Seeking Games with Good Writing

Hi guys!

I've only recently found this place after hanging out mostly on TFGamesSite and a few similar places when looking for my fix. There's a lot of stuff on F95Zone that I haven't seen before!

People seem to really games with 3DCG pictures here, which is cool, there's some very pretty looking games that I've never seen or heard of before! But... after downloading a few of the more 'popular' titles around, I've noticed that the writing kind of tends to suck. A lot.

So, I'm looking for games that have good writing! I don't really care about the art - whether it's 3DCG, anime... I'm happy playing Twine games with no pictures whatsoever, but I'm wondering what the best-written games on F95Zone are? Not expecting Dostoevsky or anything, just believable characters, decent grammar, something where the girls don't sound and act like they've been written by a horny teenage boy.

Preferably games with a female protagonist or male-to-female transformation, but I'm not picky as long as the words are good! And ideally also games with a fair amount of interaction, rather than just blocks of linear text.

Good Girl Gone Bad is pretty great, for example. The world is a little exaggerated, but the characters just about feel like they could be real people. Fantastic art, too! I enjoyed Academy of Fetishes, as well (I feel like the protagonist needs to involve herself in the action more though ^^). Claire's Quest is okay, and I really like the writing in Female Agent, even though there's not that much content yet. On top of that, I'm a big fan of classics like Free Cities, New Life, and Sanguine Rose.

Are there any good stories I'm missing out on? :)

If it's about the story and characters, try wicked choices (click on my signature image ;) ). It's referred to by our fans as the Game of Thrones of Adult Gaming x'D

There are definitely two games from my favorite dev, who are never mentioned here:

Not a long game: A night with Sarah
Middle-long-Game: Art with Clara

Dev mentioned, that these occured in real life, don´t know if he tells the truth, but fact is, he knows how to write.

If you look for some classic one, then this is one to go:
Another one from the same dev, more story-driven:

If the quality of art doesn´t matter too much, and if you´re eager to find the right spots to click (like a puzzle) in order to progress in the story, then "A perfect Wife" from Shark: (page 2)

If Incest isn´t a turn-off, then: Dual Family (not finished)

If you look for a potential newcomer and therefore an insider tip, then: Where the heart is (not finished)

One of my favorites: Life with Keeley (female protagonist)

Some other with female protagonists:
Lily of the valley (Rpg)

Anna Exciting affection (Rpg)

These two are similar to Good Girl gone Bad, but the writing isn´t that good in comparison. Especially in Lily of the valley you deal with a more naive girl. But still two games, which are playable, but also not finished. And you need Rpg-Maker, so can be a turn off.

Thanks so much guys! Quite a few to get through ^^

I really appreciate the in-depth breakdown. Lily of the Valley and Anna Exciting Affection are two that I tried after first browsing through the most 'popular' games on here, and as you say, the writing really isn't that great, so I thought I'd ask around and see if there's any hidden gems. I'm glad I checked! Look forward to making my way through the suggestions ;)

I'd recommend:

. You play a a widowed guy who runs a almost bankrupt diner where his (step)daughter and her best friend also work. The name sounds a bit cheesy but it really has some great dialogue and is pretty far along compared to the majority of games on this site.

. You play a a (male) doctor who's hobby is spying on people having sex. There one scene in the last update I played that I felt was badly written and could never happen in real life but overall it is still a very good game and the characters act in a very human way compared to other games.

and are two games with a female protagonist I like.

In all the games I named there is a good amount of interaction with the player.

If you are looking for games that focus on male to female transformation I would ask around on since that forum is specifically made to discuss transformation games.

Jessica O’Neil's Hard News is brand new game that sounds like it would be right up your alley. It sucks because i'm already impatient for more, but following along with the game development can be fun too.

