Because that would still be a huge risk. He's one of the most popular Patreons, so he's under a microscope. If they were to find out he's still using his Patreon money for an incest game, even if it's hosted elsewhere, they'd shut him down.
That's great news! Just so you know, if you do decided to open a Patreon or a BMAC, I'd be happy to throw in a few bucks!

DC can have the normal game, and the incest patch separated on different link.
So money go on patreon and the download go on his site. There is no law that can shout down his game, if he have the game on his site. The important thing is that the download is not a direct download. The ppl need to go on his site and then form there download the game. Because if he let the download be direct, the problem remain anyway, because the roules are to not put game with incest on the site. And a direct dowload is a real problem.

Summertime Saga is made in Ren'py. There are two major obstacles to modding/patching SS. The first is the inconsistent way that dialogue was placed in the files. This did improve when they swapped to the new code and those files are much easier to deal with. The second is the size of the game. There are tens of thousands of lines of code that have to be looked over, which takes a great deal time.
As for Patreon, no, they can't shut his game down. They do however have the right to decide what they allow on their site, and can remove Summertime Saga off of it at any time, for any reason they want. They certainly wouldn't allow underage porn on it(for good reason, it's illegal), but unfortunately they've chosen to censor other content that isn't illegal, like incest porn. So if DC wants to keep making the money off SS via Patreon, then he has to play by their rules. He doesn't want to risk losing that funding by making an incest patch.

i heard hes looking into swapping to subscribestar if he does i hope he brings back incest because his game has the slowest incest patchers

In the end it's not about the law at all, but simply and solely about patreon's terms of service. They are a private company after all and they can do how ever they please. They don't want the money you earn there to be used to created incest games and that applies for all sources, etc.
No, that's sadly not the problem. DC never advertised incest and patreon found out anyway. He's one of the biggest creators on patreon and they'd find out again.
No, if they find out the game and DC will be gone from patreon immidiatly. They have their terms of service and if you circumvent those intentionally it's basically the same as putting the incest game itself on patreon.
Sadly, again no. Providing the game with incest anywhere is just as problematic and will lead to the same consequences, as some devs, like Mr. Dots from "Dating my Daughter" already found out.
The only way to provide a patch would be via sides like lewd patcher etc. and even there remains a risk that somebody would find out somehow.

Just wanted to drop an update on the patch, I finished up the last of the dialogue tonight. I'll test the patch myself tomorrow morning, if it seems to be fairly bug free I'll upload it here in the afternoon for further testing.

With the recent events that have happened on Patreon, the CEO even came out and said they are policing certain people for whatever they do on the internet. They will ban you for something they don't like even if it's not on their site, they are basically making up their own rules now contrary to their terms of service. In line with the response I made for Bahamut, Subscibestar had Paypal and Stripe stop doing business with them for some unknown reason, suspiciously after Patreon banned a certain person and he moved to Subscribestar along with a couple of other creators that used Patreon. So, Subscribestar is basically a dead platform until they can get another payment processor.

Men really this force thing is really sad. Today we also do not have freedom on internet too.
Really is so sad when we are adult and can be free to see or play thing that we want.
Just do not understand why patreon do not do an adult section, where all this kind of thing are allowed.
The funny thing if i can say so, is that all this problem was created for some user, because they do not like some kind of fetish. So before patreon lost user need to change the roules.
In the end the problem is born form there. But if they start an adult section the problem perhaps end also there not?

Please end here this debate about Patreon and what they should and should not do. It's not for this thread. Here I would like us to focus on solutions for SS incest mod outside of Patreon and without help from DC.

Personally I think it's kinda sad that neither DC or anyone from the SS team are doing a patch and we have to hope for a good samaritan modder to come along. I know if it was me in the same situation, I'd be furious at being forced to change my game from what I originally intended it to be and would ensure that those who supported me in my early days when incest was the biggest part of the game would have that support reciprocated in the form of a patch created by me but released anonymously. As it is right now, with their staunch refusal to do anything, it feels like they've sold out their creative vision and those who got them to where they are.
I get that re-writing large amounts of dialogue is very time-consuming, but it just feels like DC is forgetting about all the people who got them to where they are today. There were around 12k Patrons earning DC around 30K a month before the rule changes. That's a lot of people who were supporting, let's face it, an incest game. This game also promised incest pregnancies and people still supported it. Yes, DC has gained Patrons and money since the changes, but the vast majority of both still came from when the game had incest content and now these people are having to hope that it will be restored when/if the game is finished which could be years from now.
Patreon can't stop creators making a patch for their own games and releasing it under another name or giving it to someone they trust to release it under their name. Heck, I'd happily receive and distribute a patch made by DC and claim I made it to shield them from any repurcussions.

I'm pretty sure he'll rather take a couple of thousand dollar less a month than having to fear patreon taking down the whole thing literally any day - at least that's what I would do.

