I already tried it. The problem is that never loads and I don't get any message at all.

Reminds me of Windows. Oh well, it's probably not compatible cuz new/changed content is the problem.

Maybe someone should talk with the dev. It should be possible to create an error log if the game crashes. If this is already a thing...horray for lucky me.

No, it's random.

Until the dev has figured out how to solve this problem you should always start a fresh save. No one knows for sure how much got changed at all and such things always cause problems. If something critical from your old save doesn't fit in the new version you get an error message.

Ofc i hope this will be fixed in the future but for the moment...you either wait for it or you be patient and eat the lemon.

You still can use your old character.
Export your character in the old version, copy the character folder in the new version.

I have to agree, this is turning into one of the better CYOA games i've played in a long time.

It's going to take some work to topple TiTS from my top spot but this, Wanton Cove and Accidental Woman are all looking promising.

This does seem to be progressing a lot faster than I thought it would.
