Hello,

I am working on a game and I'm hoping to wrap up chapter 1 art this week.

Does it throw off the flow/feeling of the game to mix art style from scene to scene or character to character?

Example, I have a more painted style image, a cleaner modern anime style, and a more classic anime style below.

Thank you,

Different art styles throw me off. I usually abandon games that do that simply because it breaks immersion. I would rather a game have fewer art pieces that are consistent than a lot of art that uses multiple different styles.

It's part of why I find a lot of brothel sims unsatisfying. Sure, they have a large collection of characters but each piece is drawn by a different artist in a different style and there's no consistency. It feels like playing a rough draft rather than a finished and polished game.

That being said, if you have no choice but to use multiple art styles then the project is probably still worth pursuing. I'm sure there are plenty of people out there who aren't bothered by it, or who only see it as a minor blemish rather than a complete turn-off.