I don't know if this is what the OP meant by "good writing," but by @Sumodeine has some of the wittiest writing of any game I've ever played. There's a lot of inside jokes and meta comments, which I enjoy. If you play a lot of adult games here, you'll be laughing a lot. But even if you don't, there's still a lot of witty dialogue and especially the MC's inner monologue. The characters are a bit over-the-top caricatures, but that is the point. The self-awareness in the writing is top notch. Give it a go!

This link has already been posted above by Pal_, I just want to add that the writer, Tlaero, is an actual published author and her games are among the best in the genre.

The best new writer on the scene I believe is Dr PinkCake:

And finally one other well written game not yet mentioned:

Acting Lessons is in the top 10 for sure, maybe top 5, for writing (we'll see... it's early still, but it has the potential to be a sure-fire hall-of-fame game). Depraved Awakening IMO is #1 in terms of pure writing skill. Haha I just assumed someone had mentioned it already.

Glad you like my game! Just so you know, this next release is adding two scenes where the protagonist gets fucked. In the future, there's going to be more MC interaction with students.

I had a feeling you might be lurking around these parts! I look forward to more AoF updates ^^ Getting to play a subby principal would be an awful lot of fun.

And finally one other well written game not yet mentioned:

Just played through this one, and it has been surprisingly nice! I think this is my fave out of all the games that have been suggested so far - genuinely enjoyable story, not too dumb, and the male protagonist isn't terribly gross :) Very much looking forward to updates on it!

Also finally got to playing through what there is of Coceter Chronicles and that was alright.

A few like Anna's Exciting Affection, Lily of the Valley and a Wife and Mother I'd already tried and they've not been great. I did go back to them just in case, but... no, can't get over the writing, I'm afraid! I've also mostly stayed away from incest - I appreciate the suggestions, just not really my thing ^^ Similarly, I'm not a fan of games that are just about 'seducing' one specific woman. I'm sure they can be quite well-written, I'm just not a fan of "You said the wrong thing and didn't get to fuck her" = "Game Over".

Wicked Choices sounds up my street, so I'm still working myself up to giving that a proper go and a few others :D

My game is story based and I try to avoid the "porn stories". The story doesn't involve anything about getting laid but an actual story.
Only at first release but have a good amount of story content. However, male protagonist and no transformation. Give it a try when you can :)

I'll be honest, I'm mainly here for the fapping and I have a very wide palette. But the one game that I actually invested time into because I got caught up in the story was "Our Fate." It's not anywhere near complete and maybe not even halfway done, but I'm pretty sure you'll get a solid 2-3 maybe 4 hours of story content, even in it's incomplete state.

There was a little poll re best writers and stories last month that might be worth a peek. Any of the ones selected for the poll are probs worth your time.

https://f95zone.to/threads/its-time-to-pick-the-best-story-teller-2-votes-per-user.34163/

My own little game has a slight TF angle on it down one path. But that's a pure VR thing and not proper TF however.

My game is story based and I try to avoid the "porn stories". The story doesn't involve anything about getting laid but an actual story.

*would highly recommend - also the art is superb*

Some games are already signed, but I would like to suggest you mine, overall because I did a long study on the story and I finally find a good collaborator for english translation.
It's in real early stage, and for the moment, to not have discussion with Patreon, the in family the characters aren't blood related (but in future will be the incest patch).
here the link: Slip Over Time

see you

Not mentioned yet, Waifu Academy has superb writing both in the sex scenes and the rest of the game. It's not often you find a dev that's mastered the intricacies and ideosyncrasies of american pop culture. Give it a try, it's funny, informative and hot all at the same time.
Not sure how you feel about dom/sub content, but if you're into it, any game by Pyorgara is a treat. The man's a master at painting a picture with words. Also, in the same vein, Deviant Discoveries has some very good writing.
Taffy tale is also a favourite of mine and you may want to check it out. Quite good writing there.

Definitely Dr PinkCake and phillygames. Both devs have one finished game and one being in development. You can search for them. PinkCake improved immensely with his second game imo.

Both of them play in their own league in terms of overall quality if you ask me, writing being one of their strong points.
