon dollars before people figure out you have no intentions on really finishing shit.

If people were not lazy....we would see the best of what each engine can do, however..that is not the case for the vast majority of games here.

Strongly agreed. Text, background information, and dialogue are all important for a good story. But it has to be balanced, and it especially needs to be set up in a conversational way and not just a monologe dump by one character who's going on and on forever. And its hugely beneficial if the dialogue is balanced with the visuals changing as it goes. Staring at the same picture for 20 pages of text gets really tiring, no matter how good it might be written.

I actually had a game that I thought looked good that I gave up on and deleted because of these issues after about 20 minutes of play. About six months later, I saw that it had several updates, so I decided to try again and realized that I hadn't even made it out of the introductory prologue the first time! Once I eventually made it out of the narrative section where there was zero control and could actually choose where to go and what to do, it was terrific! But the initial setup was so poor that originally I didn't even realize there was more to the game.

This is sort of an opposite-style answer to the question, but the things that I absolutely need in the game to enjoy it are:

  • Some feeling of control over the pacing. Even if the choices that I make have zero effect on the content and its always going to be the same no matter which order I do things, I NEED to be able to choose the order that i do things and take things at my own pace. Its its purely a one-directional narrative the whole time, its going to need to be a really awesome experience for me to stick to it.
  • Some sort of map or list where I can choose which character or location I want to go to next.
  • Character cards, where I can at a minimum put a face to the name and remember who's who. The more information on that screen the better, especially if it includes the progression with that character in the game.