He would have to do what Mr. Dots has done with Dating my Daughter. Mr. Dots makes DMD on his site and uses a different source of income to make that game (i.e.- BMAC). At the same time, he is creating Melody on Patreon, which meets all of Patreon's terms of service, but let's call them what they really are, censorship rules. Unfortunately, due to this, DMD only gets updated once every three months (four times a year) instead of monthly. Fortunately, Melody is a great game and helps fill the time until the next DMD update (which is the superior game to me). Saying all of this, I do not see DC doing this for several reasons. One of them is the fact that SS is such a huge game, and since updates take up to 3-4 months now, it would be even longer if SS had to become the secondary game. The other reason I could see is the sheer amount of money SS pulls in on a monthly basis. It is truly crazy for an independent game creator to make this money, let alone an adult independent game creator. So, I don't see him walking away from that cash flow unless he is guaranteed to see that replicated on a site like Patreon that does not censor their creators. One really promising one is in the works, but it is still being developed. Anyways, we are stuck with this situation. Fortunately, there are amazing individuals like bossapplesauce and ikaruga and currently robertj, who are taking time out of their lives to restore this content. Sorry, but I totally reject the idea that incest wasn't the main focus of this game. Yes, there are more non-related characters that the MC will end up having sex with, but who were the first characters to be given sex scenes in this game? The Aunt, the sister and the Mom. If the main focus wasn't incest, then surely characters like Roxxy, Mia, Eve, and maybe Mrs Johnson as the MC's milf next door would've been the first to receive sex scenes. Also, who were the first characters to receive pregnancy updates, albeit by public vote? Diane and Jenny, a.k.a. Aunt and sister.
There's also the fact that the overarching story (his Dad's suspicious death and the desire to look after his Mom and sister) both has been and will likely continue to be the driving forces in furthering his sexual relationships with his family, especially his Mom. By becoming the "man of the house", his mother develops deeper feelings for him and seeing him bravely stand up against the mobsters who come to their house only enhances these feelings. The MC's pursuit of martial arts training can be viewed as a means to defend his family and in pursuing this his relationship with his sister becomes closer. His need to find out what happened to his Dad will likely continue to bring him closer to his Mom and sister by furthering his desire to do whatever it takes to keep them safe.
The fact is that most games which did (and still do thanks to patches) feature a MC living with female family members who he engages in sexual relations with is, first and foremost, an incest game. Doesn't matter if you throw in 20 other hot female characters the MC can have sex with because they will typically have far smaller, less important story arcs than the family members. In this game in particular, with the exception of Roxxy, every female who is not related to the MC is a tertiary character and ultimately unimportant as far as the overall story is concerned. They're basically nothing more than notches on the MC's bed post and filler to make the game bigger and last longer.

And the thing about that money is that, provided not too many pulled their funding after the rule changes, 30-35k of that money comes from people who were supporting this game when it had incest content in it. DC is up to almost 50k now, but the fact that around 3/5 of that money is coming from people who supported the original incest version says a lot about this fringe taboo and why it's a disservice for these guys to not be releasing a patch under a pseudonym.

I would not have found a better way to say it
The main focus of the game is... to seek the truth about his father death. And during this act you start to bond more and more with you family. At the start the MC fell aroused toward his mother. But the fear to make the wrong choice, he start to focus his mind on his aunt first. During all of this, his sister find how and day after day she go in there too.
In the end you become really the man of the house.
This was like the first 5/6 update?
Then only after that, DC start to add more and more character to his game.
Ofc the first one with mother/sis/aunt was roxxy, also because she was the main log of the game.
For us fortune the family have only 3 character, so soon or later DC stop do update them and work on the other. So soon or later some good modder like bossapplesauce surelly do the magic. I say is name because till now he was the only one that really do the magic! He also change the image in the locker. Really Boss do really a magic job there.
But i understand that the game now has so many text. The only thing that i can think is that if there was some way to have the scrip not in renpy format us can help to read and change all the text in there. And then update it here where they can how to say modifie for let ranpy read it again.
Till now the only thing that the patch need to do is... mom, aunt sis and a bit of roxxy. And ofc how eric call his mother that now is a landlady -.- really look like that now the woman have nothing to do to let boy live with them.

That's also another good point. Just because this game is starting to move away from the Mom, sister and Aunt in terms of development does not mean they aren't the main focus and therefore this game isn't/wasn't primarily about the incest. It's simply a standard part of the development and just means that DC is pretty much done with developing the stories of the main characters up to this point. In fact, as this game moves away from developing the family characters, this might just speed up production as the stories of these tertiary likely won't be as big.
It's possible that the family characters may get additional scenes in the 0.20 update as the expansion of the main storyline may involve them more, but as of the 0.18 update (Jenny/sister), there'll be nothing left to tell. (Debbie still needs improved art, some story clean-up and a pregnancy feature, but nothing substantial story-wise.)
